It took a while for anyone outside of the UK to get the rights to it. It's the same the other way around too, since BattleBots will start airing on TV in the UK (on SPIKE) next month.

Well, my carelessness let the last topic purge... again... but on the bright side, now I can put the spoiler warning in the topic title that I forgot last time. Anyways, the US BattleBots and UK Robot Wars series are both now on US television and present different offerings from the beautiful and chaotic sport of robot combat. Here's the weekly schedule:

Wednesdays:
BattleBots = 9:00 PM EST on the Science Channel (replay of previous Friday's episode with bonus footage)
Robot Wars = 10:05 PM EST on the Science Channel (US television premiere, episodes already aired in the UK on BBC2)

Fridays:
BattleBots = 8:00 PM EST on the Discovery Channel (brand new episode)

Tomorrow's premiere episode of Robot Wars will be the first episode of the revived series, technically the eighth in the show's existence. It will feature many returning veterans from the old series, including the legendary Razer, alongside many powerful new robots such as Carbide. Since the episodes already aired in the UK and are available online, the results to these shows are floating out there on the internet. Unmarked spoilers to these episodes that have not aired in the US yet will not be allowed, but discussion of episodes that have aired in the US will be allowed in this topic, spoiler tags not needed.

Finally, same as before, I'm just going to tag some of the frequent posters from last time. I'll definitely try harder to not let the topic purge this time.

For 15 cores, I rather drop 9 on one of the ARs.

You'll need to dummy link her eventually. In fact, delaying it is detrimental because they get more exp per battle if they're linked. If you don't have enough cores to dummy link all of your current team members at 10 and 30 (AKA being in Core Hell) then you should trim down and use some lower rarity dolls, or just use less teams for now.

Since the third dummy link is way off at level 70, that's plenty of time to gather cores for your main couple of teams. But getting to the second so early in the game sometimes puts people in Core Hell if they made the mistake of trying to train too many high rarity dolls too early.

UMP9 and UMP45, which is better in the long? One throws a gas grenade, the other a stun grenade.

UMP45 has a bit more health and gives much more useful buff tiles to the AR's behind her, while UMP9 has slightly better evasion and her flashbang is more useful than her sister's smoke grenade. UMP45 does more damage per shot and UMP9 has a higher rate of fire, but in the end, their DPS is about the same. If your team would benefit more from the stalling that UMP9's flashbang provides (such as certain specials that take longer to activate) then go with her, but if your AR's (especially grenade-firing AR's) would prefer the direct damage boost that UMP45 provides, go with her. They're both great though, and you can't go wrong with either one.

Absolutely agreed. Digging this up now, a decade after the fact, should mean nothing. But apparently in this day and age, if you say/tweet something stupid or offensive, you can never, ever, ever live it down and it will be held against you for the rest of your life, no matter how much of a good person you've been since.

Yes, the tweets are blatantly offensive. I'm not denying that. But it's not like he just tweeted it yesterday, or had been tweeting these things constantly over and over for years. The James Gunn of today knows that the James Gunn who posted those tweets a decade ago was in the wrong, and that's not who he is today.

Just like Batista said, it's a smear campaign, through and through.

It's fun, there just isn't much substance to it. People already mentioned the RPS gameplay problems, and the small roster in the original Wii U version (especially with some of the weird roster choices they made... really? Suicune? Fuck outta here) ended up funneling people to a few popular characters.

I just ended up trolling with Chandelure most of the time.

Edit: The more i read about Island, the more interesting it is... to not watch the anime and actually play the VN, seems like its suffering from the typical route butchering by compressing a VN into 12 eps.

That's what I've heard from a few different people online. It's a good story, just not a story meant to be told in 12 anime episodes.

She didn't. It was a crazy theory she thought of, based on a picture where her mother looked almost exactly like her and had the same birthmark as her, combined with Setsuna (so they think at this point) traveling through time himself somehow. Her theory turned out to be incorrect, and the true explanation was a lot more painful. It was way too complicated for me to explain it all here, so you'd have to watch the episode yourself to see what the hell went on.

Less weirdness and more cuteness in this week's episode of Island, and that's a good thing. Still got some emotional moments at the end, but nothing totally out of this world like last week's "Sara thinks she traveled through time, got knocked up by Setsuna, and became her own mother" insanity. Overall, a good episode for the midpoint of the series.

I do, and she works fairly well. She dodges a lot of stuff, especially when her skill is active to further raise her evasion. She dodges a lot of hits and takes less damage overall from weaker enemies with lower accuracy (so she's a good tank for corpse dragging) and therefore needs repairs less often than a tougher but less evasive SMG like Thompson. But the problem is, when she does get hit, it hurts her a lot more than the same hit would hurt Thompson or most other SMG's. So she's actually not very good for late game chapters, and especially not boss battles, because those enemies have enough accuracy to land a couple of big hits despite her evasion.

All buffs stack (including both skills and tile buffs) but two stats (rate of fire and skill cooldown reduction) have a cap where they max out. Any buffs that push these stats beyond those points are wasted. All other stats (including damage) have no cap and can be buffed as high as you can go.

As a Cardinals fan whose team is pretty much dead in the water now, the A's are one of the teams that I would cheer for if they made the playoffs and my Cards didn't.

The Cards traded Stephen Piscotty (one of my favorite young players on the team) to Oakland as a goodwill gesture, mostly so Piscotty could live closer to his mother in her final days before she died of ALS earlier this year. But what started as a mutual relocation and a goodwill deal has suddenly turned into a great story, because Piscotty is having a pretty good season and the A's are in the playoff hunt. It would warm my heart to see them make the playoffs and go far, especially if Piscotty is playing well for them.

I'm not about 40% of the way to fully finishing Cube 1-4 and getting Groza. Let me just say... thank goodness T-Dolls don't lose affection if they're defeated in a boss battle. Also, I just got Z-62 from a drop, so now I have all the limited drops except PSG1. I won't be too upset if I don't get her, but it would be cool.

It's why i preferred using evasion tanks instead of tommy for that fight, avoided or not, the missiles do way too much fucking damage to facetank them.

My evasion tanks die even faster though... whether it's Sten, PPK, Skorpion, or FMG9, they sometimes die before Ouroboros even gets on screen. They're all around the same level (low 80's) but Thompson is the only one that can survive even close to the whole fight.

Holy shit, I dislike fighting Ouroboros. Even when I dodge all of the missiles from above, at least one of my tanks (even if it's Thompson up front) is either taken completely down or comes very close to death. I'm going through quick repairs like they're M&M's, but I'm lucky I had so many saved up before this event.

The Island is so weird. The tone switches at the drop of a hat and I like the premise but the execution is just so bizarre. At times it takes itself seriously as a mystery, other times it is just a harem anime.

Yeah, Island is pretty crazy. The whole "Sara thinks she time-traveled and became her own mother" thing was especially messed up. I'm still enjoying the show, cuteness, haremness, and WTF-ness and all, but it's far from the best anime I'm watching this season.
