That's the best part about this topic.

A lot of former Republicans have abandoned this current Republican party and either urged people to vote Democrat or become Democrat themselves.

Hopefully people listen, and aren't fully under the sway of the Cult of Trump.

Nobody is right when it comes to politics.

Disagree. There are "political opinions" that are plainly wrong. Some examples:

- Separating asylum-seeking children from their parents is fine
- "Deficits don't matter" (Dick Cheney)
- The country was better off with slavery
- Supply-side economics

While as always it's amusing that you solely highlight right-leaning media, adult low-information voters are still paying into the system and have a far greater economic stake in the system than teens (who largely rely on their parents).

It's hard to tell what happened between the student throwing the basketball and the teacher throwing that punch. Whether the student did anything else in the interim, and how long apart the two actions were. Because the video is cut terribly. So it really depends on how it all pieces together.

I don't agree w/ the idea that it's the faculty's job to be a punching bag in general, though. If a student assaults them, I have no problem with the teacher or janitor (in one poster's story above) hitting back, self-defense or not.
So I'm inclined to side w/ the teacher, but it's hard to make a judgment call based on that edited video.

Around 138 million Americans voted in the 2016 presidential election. From Business Insider.

However, those 138 million Americans only make up 58.1% of our voting-eligible population (those American citizens over 18). From United States Elections Project.

While these numbers seem high, our voter percentage is not higher than the 2008 (61.6%) or 2012 (58.6%) election turnout. From United States Elections Project.

genghis kahn conquered more of the world than anyone else

Technically, he "only" conquered a lot of the world and set up the armies and policies that allowed his son Ogedai and his various grandsons to continue the expansion for over half a century after his death, because he had to spend the first half of his life just consolidating power and establishing his army.
Which is still damn impressive (usually after one dude massively expands his empire, much of the gains vanish quickly after his death, never mind continued expansion). But technically the height of the Mongol Empire existed well after his death.

He also invested in infrastructure and helped create the first postal postal system

And gave the Mongols their first codified set of laws and a written language.
And allowed religious freedom across his empire in a time when Europe was...let's just say a tad less religiously tolerant...
And he pushed for promotions and titles earned by merit.
And women had far more rights in the Mongol Empire than in Europe.

Genghis Khan was awesome. Easily the most unfairly maligned historical figure there is. Though partly by his own design... He saw the value in winning without fighting at all, and avoiding the casualties on both sides that fighting brings, so he liked having ridiculous and exaggerated claims of his brutality against those who opposed him spread...so the next group would surrender without a fight.

Most boomers are just greedy jerks, who'd be fine w/ the earth being uninhabitable for human life in 50 years if it meant they'd each get a $1000 check in the mail, because it won't be their problem.

I definitely think we have a lot more in common w/ our grandparents than our parents. I certainly do...
My parents hoard stupid plastic junk. My grandparents stockpiled food and necessities.
My parents get take out all the time and almost never cook. My grandparents almost never ate out, cooking all their meals at home and in general eating more healthy.
My parents divorced and treated relationships frivolously. My grandparents were married to each other until death did them part.
My parents like the stock market. My grandparents were leery of it and only did limited investing in it.

Really, my entire outlook on life has largely boiled down to, "learn from my grandparents, and try to have as little in common with my parents' lifestyle choices as possible."

This reminds me of the Chaotic Evil argument... some people hate when there are Chaotic Evil party members 'cuz they think they'll be required to backstab the party.

Where as in my opinion Chaotic Evil would simply be more likely to take pragmatic unfavourable action to get a job done.

In my experience, people completely misunderstand what "Chaotic" means on the alignment chart (and, admittedly, that's a terrible name for what the designers were going for). Chaos doesn't mean lolrandom, it means a willingness to ignore law and order in favour of an in-built moral code. A chaotic evil individual isn't necessarily a bloodthirsty raging berzerker with zero ability to think rationally; they're just a "look out for number one" type who is likely willing to do almost anything to further their own aims. The more chaos-focused ones can be anarchists and iconoclasts, while the more evil-focused ones lean more towards sociopathy and amorality.

Uh...I disagree.
Lawful is also not a great name for the opposing alignment, and a lawful character doesn't need to follow or respect the laws of a town if it conflicts with their own personal beliefs (classic example: LG or most LN characters would not "respect" local laws allowing slavery and requiring people to inform the guards of any escaped slaves they notice).
It's the "lawful" alignment that's all about having a strict personal code the person adheres to. whether it's due to the law of his home, the law of his god, or just his own inner moral code.

"Chaotic" alignment indicates the absence of such an inner code.

A nonlethal fair duel or spar between two PCs can be done, and is fine. I've had plenty of those, they're fun.

That's often not what PvP is. PvP is often not a mutually agreed upon situation, done openly and fairly. It's often someone stealing from another party member. Or murdering him in his sleep. Or betraying the party in the middle of a fight when they're hurt and vulnerable.
At least IME, PvP is often opportunistic, craven, and self-serving. Hence why it's so despised.

In a tabletop game, you're placing a fair amount of trust in each other. You're roleplaying characters, but it's not actually you, so your character's not getting the subtle body language and voice tone cues that their "friend" might not be so friendly that would happen if it were truly two people spending all day around each other in real life.

Not to mention how almost always the party just meets in a tavern or something and never knew each other beforehand. Realistically, you probably shouldn't trust such people so readily and completely, but players forfeit that apprehension for the sake of not grinding the game to a paranoid halt. When someone attacks or cheats another player's character, he's essentially exploiting that goodwill and unearned trust for his own thrills/benefit, at the other player's expense.
It's pretty vile.

Nope.

My favorite song is Samurai Heart by Hiroko Moriguchi. It's just a great song/melody, I like the lyrics, and partly nostalgia from my favorite childhood anime.

and...apparently the channel that had all the Ronin Warrior OSTs got removed from Youtube recently :(
So much for posting the instrumental adaptations...

My favorite band/musician is Enigma. Overall, Enigma has way more songs in my "top 20/100/whatever" than Hiroko, but she is my favorite singer.

Cowboy Bebop is so good that you can compare it with other shows that arent anime, thats pretty rare

You make it sound like anime is in general inferior to other television, which is decidedly not true.
Especially modern US television with all the damn reality tv shows.

Min wage should be increased to whatever amount it should be if one were to look at the min. wage from decades ago and adjust for inflation. It should from then onwards be indexed to inflation.
And some areas will need higher min wage than others (say, an area where a 3 bedroom house costs $100,000 and an apartment is $500/month vs. one where the house costs $500,000 and rent is $2500/month), so the federal min wage is just the bare minimum level.
