You're not wrong that the plot is more focused on the romance and coming of age aspects than the adventure, but I'd say if you dont like those (or Squall and Rinoa) the game comes across as badly written.

People who prefer the prequel trilogy largely do so because it was at least George Lucas's vision, just like the original trilogy, while the new films are a complete 180 from that and are specifically engineered to be event films that will grab most movie-going audiences who only watch a few movies in the theater every year - and are thus more likely to pick something they're familiar with.

I mean I liked both TFA and TLJ so I might like this too, but it does sound like a bummer. Part of why I gave TFA a pass on essential being a New Hope remix is because that's what the series needed at the time and it could build to something different. TLJ was something different. If we're just going to end on more of the same that is a bummer. Regardless of how I feel about TLJ, I don't want a movie that feels like Disney going on an apology tour!

Even if you dont like the plot and writing in TLJ, the prequels are true dumpster fires of acting and dialogue. It is actually remarkably bad. None of the Disney era movies have that problem.

The real question isn't if Rs will defect to call key witnesses (the same witnesses the Rs complained weren't called by the House because the White House refused to allow them to testify), but what tools McConnell has access to in order to shut down proceedings if they are called

I think the debates energize Trump's base no matter if he "wins" or "loses." That's what I meant by him benefiting regardless. If Biden and Trump both go up and look equally goofy, that's worse for Biden than it is for Trump.

We're past the point where Trump supporters are going to be dissuaded by him looking like an idiot during a debate. The only thing that could tank Trump to his base in a debate is if he had a mental breakdown or some other health-related debacle on stage. And maybe that's what they're trying to avoid.

But the problem is that if you take the position that if you can't determine if someone is rehabilitated they stay in prison, the result is that they stay in prison for longer. Longer than they would have if there was no rehab -> release provision, because the starting sentence will be longer in a world in which people can be released early. Either that, or the deterrent effect of the sentence will be less because the average served sentence will be less.

So people end up in prison not because of what they did, as determined a jury, but based on what a team of doctors think about them. That's really troubling to me.

I was talking about in the example of life sentences/death penalty alternatives. For nonviolent crimes you can do both early release and post-release rehab programs. Sentencing also needs reforms but also it shouldn't be used to just jail most people indefinitely. That's obviously defeating the point.

It's a very messy system that could stand many improvements.

No one is advocating for Arkham Asylum style "rehabilitation" where Harley Quinn falls in love with The Joker and deems him sane and Two-Face keeps tricking the doctors. Come on.

The entire point of advocating rehabilitation is to make the process better, and that's also why violent criminals are lowest priority compared to rehab for non-violent offenses and improving prison conditions in general. If you don't or can't make a fair assessment, or it's impossible to rehab someone, then don't let them out.
