I liked to joke that Code Geass was "like if Lex Luthor was the protagonist, using his wits to defeat a vastly more powerful Superman antagonist" (well, the combined might of the entire Brittainian military more so than just one dude)

Even when I buy games I don't plan to play for a long time (it happens...got like 12-15 early this year and I still have 5 of them left to play), I ALWAYS open the game when I get home and pop it in, to make sure the game will load and has no immediate issues, before the mfg. warranty expires on it.

I don't buy games to put them on a display shelf. I buy games to play games. Everyone (aside from you, apparently) buys games to play them.

Demetri Martin is easily my 2nd fave on that list and it's a big gap to #3 and on, but I gotta go w/ Carlin.

They're so good that the jewelry industry had to lobby for laws to be passed that there be an indication on the industrial diamond to denote that it was created in a lab. So they wouldn't flood the market and lower prices for "real" diamonds.

Well, not sure about PC/desktop, but there are apps for the Mobile you can do it with.

gotta search them yourself on Google Play. (don't know about iOS)

I discovered a method last night, actually.

Did it w/ firefox, the tutorial was for Chrome (minor adjustments were needed to the steps), not sure if it works for other browsers.

Basically, you open the video post in its own tab, then before hitting play, do a right click on the screen, choose "Inspect Element" and click on the network tab. Play the video until you get a mp4 or other video file extension in the list (you can sort by Type to make it easier if it's a long list), then right click on that row and choose to open in a new tab. The tab should now have just the video and nothing else, and you can right click on it and save the video.

Sadly I just don't have the time to archive many videos, didn't think to save shortcuts to most of them or anything and the tumblr shut down is too soon.

I've never had a problem w/ Gamestop, and I've shopped at them in at least 4 states and at a few different locations in a couple of those states.

Got my last two consoles (PS4 and Switch) from them b/c they had the best deals.

They sell "new" games that have been opened for display use, but it's the last copy they have and at least in the one or two instances they sold such to me, they told me up front it was the display copy and opened when I called to ask if they had the game in stock.

They're not usually the cheapest place to buy games, same for any brick and mortar store. And their used game buy back prices are generally low, though I never sell my games back so I don't care about that (nor is anyone forcing you to sell it back to them, either).

I'm sure some stores have had bad employees and some people have had bad experiences, but I just never understood the massive hatred towards this company.

I'd rather have a system where people can just vote for as many candidates as they want, and the one w/ the most votes wins. But ranked voting is a decent compromise.

Well apparently some facebook deals thing is letting people get the switch for only $180.

Now I feel kind of silly jumping at the $300 MK8 and $50 gift card bundle, considering I don't care about racing games and it's a digital code only.
But I don't trust doing financial stuff through facebook, so I guess it's the best deal I could've gotten.

$180 though.... Half freaking price just about, that's crazy.

Michigan's one of the few states i definitely never want to live in. Horrible cold weather, and some really fucking stupid laws. I know every state has some, but not nearly as many, nor as enforced.

The bottom line is, the more snow days you have, the less summer break you get. If 5 are alotted and 7 are used, you stay 2 days later, for the other situation.

I understand the need for snow days. Going to school in those conditions is dangerous or sometimes just impossible. I don't hate them or anything. They're necessary.
I just never understood why other kids would wish for snow so we'd get a snow day. It's a dumb thing to want to happen.

Maybe that varies. My state and schools on it had snow days set aside. Basically, it we had 5 snow days for the year, that means that if we didn't take more days than that, we didnt have to make up any. And during my senior year, we had tried to not have any extra snow days, but they did. Instead of adding an extra day, they took it from next years days. But as seniors, it didnt matter to me or my friends...

But its a northern state. So, snow days were pretty much inevitable. The reason we were low out senior year was because we had to use them. And it hadnt nowed bad enough to be required. And we used them, but then a blizzard happened. We still went to school for a few days before they decided to take a couple days off...

If you have 5 snow days built into the schedule, and you only use 4, you shouldn't be staying that extra day. But your school sounds like it had some poor planning going on, so maybe for you that was the case.

Anyway, when it comes to holiday breaks such as this topic, those are known in advance and definitely factored into the school schedule. More holiday time in Nov or around Christmas = less summer break.

It's a decent enough game. The combat mechanics work fine and all.

But damn is it a dull game. I put in 75 hours to complete it, and I seriously think at least 20 of those were spent hiding in the grass.
It's a hunting game. Maybe that seems obvious to you, but it's marketed as an action/RPG, when it's really more about stealthing between cover (which is pretty much always tall grass, or smoke when indoors) and either luring foes over for a stealth melee kill or sniping with your bow. Whether it's machines, animals, people...you're hunting. If you like that sort of gameplay, you'll like HZD. If like me, you don't...it will be a trudge.
Also, the camera is super zoomed in and is especially terrible during indoor segments, which take up a ton of the main story towards the end. Navigating the indoor areas was annoying and tedious. Plus in said areas, you usually have a ton of data points to look for with your focus, and when using your focus you move like a snail.

I didn't have much fun playing the game, the only part I really enjoyed was the final story mission where the stealth largely went out the window and you're just going full ham on everything in straight up combat.

Also, if you've played Breath of the Wild before this, you're going to constantly be let down by the lack of climbing and exploring options in this game. Climbing has set "paths" you need to follow from point A to B to C, etc...

I do recommend getting to the gate town between the starting region and the desert region as soon as you can, and grabbing...i think it was a fox skin?... along the way, so you can buy the golden fast travel pack, for infinite fast travel. Most merchants in the desert region offer said pack, that's just the first location you'll be able to buy it.

Between the ever-expanding number of hours that Black "Friday" lasts, the continued rise of online shopping, and the brutally cold temps in a lot of areas of the U.S. this Thanksgiving, I figure there will actually be a lot less people out at the stores than last year (on a people-per-hour basis).

I'm sure there will still be some violence, but the sheer drop in mass of bodies means it should be a lot less violent than usual.

Just my hypothesis.

Seemed like about the best we'd get, so I went for that. There's also been a Newegg Ebay deal for $260 for just the Switch, but I don't trust Ebay...

Besides the Switch bundle, I got Xenoblade 2 for $35 and a new laptop for my wife (both on Amazon).

Need to find some Switch accessories next I guess. Screen protector, SD card, and an actual controller or two.

It can, but you're in a lot murkier waters there, and it has to be threats where you actually fear for your safety, not just, "Go away, [racial slur]!"
If the other dude physically attacks you first, and your response is not grossly disproportionate (in this case, sounds like he just responded with the one punch), then you're pretty much in the clear for sure.

Never literally fought the Tarrasque, but in our high level gestalt game where we were stupidly overpowered, we fought some sort of "Dire T-Rex" that the DM later said was Tarrasque stats w/o the needing a wish to kill it part, re-skinned, and buffed w/ spellcasting abilities.

It was basically a "random encounter" on the way to the next dungeon, and it got the jump on us, so I had to spend the first round curing the other PC from a debilitating status, which also ate up his first turn.

We killed it by the end of round 3, and moved on.

We were pretty stupidly overpowered for a two person party....

Clearly they need some more trickle down economics. That'll fix everything!
