I am confused of who you are rooting for.

Obviously Labour but I was just stating facts. Conservatives gaining working class seats and losing rich ones. A major shift and a bit worrying - Turkeys should not vote for Christmas either way frankly.

Anyway, Nigel Dodds the deputy and Westminster leader of the DUP lost his seat to Sinn Fin, the first time North Belfast has ever gone nationalist. The DUP are screwed.

Edit: Whoops forgot about cultural differences...

Everyone in this topic who knows what they're talking about is rooting for Labour.

There are some americans rooting for the Tories.

Nobody should be rooting for a garbage human like Corbyn who idolized Hugo fucking Chavez.

Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson loses seat to the SNP.

Honestly, good, she pulled the party to the right and is a big part of the infighting among the progressive parties. And most importantly she caused a lot of misery in coalition with the Tories.

Corbyn might hold on for a bit but he will leave soon. Not stepping down immediately but definitely very soon. He won his seat easily just to be clear!

corbyn being called a communist isn't just to his ideals but also due to his positive opinions of leaders like castro, chavez, maduro, etc. he does also have a hell of an anti-semetic streak to him and i know that kept getting brought up over the past few weeks too. sooner he's gone the better for labour.

so sick of anti-zionism being conflated with anti-semitism

zionist groups are always quick to call anti-semitism on even the mildest criticism

This has literally nothing to do with policy preferences (beyond "antisemitism is bad"). And I am definitely not someone who thinks that criticizing Israel is antisemitic. I'm opposed to shit like the settlements myself.

Point 1: Association is according to the scumbag, not Corbyn. His campaign denounced Eisen and even the article (Daily Mail) it's sourced from calls the relation "alleged"

Point 2: Not great but even the article (Daily Mail) mentions that the Bishop who denounced the vicar thought it was an issue less for antisemitism but for posting a questionable source and not thinking it through all the way

Point 3: That's pretty bad. Also (Daily Mail)

Point 4: The context of the 9/11 quote was that he felt a guilty pleasure but after emotions cooled he saw that it was a terrible event and would just perpetuate violence. I can't find a source for his other comment quoted that isn't this article or derivatives. Not a great guy but probably made sense to have speak at an anti-Iraq War event (not Parliament)

Point 5: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20150901-the-latest-attack-on-jeremy-corbyn-is-only-half-the-story/

Lib Dems also need a new leader since SNP kicked their old one out.

Good for Johnson. Corbyn is a literal communist and the UK was good to get rid of his nonsense. If your leaders are on Twitter praising Hugo Chavez, youre fucked.

Also this topic is great. Its always good seeing insular leftists having to face the outside world not agreeing with them.

Dodds out in Belfast was great, but Sinn Fin are terrible too... also the Tories losing Richmond Park to the Lib Dems but that was obvious.

The secret story of this election is the death of the union. A majority of Northern Irish seats were nationalist for the first time ever. Scotland had a nationalist landslide. Clear mandates for independence referendums at least if coupled with nationalist majorities at their devolved elections which looks likely. They are leaving at this rate.

I hope Labour doesn't take this as a call to go to the centre after 2017. But it can't be a Corbyn disciple either.
This was labours biggest loss since 1935. I would hope they stop being far left whackjobs after that.

the flaw with this thinking is that corbyn's economic policies actually poll extremely well, the majority opinions about him are either personal or based on the media parody of his policies painted by the people who have the most to lose with him in power.

Also incredibly low voter turnout.

Propaganda and apathy is a hell of a combination.

I should point out to you, Ulti, that after the GOP in the US got BTFO in 2008, they went Right.

I can't find the graph but a study showed that a huge portion of what caused Labour voters to flip or not vote was the leadership, with brexit a distant second. Economic issues barely registered. The problem isn't the left, but Corbyn as a personality. That is very stupid but here we are. And trust me, a return to Blairism would not go down well in the places they struggled.

Looks like the early favourites to succeed him are Keir Starmer and Rebecca Long-Bailey. The former is good, super popular and media friendly, relatively Corbyn-free but could be seen as a metropolitan remain candidate. The latter is perfect for the northern and working class vote (being both) and is fairly brexit neutral but may be tainted by her close ties to Corbyn. Not sure who the better choice is.

I dunno, if you ignore the first column including people who wouldn't have considered them anyways, 21% of voters that WOULD have voted for labour but defected specifically due to Brexit is still pretty dire.

Anybody who ran on a manifesto of removing the NHS would get annihilated. They'll just chip away at it slowly instead.

I think Boris is playing it safe there though. The left-leaning leavers who lent him their vote would not return otherwise.
