It's not that weird. If the goal is to defang the Liberals a little, that means voting for someone electable that's not Liberal. That's Conservative where I live. I'm in a fairly Liberal area on the east, and while we've flipped Conservative within this century, we have far less Green and NDP presence, at least on paper. The latter two would otherwise get my vote easily (as per my rankings). My province has one of the few regions that did win a Green seat, and I suspect there's far more people in my region, if not my riding directly, with rankings similar to mine voting conservative too.

I would under other conditions, conditions that do not presently exist, consider voting Liberal better than Conservative, but only after exhausting all other conceivable alternatives. The problem is when other options don't exist, then voting Conservative starts to look appealing.

At first, yes. However it would give the other parties a chance to play and win at a game that right now can only be played by the conservatives. It would give the Liberals an advantage only in the short term.

Anyone who voted conservative would have Liberals as their second, and most people who voted NDP would have liberals as their second.

There are plenty that would put both PPC and Conservatives ahead of liberals, and a growing contingent of politically homeless Liberals like myself that would vote PPC ahead of Liberal.

Dead Rising has at least a couple of branches that never reconnect. They lead to their own endings.

Uncanny Valley is entirely based around this concept. To the detriment of all other factors, but that's a different discussion.

Fight'N Rage sorta branches like True Crime, but not to the extent. Most branches have their own endings, but reuse a lot of the same areas.

Blasphemous gets an honorable mention for hiding a bunch of content behind the path toward the good ending. This content is very very easy to miss, and requires considerably more time and effort to get than the standard ending. It's disqualified for being a detour on an otherwise identical throughline.

What's the context? Was it a majority-black or all-black dorm? How exactly does this jump to hate crime?

This one had me scratching my head for the better part of an hour. There's nothing in any of the articles about Allen Hall being a particularly black dorm, and reading up on Allen Hall specifically gave no indication that it has any particular connection to black people or even black history (such as Allen Hall being the site of a civil rights protest or something).

The only thing I was able to turn up is that it seems to be connected (in fact or in perception) to a larger wave of racist/white supremacist behavior on campus that's been going on for a few years.

It's more like if Bob, an ACLU lawyer, went to James P Wickstrom's Twitter, where he saw, "Bob did a great job on our civil rights case. Bob's a miracle worker." and Bob says, "Thank you for the kind words James, very cool." That does not mean Bob literally agrees he wields the power of the divine. Outside accepting an expression of a job well done, it doesn't mean he particularly agrees with anything the guy says at all.

And this is the sense in which Trump's tweet is to be understood.

I didn't discuss it. I didn't engage him on the matter. I told him flat that I was going to fact check that, and ended it right there.

And, yes, that was indeed a story being circulated that was 99% horse shit, and 1% Trump being Trump. And when you have such outlandish things being circulated as supposedly credible, by people who should FUCKING KNOW BETTER, it makes it very hard to take anything else seriously. It's not "look what you made me do" to point out how full of it his critics demonstrably are, and to be incredulous going forward.

So when I hear about Trump's attitudes toward climate change, or especially anything said in private (such as the nuking hurricanes thing), I have to question every single thing. I have to fact check every single thing. I have to do a lot of this heavy lifting because Orange Man Bad.

80 minutes round trip is on the edge of what I'd consider acceptable but not intolerable for a decent gig. 80 minutes one way is pretty bad and entirely too common. Either of these are long enough that I'd consider public transit, because at least then I could poot around on my phone and generally do things I'd normally do in my downtime at home.

Also I've recently gotten exposed to the joys of being able to bill for time on the road. That is pretty fucking sweet.

Voted other. My current living arrangement is Outcome Based on the surface, but underlying it is Nash Equilibrium: we're all paying what will get us the best deal, given the cost of living realities. The flatmate with the higher income is paying a larger percentage of the bills, but less than it would cost to live alone. Skeevy as it is, the rest of us have little incentive to put in more than that, though the exact split is a little more equitable than a strict payout matrix would indicate on paper (because demonstrating good faith matters).

For a cohabitation arrangement, Outcome Based, with mixed finances. The way we do it between me and my GF is we pay ourselves first based on some reasonable measure of personal spending needs. It's a broad, low resolution sample of our spending, expressed in round numbers. Then the rest goes into a pool for joint expenditures. In the former case we're only accountable to each other to the degree that we agree on what's reasonable, and the latter case we tend to talk out any spending that isn't routine. A recent example is my GF has a camping trip coming up (I'm staying home): some of the expenses for that came out of her personal budget, and some of that came out of the shared pool. It didn't make sense for her to pay for all of her supplies out of pocket, since she's going to eat food whether or not she goes camping. Other things like sunscreen, flashlight batteries, and gas money made a little more sense for her to pick up on her own.

This works best when all parties have an income though we did maintain the arrangement during times when one party had no income at all. A bit of financial autonomy is important, as is knowing one partner will pick up the slack during hard times: I mean there's a reason we put that in marital vows.
