I completed most of P5's social links, so I can reasonably state that I think his is the worst I've seen so far. Granted, I never finished Chihaya, Haru, or the arcade kid. I think the big problem with it is that I, Frank Svensson, Japanese student extraordinaire, did nothing to help him resolve his problems, I was just sort of present. And apparently he's not even a social link in the girl route, so he's doomed no matter what happens. Sucks to be him, I guess.

Okay, look.

I have no difficulty believing some bullies would lock a girl in the gym, and I can maybe buy the teacher covering up the disappearance to avoid a scandal... But either he's telling the truth about her parents approving because they also fear a scandal, or he's lying and they still didn't call the police about their missing daughter. Either thing is ridiculous.

These kinds of things make me like these games more. I'm pro-silly stuff.

So I'm thinking that, as these rankings are mostly reflecting, I may have messed up by putting Zero in the Near-Elite tier instead of the Upper Midcarder tier. My idea was that 44% on Pikachu was comfortably above 46% on Sonic (comparing to Auron), but in retrospect, I don't think that's so obvious that those two should be in entirely different tiers. The problem that comes with that, of course, is that a solid 6/15 participants so far have ranked Zero at not-last, particularly with Anagram and darkx putting him at 11th. What I'm thinking I'll do to solve this is have Zero as part of the Upper Midcarder ranking as well as the Near-Elite one and, depending on those results, I may shift him down into the Upper Midcarder tier. Does that sound reasonable to everyone, or would you rather not have to rank Zero twice?

(And, if you're coming into this topic not yet having ranked the Near-Elites, please still include Zero in your ranking.)

I'd been always gaining a level in each social link whenever I spent time with the person, so I'd been assuming that the actual points system was added in P4 or P5, and you would always gain a level. But apparently not, as I learned on Kenji rank 8.

Also, I guess I'll just say it, these social links aren't as interesting as P5's. I've barely begun the little girl's and I'm only a few ranks into the kendo guy and old couple, but overall the characters aren't as compelling or fun and interesting.

P5 is 4 games after P3 FES (P4, P3P, P4G), and the combat has improved and streamlined a lot in each one. The bottom line is that there's not much to P3 combat at all. You hit their weakness, or they hit yours, and that's it. They added all this random BS to make things more interesting, and it's just frustrating.
