Might wanna go for Shadow of Mordor on your own? I haven't played it but it has good reviews even from Yahtzee and such XD

I know it's reviewed well, I bought the GotY edition. Didn't look into it too much, b/c it was so highly reviewed and b/c my wife loves Lord of the Rings so I figured she'd enjoy watching me play it, too.

But I played for like an hour and a half, and it was just a miserable experience.
I absolutely hate super zoomed in cameras that you can't zoom out, I like being able to see my surroundings. In SoM, your field of view is like 10 ft.
I might be able to get over that on its own, if it weren't for the fact this is also a stealth game. I don't like stealth games. The way I saw it presented, stealth was an option, not a necessity. But it absolutely is a necessity, because without it you just get endlessly dogpiled by more and more orcs faster than you can kill them until you die.
But I can't even be stealthy, b/c the field of view is so tiny.

Is it just a game for people who like "fuck you" levels of difficulty (Yatzee loves his Dark Souls, for example)? I'll try it again at some point...starting over...since the game makes things even harder on you if you fail w/ the enemies leveling up (great game design, there...).
But I imagine it's going to be a very tedious, unfun process of tip toeing around step by step, cover to cover, fighting w/ the camera the whole time to make absolutely sure there's no other orcs around before I finally get to move in and fight for a bit before running back for cover like a coward immediately.
So...why is this game considered so good?

I disagreed with him on a lot (including many things BADoglick mentioned) and he inflicted Sarah Palin upon the nation instead of her remaining Alaska's problem.
I never liked him.

But he did take some principled stands instead of just towing the party line, and was respectful to his adversaries. Which sadly in the modern age....distinguishes him from the rest of his party quite starkly. And his actions as a PoW were truly heroic/altruistic, especially refusing an early release b/c others would be left behind.
So I've also never hated him.

Totally neutral towards him. I think he was a good enough man to deserve a respectful send off, which is not a high bar to clear. Just...don't be a complete monster, like hitler, Stalin, or Edison.

It works sometimes when both sides are rational and well intentioned.

Sadly, one of the two sides is republicans, so it's doomed from the start. They used to be a sane party, but gradually shifted further and further to the fringe right, to the point that many moderate Republicans left or were forced out and in some cases even became Democrats, since they're now the center right party.

When we do get bipartisan bills now, it's almost always terrible. Like the last tax reform bill.
Democrats liked avoiding making any cuts to entitlements. Republicans liked getting lower taxes for billionaires.
Both mean our debt is going to explode, but hey! Both sides got what they wanted!

So, I saw this a few days ago, and it was really touching and a great testament to how two sides who hated each other could reconcile:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2018/08/27/how-vietnam-has-reacted-death-john-mccain

When I learnt about his death early this morning, I feel very sad, retired Vietnamese Col. Tran Trong Duyet was quoted as saying Sunday by Vietnam News.

During the Vietnam War, Duyet ran the Hoa Lo Prison, dubbed the Hanoi Hilton" by American POWs. McCain, a Navy pilot, spent 5 years in the prison after being shot down over Hanoi on a bombing mission in 1967.

The future senator would spend nearly half of those years in solitary confinement; the beatings he endured in the prison left him with physical problems that stayed with him for the rest of his life.

I had a lot of time meeting him when he was kept in the prison," Duyet was quoted as saying after McCains death. At that time I liked him personally for his toughness and strong stance."

Duyet also told Agence France-Presse that he admired McCains stubbornness and enjoyed arguing with him. Out of working hours, we considered each other friends, he said, adding that McCain had helped teach him English.

But despite this, McCain became one of the most vocal supporters of normalizing relations with the Communist-led Vietnam. In 1994, he co-sponsored a bill with then-Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) that called for ending economic sanctions against the country.

He would go on to make more than 20 visits to Vietnam in later years. During one trip in 2014, he noted that he received a warm welcome in the city where he had been held prisoner so long

It is also really pathetic how the president of the U.S. is less respectful towards McCain's death than literally the people who tortured him. But ultimately, they seem to have reconciled, so it's a heartwarming story above all else.

But then today, I saw:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/thousands-of-vietnamese-including-offspring-of-us-troops-could-be-deported-under-tough-trump-policy/2018/08/30/8de80848-a6d0-11e8-b76b-d513a40042f6_story.html

The Trump administration, in a policy shaped by senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, has reinterpreted a 2008 agreement reached with Vietnam by the George W. Bush administration that Vietnamese citizens who arrived before the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1995 would not be subject to return. Now, the White House says, there is no such immunity to deportation for any noncitizen found guilty of a crime.

Critics of the shift accuse the administration of reneging on the 2008 agreement. The State Department disputes that, citing a line in the agreement noting that both sides maintain their respective legal positions regarding the pre-1995 arrivals.

The U.S. position is that every country has an international legal obligation to accept its nationals that another country seeks to remove, expel, or deport, the State Department said in a statement, declining to respond on the record specifically on the issue of Vietnam.

Coincidence? Hmm... Would hardly be the pettiest thing Trump's done. In any case, yet another disgusting Stephen Miller policy.

Not only is the accuser ruining an innocent person's life, she's also making things harder on actual grape victims who will be met with more skepticism due to the false accusers.

False reporting should come with the same sentence as the crime you're accusing someone of, it's just that simple.

With the obvious caveat that the court still has to find beyond a reasonable doubt that the woman intentionally filed a false report. Which includes decisively proving it was not grape, cause if it's inconclusive whether it was grape or not, you can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she intentionally filed a false report, either.
All of which should be obvious, but I guarantee you that even with me explicitly laying out said caveat, there will be posters chiming in with the usual bs that punishing accusers in any circumstance will have a "chilling effect" or "silence" actual victims.

Just because Donald Trump's an asshole, that doesn't exclude McCain from also being one. And dying doesn't absolve you from the things that you have done to ruin other people's lives.

McCain helped get us involved in Iraq. He endorses torture, the patriot act, ndaa, drone strikes, and selling arms to militants. And outside of that he regularly made racist remarks, such as when he compared Iranians to monkeys.

I think that the reason that the left seems so insistent upon honoring McCain is because the goalposts have shifted. What used to be the left have gone to the right, and the right have shifted to an even further extreme. Not one of those issues that I mentioned was Hillary Clinton not supportive of, and frankly she's made her own fair share of bigoted statements (hot sauce comments, prior anti gay marriage stance, etc).

Never actually played Streets of Rage itself for some reason, but I love beat 'em up games and really enjoyed Fighting Force on PS1, so this looks pretty awesome!

Gust of Wind Dance!

I love that one! But my cousin has problems with it...

A friend of mine liked "Whip Smack".

Fun fact: It's a lot easier to do with Lavitz than with Albert. It's generally slower and the window to input the command was much wider than Albert. Applies to all their shared moves really.
Yes. I once did take the time to learn all of Lavitz's moves before leaving Hellena Prison lol.

I did that on ALL of my playthroughs after the first. That is, max out Gust of Wind Dance w/ Lavitz early on, cause I despised Albert's addition timings.

And I love how all of Rose's addition names are suggestive. The exact tone and way she says "Hard Blade" is forever etched into my mind. :)

The graphics were great for the time, the battle system was pretty neat, and... well, that's pretty much it. I recall the story being unremarkable and, at the time, people were claiming it ripped off FF7 (which I never really bought, but whatever).

Yeah, whoever says that is bs'ing, I've played both and its story is nothing like FF7's.

Anyway, it's one of my all time favorite RPGs. As a kid, my friend and I ragged on it a fair bit for the sillier aspects (like the awful voice acting) and kinda dismissed it as just ok. But I've grown to appreciate it a lot more w/ age.
I used to think the music aside from Dart's theme was mediocre, but it's actually got a great OST, just not quite as good as a FF OST.
Graphics were lovely for the time, yeah.
Battle system was both amazing and one of the worst aspects. I actually didn't complete the game until a replay 8 years after the first playthrough, because I stopped playing for a few weeks in the middle of the last disc, realized I had completely forgotten all the patterns for the final (7 hit) additions and just...didn't want to relearn at that point.

I love the story in the game so much, though. I really didn't see the huge plot twist that Rose is the Black Monster coming. I figured she knew a lot more about it than she let on and that it might be a red herring as far as being positioned as if it's the final boss but I didn't think it'd turn out to be that. I also really like Dart's character growth, how initially he cares about nothing but revenge, but by the time the truth is revealed, he's willing to forgive her so readily.
It's kind of one of my top "D&D DMing fantasies" to find some players wanting to make characters with similar backstories and motivations to Dart and the rest (with Rose's player being in on it w/ me), and seeing if I can recreate the plot of LoD just by changing the names of stuff and pull off the plot twist on the players myself.

"For 11,000 years, there have been no exceptions."
Just imagining building an actual D&D campaign to that line of dialogue gives me chills!

You tip for service when sitting down and being served, or when getting delivery. You don't tip for pick up, all that person does is take your money and hand you the bag with your food in it.

Most places when you tip for pickup youre tipping the Togo person. They dont expect as much as a normal table, but something would be nice.

Do you tip a fast food cashier?
If not, please explain why you tip the To Go person, but not the McDonald's cashier, and how their jobs are so fundamentally different.

One is fast food and one is a restaurant. At the fast food place, the cashier has the opportunity to make more than minimum wage. In a restaurant, your Togo person is trying to work their way up to being a server, and they are making minimum wage (or in a lot of states less than minimum wage)

I've never heard this. Citation? I thought only servers got the $2.13/hr or whatever base pay.
Even if it is true, the sever hourly wage is supposed to be bumped to actual min. wage if the tips don't bring him/her there anyway.

And I don't recall ever seeing a dedicated "To Go Person," seems like it's always a waiter or even someone from the kitchen that just goes to the booth as needed to hand out pick up orders.
I don't eat out much, take out or dine in, so I don't have a ton of experiences to reference, though.

I own a PS4
I want a Switch but I'm waiting for a price drop and/or more games to come out on the system.
I don't care for Xbox.

Same for me.

Also, I'm a Wii U owner and am still kind of ticked off at how quickly and completely Nintendo abandoned us. Sony literally will put out games for their prior gen system for 4+ years, and Wii U isn't even a "prior gen" system...
Having BotW on Wii U at least made it easier to wait. I'm still eager to play Xenoblade 2 and when it comes out, Bayonetta 3. Expecting to get Switch around Black Friday this year if there's a good deal.

Ronan.

I'd say Hela and Zemo are runner-ups.

Zemo? Really? Why?

People seem to rave about him having a unique motive, but it's literally just revenge.

I voted for Zemo. Not because of his motive, because it is just revenge. For two reasons:

1) Until Thanos (and maybe Hela?...don't watch Thor movies), he was arguably the most successful villain in the MCU, getting the Avengers to fight each other and cause lasting damage to their relationships with each other

2) The fact he was just a dude, w/ no super powers or Tony Stark level tech of his own, yet accomplished so much against an entire team like the Avengers.

If only this had happened in Texas. Everyone there is armed. The armed and protective citizens of Texas certainly would've stopped that dude before he could have harmed anyone.

Whatever state this shooter is from, I can guarantee you they need more guns there. Only way to prevent all these shootings is to arm everyone to the teeth. Level the playing field. Certainly don't need any laws restricting gun ownership. Fuck that noise. Arm everyone.

Yeah, certainly there would be no misuse of guns in a state like Texas. Certainly not a psycho man shooting women while driving. That would never happen because of all the guns keeping everyone safe.

And if it had occurred in Texas, this man would have kept all of his guns after the first violent assault, thus ensuring everyone's safety, since there's nothing that keeps everyone safer than keeping as many guns as possible at this man's fingertips.
Sadly, this occurred in a non-Texas state which did confiscate his firearms after he used them to terrorize innocent people, and thus further endangered everyone else even more.
