I personally would leave my books in my locker all day and go in between classes to get the one or two i'd need. Then i'd have my backpack ready just to go home so i'd only need it on my walk home

I, personally, spent most of high school with my locker somewhere firmly on the edge of known space. Strict lateness policies with saturday detentions and in school suspensions on the line as early as a second offense. As a result, I had to lug around five classes worth of materials before I could manage to duck back to my locker for a second.

Each of those classes required bringing the textbook daily. Each required a notebook, and of course you had to bring the required assignments. Two had a large number of supplementary books, at least one of which was required on any given day. To say nothing of your basic supplies, and of course a calculator because cell phones are the devil. Oh, and a laptop for one.

Fuck any school banning backpacks.

Do kids even use books anymore? Last I checked, about 5 years ago when my cousin was still in high school, the schools rented out tablets to students as freshmen, which they used till seniors and had most if not all of their textbooks on it.

Yes, a vast majority of schools are still using books.

The bullshit way this country funds education doesnt really lend itself well to growth, innovation, or modernization.

I mean, in context (something we're lacking here), that line is used as a joke at the expense of publishers acting like forced crunch practices are necessary, when they're doing unnecessary shit.

Which is a fair point. If it came down to having horse testicles in RDR2 or not having some ground-level dev have to pull 100 hour weeks to realize some exec's deluded view of perfection, I'd take the latter.

i paid $60 for gtav when it launched on 360, barely touched the multiplayer at all, and felt like i got my money worth.

tbh tho, i tried to play the campaign again a year or so ago on ps4 and couldnt really get into it.

I did too. That said, take two has been on a steady decline to EA levels of bullshit in the years since gtav released.

Their behavior in just the last couple years has killed my faith in them. Gtav had a fun single player, but gtao changed them, irrevocably. Its inevitable that it spills over. Maybe we'll be lucky and it wont be here. But it will happen, eventually.

Most people spend most of their lives afk and running on scripts anyway, if workplace culture is anything to go by. So really, we're all npcs.

The idea in all three of these scenarios isn't to make the legacy heroes look bad though.

It isnt the idea, but none of us are here to care about what the intent was. What we will care about is what happened. And the fact is, embellished headlines or not, the characters DID end up looking bad. Motivations aside, no one wanted to thor demoted to chump in order for jane foster to take his place. Callback or no, hologram or no, people dont want Tony arbitrarily out of commission. And even outside the headlines, the nazi stone was TERRIBLY received, though I'll give you that one was more a matter of unfortunate timing.

Granted, fans dont always know what they want. And stories need to take chances for huge dramatic beats. But, when bombarded with this shit, from one character after another, for months/years, with Marvel being VERY public and transparent about the fact that none of it is happening for story reasons... yeah, people will conclude the characters they love are being disrespected. It's not unreasonable.

No matter intent, you absolutely CANNOT give your audience reason to believe external pressure, rather than good storytelling, is driving the narrative. And marvel did a shit job at that. Because, believe it or not, everybody noticed when all their favorite characters were very hastily shelved.

Tbh, if you're going to go the replacement route, you have to at least handle the legacy characters with the respect befitting them. And marvel didnt.

Miles Morales may have gotten a lot of backlash when he first dropped, but he was readily accepted. And when he dropped, the writers gave a fitting, heartfelt, powerful sendoff to Peter parker first. Make no mistake, that helped the transition. Dont doubt the power of a well done swan song.

Unceremoniously dropping Tony into a coma, stripping thor of his power, title, even name, and turning steve Rodgers into a literal nazi, all in very rapid succession were PROBABLY not the best ways to convince people to fall in love with their replacements. Dont shit on the legacy

I mean... dont underestimate the costs if having an extra 25% added to every day, your whole life.

That's an extra meal every day. Extra gas, electricity. More opportunity to spend money (which, statistically, is more likely to happen given more opportunity). Not to mention, who knows what this 6 hour boost will do to the global economy; given there will be people taking that 6 hours to work, I'd expect prices on just about everything to rise to match. Not to mention the boredom and physical atrophy having too much free time induces in a lot of people.

Leisure is nice in a vacuum, but I can easily see that extra time making it harder to live.

That said, adding 6 hours of work to every day could and would rapidly burn tons of people out. Pretty miserable way to live, either way.
