i dont even want kavanaugh in. if i had to put someone from that list of 5 he wouldnt be in the top 3. but there is no real reason why he should be thrown out because of allegations with 0 proof. the left has NOTHING. absolutely nothing at this point. and to make matters worse they purposely withheld this information for months deliberately to cut off the voting date making it seem like this whole thing is just political theater. this reminds of the whole roy moore bullshit in that as soon as he lost that whole story disappeared completely and everyone settled in court under the radar. the dems in charge dont give a shit about justice, they only care about their own political goals much like the republicans who they claim they are so much better than.

as much as we hear about shootings on media, it's scary to know that's only ba fraction.

it used to be a lot worse. were nearly half what homicides used to be 30 years ago only now you can easily hear about every little thing thanks to the internet. the US is a big country.

the more i think about it the more i dont know. this woman says it happened. it could of, but it also could have happened differently than what she remembers. its scientifically noted that the more you try to think about very old events the mind tends to alter details. alcohol was also thrown into the equation muddying things even further. on top of that she doesnt give a time or place that this happened and the only other person that could say yes or no also says it didnt happen.

she really has nothing and at this point and the democrats dont have anything either. the fact that this is whats holding up a court nomination and potentially getting rid of a nominee is insane. im not even on the kavanaugh OR republican train and this whole thing is looking more and more like a farce and imo is hurting the dems even further.

i never said it would, but its one more thing that would be against him, a black man, shooting a female white cop. it doesnt matter if it was defense, the odds will be against him.

once they found 2-3x the legal amount of weed in his apartment, the defense aspect goes out the window. guns+weed=no no for as stupid as it is. if not for that there could be a chance that he can get off on shooting her considering she was off duty, armed and at HIS place and from what i can tell he has no criminal record. theyd still try, but any serious charges that would result in serious time would be very hard to stick.

and the NRA isnt stating to kill cops. i dont know how anyone could think that based on what they said.

if theres no actual proof then the only thing they can do is go after his character through his record and others accounts. so far theres no indication hes capable of this.

anything is possible, but unless more women come forward with actual proof that hes capable of doing this there really is nothing else to go on but what 1 person says about an event that happen decades ago while imbibing alcohol so who knows if those events are even clear as day. kavanaugh says it didnt happen. the only other witness that was there said it didnt happen. you have 60 something women saying they wouldnt expect him to do anything like this. in the years before this event and the 35 years after theres no account of him doing something similar. the nameless and conflicted shrink notes dont help either.

as of right now there really is nothing.

the proof is all over. shootings done with assault weapons during AWB's (hollywood. columbine) shootings done by people with no criminal or mental health records (vegas, orlando, aurora, san bernardino), shootings done by people who should have failed their background checks (texas church shooter, parkland, dylan roof, virginia tech), shootings by people who stole their firearms (usually from parents- sandyhook and most other school shootings), shootings done in states that have all of the gun regulation that gun control advocates salivate over.

even the latest one in california, the most gun control state- 5 people dead with a 5 shot revolver by a guy with no criminal record who went through all of the bullshit and legally obtained his pistol. even with all the AWB's, magazine limits, storage laws, waiting periods, permits ect in place in states you still have people racking up 10-12 body counts with shotguns and revolvers (fort hood, santa fe). virginia tech shooter used low capacity magazines and still killed 32 people, more than most people who used "assault weapons" that are always the prime target in bans (despite killing the least amount of people yearly).

and "common sense" doesnt exist when everyone has their own definition of what common sense means which is all over the place when it comes to guns and largely factors in governments decisions rather than citizens outside the US.

what it would take to "fix" this is kill the second amendment or further neuter its meaning. and even that is mainly just for mass shootings which take up something like 1% of total firearm deaths. if you wanted to tackle the whole thing then good luck getting rid of 400million guns in the hands of 100 million people in a population thats 3x more violent than the UK without the use of guns (so who knows if youd see a notable drop in overall violence). not to mentions what might happen with black markets, 3d printing, easier building instructions thanks to the internet.

heres the big problem. the only way to "fix" what you want is to literally ban guns. that would require getting rid of the 2nd amendment which requires 3/4ths of the country to comply. you wont even get 1/3rd of the democratic party to comply with that let alone the republicans and especially the libertarians. so that is a dream.

so that leaves tighter regulations. the problem here is that this also wont do much of anything. most mass shootings are done with stolen weapons or people get through the system anyway thanks to government fuck ups so any regulations wouldnt help regardless or they just go off the deepend at some point in their lives and most likely would have passed anything you threw at them at that time. most of the "solutions" we have in other states are nothing but feel good laws that shooters never complied with anyway.

i also didnt have those kinds of drills. its one thing to be prepared, but it also seems like its making a bigger issue than it needs to be. not saying dead kids isnt serious, but you also have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning than you do being shot at school.

the 590 is pump action and the m4 is a semi-auto. very different, but overall yes. however this isnt a blanket statement when it comes to semi-auto shotguns. the M4 was specifically designed for combat applications and was built like a tank and made to function under the most harshest of conditions and be able to reliably feed most types of ammo (the mossberg 590a1 is the military pump equivalent). hence the much higher price. most semi-auto shotguns are just not as reliable due to the extra working parts and gas system and require a lot of breaking in to function with lower power shot. of which (in general) its hard to beat a pump action for reliability when theres less chance of something going wrong.

because of this a lot of people will tell you to either go big or go home when it comes to semi-auto shotguns assuming you plan to use them as home defense guns or have serious uses for them.

I concur, they're not as useful on a shotgun as a traditional grip due to natural ergonomics when pumping.

due to regulations you also cant put the extended magazine tube on the pistol grip version. you can with the straight stock. (thanks atf)

remingtons QA has gone to shit over the years. unless its a pre-2006 700 i wouldnt bother. if you want a precision rifle for a decent price get a tikka. the Benelli M4 is arguably the best tactical shotgun a civilian can buy. if you dont mind spending that much money you get what you pay for.
