A big "fuck you" to CurrentEvents for spoiling the game for you.

I wouldn't blame you for disliking the game, or generally being pretty meh on it, but I'm glad that you seemed to enjoy it. The part that really kicked the game into overdrive was when you change the past, and you shoot back to a present where Chloe was in a car crash that left her quadriplegic. Like shit, that's some mood whiplash. And then you have to make sure her dad dies in the past to reset the timeline. That was a really special moment, though that rewind puzzle was kind of a pain in the ass.

* The Joy-Con sticks tend to drift after about a year, depending on how much you play. At least, the left one does.

* Zelda is very good, definitely snag a copy when you can.

* There's a big Shmup library on the Switch, as well as point-and-click adventure games. There's also a growing library of visual novels, with a significant chunk of otome games as well as titles like Nekopara and Clannad. Not so many racing games, though. There are a handful of core fighters on there, like Guilty Gear X2 and the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.

* The PowerA corded controllers feel kinda lightweight, and the sticks are so springy that if you flick them in one direction, they'll flick back hard enough to register motion for the opposite direction. You might want to look into Hori game pads, or seeing if any other decent 3rd party controllers will work on the Switch.

If you're gonna go for any indie games, I recommend Stardew Valley. I'm looking into getting My Time at Portia once the performance improves, but Stardew Valley scratched my farming itch for over 150 hours. I've also been having a blast with Minecraft and Skyrim, they're both very good ports.

The Rebirth movies start off as straight remakes, then fly off in a totally different direction. 1.11 is more or less a straight recap of episodes 1 - 8, but 2.22 is a big swerve into more big, bombastic shonen action. 2.22 is my favorite Eva movie next to End of Evangelion, for completely opposite reasons - I even got it on DVD.

3.33 is an acquired taste, though. Personally it made me feel a little sick to the stomach, because I waited like two years for the dub to come out and then the movie wasn't even that good imo. Regardless, the Rebirth movies are a lot of fun. I think you'll like 2.22 the most out of the current releases.

Just give the series a bit of time to cool off. 1.11 is almost a shot for shot distillation of the first 8 episodes.

On one hand, I don't know if the Little Mermaid will be as iconic as she has been in the past - we've seen a good handful of movies that have been robbed of their sentimentality and power through lackluster performances, i.e. Beauty and the Beast. This is the one casting choice I'm not really sure about in Disney's live action movies, especially since they've been flushing their renaissance-era remakes down the toilet for years. I'm hoping this actress can pull off a once-in-a-lifetime performance here, but I don't really have hope overall considering how watered down, milquetoast and lame Disney's live-action remakes have been so far. Will this be an unabashedly emotional performance? I would like to hope so, but having never heard Halle Bailey's material before, I'm in the dark here. Prior Disney remakes tell me that this might just be another phoned in product, but I hope this actress gives the role everything she's got.

With that being said, anyone who's criticising the casting choice by going "I can't say black people are ruining movies without being called a racist!" is a fucking chump.

I went kinda apeshit on holdmyfeedingtube over a video of Casey Heynes, hammered out this massive post about bullying and the impact that the video ultimately left. I voiced a lot of subjective stuff, it was kind of a mess but it got upvoted a ton of times.

I tend to use Reddit like once a week, tops, and I decided to have a look just now - scroll through the subreddits I follow, see what's up. I have a look at my notifications, and I see three new messages. Two posts about this platinum users subreddit, and one informing me of my "platinum award".

To my knowledge, Reddit awards are these virtual badges that people pay real money for to reward comments they personally find agreeable. I have no idea what this system is or what it's meant to achieve outside of that. It's like a super-like button, as far as I know.

What's up with the Award system, and what is the significance of being awarded a Platinum award?

After Pumphrey began to raise red flags in her department pointing out videos like Odoms, she says the system began to go after her.

As The Appeal reports:

Internally, however, Pumphrey said the chief assistant state attorney, Larry Basford, chastised her for sharing the videos with the sheriffs office. He starts yelling over the phone. What was I doing looking through all the videos? Why in the world did I find the Teresa Odom video? Why was I looking for it? And just having an absolute fit. Basford did not respond to comment on Pumphreys characterization of this conversation. Pumphrey turned in her resignation the following day. She filed a whistleblower complaint, but later dropped it because she said she didnt want it to affect her ability to represent her clients at her new state job in public defense at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the First DCA Region of Florida.

Apparently, it wasnt just Wester who had an interest in locking up innocent people.

The state attorneys office was just as bad and just as guilty as Zach Wester when we found this out and were not dropping these cases immediately, in my mind, Pumphrey said. When it was ignorance it was one thing, but as soon as we know there are innocent people sitting in jail and we dont drop the charges, were as guilty as he is.

Although Wester was fired after Pumphrey exposed him, the state has yet to bring any charges against him, claiming they are still looking into it.

Also, although these 119 people were vindicated, and a possible 30 more could be, they still face challenges from being framed.

People still had consequences. It wasnt like this was just all erased, Pumphrey said. Dropped charges still remain on a persons criminal record. And even though the charges got dropped, there were people sitting in jail for six months on no bond because of this case. Or youve got people who have to spend money on supervision fees; they have to spend money paying for their own urine analysis test; theyve done community service hours; they paid cost of bond like $1,500. Youre not getting back six months of your life. Or youre not getting back the job that you lost because you sat in jail for a week before your girlfriend could get the bond money.

The next time someone tells you that obeying the law will keep you out of trouble with police, show them this article. A single cop had over 100 victims.

https://thefreethoughtproject.com/charges-dropped-for-119-people-after-cop-caught-on-video-planting-meth-on-innocent-grandma/

Jackson County, FL Dozens of innocent people who were rotting in jail have been freed and their charges erased after the corrupt cop who put them there was caught on his own body camera planting meth on an innocent mother. Jackson County Sheriffs Deputy Zachary Wester has since been fired and a slew of lawsuits are now rolling in.

Westers fall from law enforcement grace and the 119 people who were exonerated are due largely in part to the diligence of a single person, assistant state attorney at the 14th Judicial Circuit, Christina Pumphrey.

Pumphreys job as assistant state attorney included reviewing evidence before moving forward with charges against individuals. When she began reviewing cases, she found something very peculiar.

This is an exaggeration, but it felt like his (Westers) name was on half the cases, Pumphrey told The Appeal. It was seriously disproportionate.

When Pumphrey began watching the body camera footage from Westers arrests, she found something even more disturbing. Many times, Wester was seen conducting illegal searches. Also, his written affidavits did not match what she watched in the videos. But that wasnt the most telling aspect of all these videos.

While it is no question that folks will claim that drugs found on them or in their possession arent theirs and they dont know how that got there, nearly all of Westers cases had this. The videos showed that people were utterly shocked when Wester claimed to have found drugs in their vehicles. While a single person may have been lying, when everyone reacts the exact same way, something is up.

Although she reviewed multiple videos, Pumphrey never saw the actual act of Wester planting drugs or otherwise hiding them. However, all that changed when Wester pulled over Teresa Odom in February of 2018.

In that video, Wester pulls Odom over, claiming her tail lights arent working. However, it would later be revealed that her tail lights were, in fact, working fine and Wester had targeted her to frame her.

In the video, Wester is extremely nice to the woman, complimenting her, joking around, and making small talk. But in the back of his mind, he knew the entire time that he was going to plant meth on her and have her thrown in a cagean insidious move indeed.

After threatening to have a K-9 come search her car, Wester tells Odom that she can avoid the K-9 if she just lets him search her truck himselfa huge mistake.

As the body camera shows, Wester opens the door to Odoms truck and is cupping a small baggie with a white powder in it.

Wester would plant the substance under a red towel in her truck and then pretend to find it later. Odom would then be arrested and thrown in a cage so this officer could make himself look like a hero.

"Pokemon hasn't been good since gen 4!"

Folks have been loving the SwSh coverage - gym leaders, new Pokemon, Scottish female trainer. Nothing being said about SwSh is new to the age-old turbovirgin discourse, it's been going on since the GBA titles.

You might not like how the games are looking, but I sincerely doubt a CE-wide backlash is going to be enough to sink the next mainline Pokemon games.

"B-B-But the Pokedex! But those SJWs who are mad about drawing Nessa as white! But the grafix!" - the games are almost guaranteed to be the same great, competitive, polished Pokemon experiences as always. The franchise isn't unsinkable, but the audience for this game is wider than this stagnant puddle of a website.

Every generation has had trash Pokemon, and even then I've liked their designs and/or found them cute. The Pokemon world is further fleshed out by having Pokemon who are just part of the scenery.

Also, it's been observed that a subset of "urr pokemans look dumm" folks always hold up Pokemon like Servine or Zoroark or whatever as superior design, basically putting down these cartoony Pokemon in favor of like blatant furry bait. It's not subtle, you find more value in Pokemon that people want to fuck than you do in Pokemon that are meant to be silly wish fulfillment for the demographic that the games are aimed at.

There's nothing wrong with the ice cream Pokemon, or the car key Pokemon, or the trash Pokemon. You're just boring.

Stop separating children from their families, putting them in cells with no beds, soap or toothpaste/toothbrushes, and making slightly older children take care of toddlers because your big manly police organisation is incapable of actually looking after the children they detain.

Children are dying. Countering claims against these detention policies with "you only care so you can get cheap political points!" or "well maybe their parents shouldn't have dragged them over the border!" doesn't change or justify the fact that children are dying. It doesn't make these practices any less inhumane, and it doesn't make you any less of a bastard for letting this slide. Deflection is implicit acceptance of these inhumane policies. Decreeing that they made their bed and should now sleep in it is explicit acceptance of these policies.

Detain families together, or give every detainee adequate bedding, hygiene products and supervision. As it stands, the acceptance of these detention centres is the acceptance of the mistreatment, neglect and abuse of children.

Reminder that there are children in these camps who've had their fingers crushed in cage doors. There have been reports of kids losing half of their body weight during their stay, and the "safe and humane" treatment of them doesn't include soap, toothbrushes or beds. Certain detainment centres have them sleeping on concrete floors with aluminium foil blankets.

Y'all can shitpost about the "fake-concerned Democrat with her fake crying", but this is something that a lot of sane, rational people would find distressing.
