i'm of divided opinions with the way trump is handling trade issues. i think the tariffs in china are by and large necessary, but he's gone way overboard with some of them. specifically aluminum/steel/soybean, that's massively fucking over several industries in this country.

i think that trade deal talks between other major trade partners is great, but the way he handles it with our major allies is complete lunacy.

He did mention in the conference today that trade negotiations are not going well with Canada. And he mentioned they're going good with Mexico. He insinuated again that he would place high tariffs on cars from Canada if a deal can't be met, and potentially just forming a deal with Mexico.

Trump then went on to say that they agreed with him and one of them said that no one has ever asked them for this before.

In the video, he only mentioned Japan and South Korea.

Trump mentioned in today's press conference our military protection for wealthy nations where we also have a trade deficit. He mentioned during talks with many nations, they allegedly agreed they should start paying the U.S. or helping out. Trump later went on to mention for poor nations who need our protection, and where people could die, Trump doesn't want 10 cents from them.

Does Trump have a point regarding this issue? Is it fair for the U.S. to pay for wealthy nations military protection and it be a one sided deal?

He said trade negotiations are going terrible with Canada and we're not getting along at all with their negotiators. He then went on to say negotiations with Mexico are doing much better. But he did say he loved the Canadian people and said he has many friends in Canada.

This is true. When you're corresponding with many people on a daily basis and when others sometimes fill your roll when you're not at work, it's easy to send emails to a group and have everything documented. This way everyone is on the same page.

It also holds people accountable if you're working on projects with others who may not be as reliable. You'll be able to go back and see, "Yeah. I told them x, y and z and they responded."

It can make you feel like a machine sometimes churning out emails all day in a "professional" manner, but it's worth it. It depends on the situation.
