The thing that gets me is, this story comes out, and less than a day later they've supposedly gotten in touch with over 50 women he knew back then.

That's just a little too quick, IMO.

They knew way back when and had that all ready

Exactly my point. Which just means they think it IS serious.

I make that that site clearly has an agenda if it tries to attack his character for liking Sarah Palin.

Classic Mal style deflection

I like how you only now have a problem with deflecting when his post itself is a deflection.

If it's ok to assume Judge is lying because you believe he hates rape victims or something, then it's ok to assume Ford is lying because she hates Kavanaugh's mom for foreclosing on her parents' house, right?

You just want your cake and to eat it too, huh? Make up your mind.

anything is possible, but unless more women come forward with actual proof that hes capable of doing this there really is nothing else to go on but what 1 person says about an event that happen decades ago while imbibing alcohol so who knows if those events are even clear as day. kavanaugh says it didnt happen. the only other witness that was there said it didnt happen. you have 60 something women saying they wouldnt expect him to do anything like this. in the years before this event and the 35 years after theres no account of him doing something similar. the nameless and conflicted shrink notes dont help either.

as of right now there really is nothing.

In this instance it may as well be. It's pretty clear the strategy is to push the vote off until after the mid terms, and dems are banking on getting enough seats to be able to completely shut down the nomination through to 2020. It's why news of this was dropped last week as opposed to in July or at the beginning of the hearing when they had it. Or why they are calling for a full FBI investigation, knowing full well that there's nothing for them to investigate.

Ok, then were back on track with the original argument.

Yes, this is absolutely a denial. The entire purpose of the delay is the hope of gaining seats which will in turn give Democrats the authority to reject nominations for at least two years.

Other people saying dumb shit about how their imagination perceives him is 100% irrelevant. He could be a rapist and have all these people lining up to defend him, he could be entirely innocent with a laundry list of people lining up to say they always thought he was sketchy. Just because someone knows him doesn't mean they have magic superpowers that allow them to know everything about his life.

Looks like Ford hasn't responded to the invitation to testify. Is she getting cold feet?

There's a good chance both of them will be under oath and if she lies, it's going to be brutal for her. If I were her, I'd start remembering the details like date of the party and where it was.

The Dems really messed up on this one. They said they had this information for 6 weeks, but only to bring it up in the last minute. It reeks of desperation and political assassination. That's why many people don't believe them, because it was desperate. If they start talking about it 6 weeks ago instead of few days ago, they may have a bit more credibility.

Her lawyer won't respond until the last minute, because the goal is to delay the vote. Then it'll be a week or two of agreeing to terms, then a week to schedule, with a date picked for a month out, then a delay due to reasons, all resulting in the vote being pushed past midterms. Once they've achieved that, she can answer any questions without fear, because the damage will be done.

Trump (and his supporters) only want Kavanaugh because of his views on presidential power and special investigations. Trump could have picked Hardiman and he would have sailed through. McConnell even advised Trump NOT to pick Kavanaugh, but Trump needs his get out of jail card.

And from all the interviews I've read, she can't remember the details. She can't remember where or when it happened. She can't identify a house. Unless it's a lie or she was really drunk, there's no way to forget details like where it took place.

She went to this party and she probably got drunk and can't remember things properly. I'm very sure the senators will ask her if she drank alcohol at the night of the party. If she said yes, she's going to lose most of her credibility.

Well to be fair, shouldn't we be holding off nominations until after the midterms anyway as the will of the American people is important? Isn't that what Republicans spent over a year arguing when they stole a seat from Obama?

Exactly. The McConnell rule. If GOP loses the Senate, it was the will of the American people that Trump nominate a less hyperpartisan judge who may or may not be a sex offender.

Never forget that Teddy Cruz and others also began floating the idea, prior to the 2016 election, if Hillary had one they may have just kept every seat empty along the way until the next presidential election.

So if these guys want to be consistent I hope that if they somehow lose the Senate, a long chance but still not impossible, Trump will no longer get a single judge confirmed. Because fuck it
