I have seen some people intimate that she was treated unfairly, but I think it's more that Kamala Harris was never treated with kid gloves like some of the others were/are. She hired a bunch of old Hillary staffers to run her campaign and never seemed to have any idea of what she should be standing for and seemed completely unprepared for the fact that people might dig into and criticize her record and that a token pro-MfA stance would not insulate her from criticism from the left. That one fleeting moment where she knifed Biden at the debate only to come out against any kind of busing program was emblematic of her campaign, IMO.

Because the Democratic establishment is invested in perpetuating the political situation which both gives them great power and great lee-way to not do anything with that power. By continuing to pretend that the Republican Party can be reasoned with, they have a ready excuse for why nothing is being done(the real reason is because the party's donors don't want any radical change). It is also likely the case that they underestimate just how bad the Republican Party is, because I'm sure their Republican colleagues are nice to them on a personal level(and there's significant overlap between the two party's donor class) and they can't accept their friends would ever intentionally do what they're doing. Most of these people are utterly disconnected from average people, whether they are a poor rural white person or a struggling urban black person, so most of them struggle to empathize with them, because their own personal situation is so far removed from the reality the majority of Americans face.

Of course, they also fail to grasp the status quo they are desperate to preserve is doomed no matter what they do. Whether it's by Republicans breaking American democracy or climate change wrecking the planet or whatever else, change will inevitably come, and they will be utterly unprepared to face it. It's why they need to be replaced, and the sooner the better.

Needless to say, Mayor Pete backed his police chief to the hilt.

Yeah, domestic instability worked for Syria, too *rolls eyes*

I mean, Assad all but created ISIS by intentionally emptying his prisons of jihadis while viciously cracking down on literally everyone else.

The Iranian establishment, what with the cloak of moral authority lent to it by the clerics and its more numerous, more competent arms( the Revolutionary Guard, the army, the informal basiji thugs) is, if anything, much more stable than Assad. Our sanctions have helped create unrest which will likely result in increased repression and the hardening of Iran's anti-democratic elements alongside the weakening of its democratic elements.

McKinley is interesting, because he took a long time to die. He appeared relatively okay in the immediate aftermath, exhorting both the crowd and the police not to harm his assailant, and assuring everyone he was fine. He received care for a few days and people thought he was recovering well, so well that Teddy Roosevelt left to go hunting in the Adirondacks, but McKinley's abdomen had become gangrenous and he suddenly took a fatal turn for the worse, and TR needed to be hunted down by a park ranger so he could be sworn in.

He was certainly a business Republican, the like of which had governed previously and would govern in throughout the '20s until 1932. Roosevelt and Taft were decidedly interventionist, but framed their actions as preserving the integrity of the market.

I've only seen some of Adventure Time and Regular Show, and between the two, I prefer Regular Show just because it has the kind of humor and situations that an older audience can relate to while being absurd enough for younger viewers

but from what I've gathered, AT's backstory is apparently pretty expansive and interesting.

Adventure Time and Steven Universe are mostly just fun, silly shows in the beginning, they just kind of slowly pull back the curtain on their respective worlds to reveal much more complex situations(and plot lines).
It bears noting that there's a lot of overlap as far as writing staff of both shows. Rebecca Sugar, SU's creator, worked on AT first(for example, she wrote Marceline's songs) and a lot of AT people migrated over to SU after AT ended.
SU is the only one of the three shows that's still going(in the form of Steven Universe Future, which is meant to wrap things up and set after the movie).

I honestly never watched a lot of Regular Show, but it seemed pretty good.

But to answer TC about Diane...

Diane is supposed to be a girl that want to change the world. After hanging out with Bojack, she realised that she is way more like him than she wants. She knows she is not the person she wants to be.

I think it's more that Diane really wants to be a good person and change the world for the better, but she lacks the confidence and support structure to act on those impulses. Just look at how quickly she falls apart when goes to report on Sebastian: she lasts all of a day before breaking down(Sebastian himself is interesting: he's a self-absorbed twit, but the show seems to be suggesting that that's what enables him to do aid work in an active war zone at all). She wants to be this great investigative journalist, but encounters the reality that journalistic outlets don't want to do that, because it's expensive and disruptive and shallow click-bait is more profitable.
And, of course, her relationship with Mr. Peanutbutter is (mutually) toxic.

I do identify with Diane a bit, because her internal monologue is familiar to me(Am I a good person? Shouldn't I be happier? Can I be happy? Does being happy in this garbage world make me a bad person?)

I mean, it's an important point to make that Obama sucked on immigration. Part of the reason he didn't get "credit" for it at the time is because Republicans wouldn't give him credit for it, because they view it as politically advantageous to paint every Democrat as an open-borders fringe hippie who loves immigrants more than "real" Americans.
As for Obama's logic, it has long been orthodox in professional Democratic circles that brutal enforcement of existing law is crucial for convincing Republicans you're serious so they'll agree to do immigration reform. And, of course, Obama shows no signs of caring about the immense human cost of such policies(unless some one else is doing them).
