Been using Chrome for a few years now. Ever since Firefox did that quantum update it constantly hangs for minutes at a time and becomes slow and cumbersome. It is a lot better now though, and there are features there I prefer to Chrome honestly, but Chrome still feels faster to me. I still keep Firefox around for certain tasks.

You know what's up with what's good T-Swift. Album-wise, Speak Now is her opus imo (it's consistently amazing for 12 straight songs), with Fearless and Red both being pretty great too.

Yup, Speak Now is my fave too! I love that she wrote every song on that album all by herself. I think it ended up being her most personal because of that.

Jill Valentine outfits

Let's keep it going.

1. S.T.A.R.S (REmake)


Yeah it doesn't get better than this. The beret, the shoulder-pads, the combat boots, her short hair style, it gives Jill such an awesome, professional look that's effortlessly cool and practical at the same time. If I had one gripe, I do wish there was a little blue like there is usually in her costumes. But it's a minor complaint, and it's not something I even notice unless I'm specifically thinking of it.

2. BSAA (Lost in Nightmares)


Easily her best modern costume. Takes queues from her original RE1 costume and looks simultaneously tactical, stylish, comfortable, and loose.

3. RE3


Yeah it's a bit unpractical for a zombie apocalypse, and feels more like something Ada would wear B.O.W. hunting, but hey, who says Jill can't be a stylish zombie killer too? It's easily her most iconic look, and if they ever make an RE3 remake, I hope they don't change a damn thing.

4. RE3 Epilogue


This is a super obscure choice but this is a really nice outfit, and one that even differs from her typically blue color scheme. I think she looks a lot like Scully here. Makes me want a biohazard detective game where Jill is part of the FBI and investigates various zombie-related crimes!

5. Regina costume (RE3) *third from left


I love this little cosplay shout-out to Dino Crisis! RE3 and Dino Crisis were very closely intertwined in development, and this is a nice little shout-out to that, especially since the original release of RE3 also came with a DC demo disc (and vice-versa).

things you look for most in a good show/movie

Oh this is a good one!

1. Great characters

This is almost a no-brainer. Characters are the main tether to the fictional world, and cardboard cut-out characters are not ones I'm interested in spending my valuable time with. This is kind of why I don't watch a lot of sitcoms, where characters tend to remain static and stick to the status quo. I'm not saying characters have to be incredibly deep (nor does every character have to do something interesting every minute), but they should add a little spice and offer at least one compelling reason to keep watching. It's why a show like LOST can still be good even when it gets lost in grand concepts in can't fully handle.

2. Simple but unique concepts/Focused concepts

Nothing will make my go rush to watch something more than when it's either a concept I've never seen done before, have rarely seen done at the least, or just fills in a special niche or sub-genre. Really, the simpler the concept the better too. A lot of my favorite TV and movies tend to take place in just one location for example, which is always something I love, because you can do so much with that, especially with character. And that brings me to...

3. Sense of location

There's nothing I hate more than when tv/movie locations are ill-defined or lack continuity. I want to know these places like I visit them every day myself, and the best locations feel like characters themselves. Harlan in Justified is so good at this. There are even shows I like a lot that are bad at this, namely procedural shows like Veronica Mars or Monk. I just don't really feel like I'm part of those worlds as much and it can suck me out of it sometimes.

4. Tone, atmosphere and feeling

So, we have a fun concept, great characters, and the setting feels lived in, now you gotta nail the tone. Whatever it is, it should feel consistent, natural, and set up quickly with room for subtle changes. A bonus to this also helps especially in TV with episodes that sometimes switch things up; a consistent tone will make a slight change feel instantly noticeable and can set you up for something different and exciting. My favorite examples of this are probably Barry's ronny/lily episode which adds a dash of horror to the proceedings, and The X-Files' Jose Chung's From Outer Space which adds parody and comedy to the series' generally serious take on alien phenomenon. These both work because they fit like a glove into the show's established formats but also offer different takes on what the show can be.

5. Casting

I guess you could say this goes hand-in-hand with characters, but I feel like it's a little different personally. You need that right person for the job. A great actor could feel uncomfortable in a role. A typically bad actor might surprise you in a smaller role. I'll admit this is a bit more hard to define, it's just something I know when I see it.

This is the proper way to modernize a costume. The denim update gives Claire a tougher edge but doesn't betray her initial design in the slightest.

2. Darkside Chronicles - Game of Oblivion


See above. This one sticks even closer to the original design but I think the jeans especially look way better.

3. Degeneration


Smart and casual, feels appropriate to what Claire was doing at the time. Also keeps her primary color which is a nice touch.

4. RE2 Original


Even though the DC update looks better, I still love this original design too. The Made in Heaven angel is such an iconic design. It also gives Claire a little dash of femininity which ties into her sisterly role to Sherry.

5. Darkside Chronicles - Biker


Yeah I know there's a lot of DC on this list, but damn the outfits are nice. This one honestly just looks badass!

This was a surprisingly strong month for horror. Fairly major releases with Man of Medan and Blair Witch, plus some other stuff like Apsulov (recently discovered this and the studio's previous work, Unforgiving, which I highly recommend). We watch a lot of older horror stuff lately as well. If you've never checked it out, I greatly would suggest White Chamber (lead character won my gauntlet). It's this point and click horror game with an anime art style. It's very interesting I think.

I played White Chamber a couple of years back, I forgot she was the protagonist! I should replay it for October. I should get around to Unforgiving some time too; I didn't realize Apsulov was also by them.

Dream sequels for horror video games

1. Alan Wake 2

Pretty much everything they talked about in that prototype interview a few years back would be incredible. Deeper reality rewriting, and just the continuation of Alan Wake trying to escape the dark place.

2. Dino Crisis 4

Would continue from where DC2 left off, with Regina having to go back and rescue Dylan and Paula from an earlier time. DC4 would return to the intense survival horror of the original game, however with the occasional section hearkening back to the survival action of DC2.

3. Condemned 3

Would continue the story of Serial Killer X. I would like more involved investigation scenes maybe inspired by LA Noire somewhat.

4. Eternal Darkness 2

I want to see what happens with Mantorok! Plus new sanity affects with the new consoles and modern updates would be amazing, maybe even with a little commentary on modern gaming trends.

5. Resident Evil: Revelations 3

A culmination of Revelations, Revelations 2, RE6, and features Jake/Claire & Barry/Parker. Moira returns in a supporting role along with the original BSAA cast from Rev1. The main antagonists are Natalia, who becomes taken over by Alex, giving conflict to Barry and his family, and Jessica and Raymond with a new version of the T-Abyss virus combined with Alex's Uroboros strain. One part of the game takes place in Barry's suburban neighborhood and the 2nd part takes place in a middle eastern country, like depicted at the end of RE6.

No, but seriously, I absolutely agree. Every RE game has its own unique aesthetic, and I like that there's no other RE game that looks quite like the original. I think it really emphasizes the fact that the mansion was mainly built as cover for the lab underneath and was deliberately designed to be a confusing puzzle-like maze.

Faye > Jet > Spike > Ed > Ein

of the main crew

Faye was easily my favorite since she was introduced. She reminds me greatly of some of my other fave female characters and I think she has the most compelling backstory. I love the humor to her character as well.

Jet and Spike are pretty close for me, but I found Jet's role as sort of the "dad" of the team (well, maybe big bro) really affecting. Spike could get could a little too aloof my tastes sometimes.

Ed ended up growing on me a lot. It helped she wasn't as prominent but still I thought she settled into the team nicely.

Ein could've been higher and I actually expected him to have a bigger role. Cute dog, but not much there.

Rooms in the Resident Evil mansion (original game only)

1. West storeroom


My first ever save room! While I love the more realistically filled in details of REmake's rooms, there's something so emptily off about every room in the original, and this is a perfect example. It feels unfinished, abandoned, and never lived in, complementing the shambling corpses right outside the safety of this room.

2. Spencer's study


Compared to the rest of the rooms in the game, this one does actually feel somewhat used. It has a super cozy feeling to it and I love the little addition of turning on/off the lamp for added atmosphere. It's interesting that the chair is pulled out, as if someone had been there recently and left quickly. In the Umbrella Conspiracy novelization, Wesker camps out in this room for a brief time, so I always liked to think Wesker had been in this room before as you were walking around exploring.

3. Dining Hall

The first room you ever get to walk around in and explore. I think it's really cool you can see up to the 2nd floor balconies, even though there should actually be zombies walking around up there! I love how cold and uninviting this whole place is. Comparing it to REmake again, the inclusion of a burning fire compared to the empty chamber of the original does a whole lot in shifting the room's atmosphere.

4. Piano Bar


Just relax, and play! Secret rooms are classic mansion stuff. Plus it feels like a classy place.

5. Tiger statue room


Yes, it's the smallest room in the game but I just love that there's a whole room dedicated to this thing. I love the tiger statue design and quote "Some tigers have a red eye and a blue eye" when you examine it. Just one of those things that's always stuck with me. I've even had it as my sig for a long time in the past.

1. Resident Evil 4, one of the most acclaimed and influential games of all time, took the laser-grid scene from the first film because it's just that damn good
2. Technically better casting and acting than the games, and I think most of the casting is actually pretty spot on
3. Nemesis successfully kills a bunch of STARS members, rather than killing a minor pilot and then going after the only other remaining member in the city for the rest of the game
4. It will always be cool to see Raccoon City portrayed in live-action
5. They're borderline experimental

1. Unique gameplay with creative transformations, which also takes extra time to program and design each one
2. Universal art design makes the series appealing to most anyone
3. Most Kirby spin-off games are actually well recieved
4. Kirby faces more dangerous and cosmically threatening antagonists than anything in the RE series
5. Kirby has his own successful TV series with 100 episodes while RE gets crappy live-action movies

Things you want from Overwatch 2

1. A campaign expanding on events from current Overwatch time

2. Individual character missions, like Spec Ops in the Modern Warfare series

3. I think the entire cast should return for sure, but everyone should have remixed and brand new abilities for a totally fresh experience and playstyle. Maybe introduce a limited customization/create-a-class system for characters to make players feel more personalized.

4. More unique yearly events, I don't want Junkenstein's Revenge every year, I'd like something new every year. Also more unique one-offs like an April Fools event.

Ideas for new Overwatch characters

1. I made this one two years ago and I still like it a lot. I always joke that Blizzard took spellbook ability 2 and made Moira out of it.

Name: Mary Holden
Codename: Bloody Mary
Class: Support
HP: 250
Basic Description: A young blonde woman, long white gloves, spider choker, blood-stained battle vest, black goth skirt, combat boots, carries a spellbook and small dagger.
Background: This young woman was raised on everything horror, and was inspired by the stories of Junkenstein and the Witch especially to look into the dark and arcane arts, which she firmly believed Mercy practiced. She paid Sombra to help her steal Mercy's scientific work, and twisted it into her own maligned version.
Attacks: Can switch between her spellbook and dagger. With her dagger, she performs quick deadly stabs, gaining health with each hit. While using her spellbook, she can switch between swarms of bats, snakes, or rats, which affect the enemy each in a different way (bats disorient, snakes tangle, and rats damage).
Dagger Ability 1: Dagger Lunge - Charges at the enemy performing a devastating stab (15s cooldown)
Dagger Ability 2: Multistab - Performs a flurry of stabs in rapid succession (10s cooldown)
Spellbook Ability 1: Zoology - Switches animal attack. (No cooldown, but switching gets rid of any active animals)
Spellbook Ability 2: Siphon - Drains and transfers health from enemies into her teammates. (10s cooldown)
Spellbook Ability 3: Howl of the Damned - Knocks enemy's back with a 3s slowdown effect (12s cooldown)
Ultimate: Blood Curse - Shrouds the arena in darkness for enemies for 10s, curses enemies with draining health and ultimate that transfers to nearby teammates, and Bloody Mary can insta-kill one enemy.

2. Rescue, a husky dog that can carry med-packs from around the arena and distribute to teammates as needed. Attacks include a basic swipe/scratch and a lunge that can tackle enemies to the ground as Rescue scratches and bites them. Ultimate would transfer all medpacks in his vicinity to Rescue's pack and make them all full kits. Support class.

3. Scope, a female Russian sniper based around quick scoping, quick dodge abilities, and demolitions including claymores and C4. Attack class.

4. Reflektor, a Persian scientist who developed a mirror-like technology that can be deployed in the field for teammates to shoot off of, around corners and things like that. Tank class.

5. Remnant, real name Sarah Flockman, the only survivor of an Overwatch nuclear test experiment gone horribly wrong. She somehow absorbed the nuclear energy from the test, now capable of powerful nuclear attacks but could no longer be around others for long periods of time until Winston designed her a special containment suit. In-game, her suit is able to damaged and if broken, she slightly damages close teammates over time in exchange for more powerful attacks. She gains more power the closer she is to being eliminated. Tank class.
