Probably because the PS3 was also expensive as fuck. I remember the PS3 being one of the reasons Blu-Ray won the format war but that wasnt until later in its console life. 360 had HD-DVD support but only as a separate add-on...

Btw you get wildcards from opening packs in Magic Arena too. Which lets you pick some of the cards you want even if they dont show up in packs.

It is still in beta though so yeah there are a few problems with the drops from a value perspective (as in, if you have more cards packs are worth a lot less because 5th copies only contribute to a small payout when you unseal a lot of them) but they said its their top priority to fix them.
