What kingdom is Starfire heir to? Because all three Tamaranian homeworlds blew up. I'm not arguing the validity of exclusion of Starfire. You can reign over a constituency who do not have a set demesne.

The thing is, it was a tangible place you can point to. That's really what's important here. I know that neither Lawler or Booker really had a place to point to either, but their gimmicks were so heavily rooted in being kings that there was no question about it. They were portraying that royal stereotype. Sane really isn't is the issue.

I would give Sansa the benefit of the doubt, but Arya is the one I ding pretty hard on. I think it's just the nature of how this upstart kingdom in the North operates. They are very casual in addressing people. It's never "your highness" for Sansa or Arya, and hell, it barely is "m'lady" for Arya anymore. But I wouldn't bump on their inclusion in the contest at all. It's just a weird, sketchy gray area for me overall.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on it. I think Sansa is the better fit here because of her character. I'm not saying all princesses need to act like they are, but their "royalty" is so loose and nonchalant to not even really be important. As far as I'm aware, Jon Snow never told Arya she was a princess of anything. If Ned Stark was alive, it would be different because then clearly she'd be princess by birthright and nothing would need said. But since Jon is the one alive and he's not her father, she really isn't a princess unless he decrees it. If someone can show me where he said this, please do. Otherwise I'm leaning Out.

This certainly makes her a pirate and I don't think anyone would've argued against her if she'd been nominated for Pirates.

Exactly this. I'd probably have not questioned her in pirates, but for this one, she literally is just called a princess and has no obvious signs she is one.

Debatable. Robb being King of the North basically made her one because he said so. She's not really associated with the title at all though and it doesn't really fit in with her character arc. I'd be willing to remove her.

I think you're over complicating things in general, despite my technicality arguing for Xena.

If someone is known as a princess they should be in, even if it's not your cliche type. If it's like something they're often called like "hey princess" or a moniker that's just a minor non-defining nickname like Carmella's "Princess of Staten Island" not so much.

Like it's not like the title of princess is some sort of thing that inherently has any sort of value. It's just that, a title. Kairi Sane is "the Pirate Princess" and Kairi is a Princess of Light or Heart or whatever the crap she is and Xena is a Warrior Princess. That should be enough.

How is "The Pirate Princess" better than "Princess of Staten Island" though? Show me some actual USE of the gimmick in a video. I keep asking for it.

Yeah I REALLY think Emily Kaldwin should be out. By any definition, she is no longer a princess. She stops being a princess in the first game and all three of its DLCs, and she isn't a princess in the second game and its big DLC. She's actually a princess about a third of the time she's the empress.

If she's a princess for an entire game it's good enough honestly. I mean, when I say "better known as" I mean like Elsa, who was a princess for a few minutes in Frozen.

Also, Kairi Sane is a Pirate Princess in the same way that Elizabeth Swann is the Pirate King in PotC. And again, she hasn't been around in her gimmick as long as some of the easier inclusions, but it's clear that by the announcing and the GM and even her top opponent, she's a pirate princess.

The question is, if Elizabeth Swann had been named the Pirate Princess by the court instead of Pirate King, would you have included her?

Elizabeth Swann acts as the leader of the pirates, is officially elected as the king in the third film and there's a whole scene about it in the movie... I think it's a lot different than dressing up and having people start calling you princess.

Here's my list so far:

Kairi: Just isn't the kind of princess that belongs in this contest, in my opinion. Doesn't have a kingdom and isn't the princess of Radiant Garden unless she's the daughter of Ansem the Wise and we learn that in KH3. Unless that happens, and the game isn't out so it can't for this contest, she just isn't a princess.

Status: Out

Kairi Sane: Wrestling gimmicks are difficult. I regretted my decision to not allow Jerry Lawler and King Booker into royalty, because both actually present themselves as kings and have had storylines related to being kings. No, they didn't actually rule over a land on screen but I still felt I was wrong to not include them. In this case, I just don't know if it's in the same boat. I allowed Paul Burchill into pirates because he definitely thought he was one. With Kairi, from what I've seen, there isn't a lot of show for the "princess" part of her character. It seems more like a nickname to me. The pirate part seems more important, if anything. Carmella would have been easier to DQ, but I still don't know about this.

Status: Leaning Out

Xena: Not really the princess of anything sort of defiles the contest. Just because she has a more well-known princess moniker than Kairi shouldn't give her a free pass. It's very murky water, because from all the research I've done to keep her in, it really seems like she isn't the kind of princess all these other characters are.

Status: Undecided

Buttercup: Murky to me and I need some help. I confess, I have never seen this film or read the book it's based. From some quick reading, it seems this character is a farm girl who is forced to marry a prince, which of course would make her a princess. She seems often referred to as princess despite the fact that she apparently never actually marries the prince, and by the end of the film is most assuredly not a princess. It's difficult for me to say, not having seen the film.

Status: Undecided

As such, the list remains the same except Kairi is replaced by Rayfa whom I apparently missed.

I have a problem with both Kairi characters...

On the one hand, one is not a princess of anything. It's a moniker or title the game gives her because Disney. Princesses have to be the princess of something to qualify, and I don't know what she's the princess of.

On the other, while I usually think it's a good idea to allow gimmick characters from wrestling into KotM, I'm unsure of this really. I need some videos or something referencing her actually playing the character of a princess rather than it being a cute title that was made up. It's kinda like someone nominating Billy Gunn into Save My Outlaw right now.

I also don't know about Xena, frankly. She's not the princess of anything either.

Yes, but normal rules go out the window at final 3. It's time to start thinking about the final if you haven't done so already, and Cid is a much easier opponent than Fang or Kefka.

Neither of these guys can beat Kefka, and you all assured he is making the finals.

Robb did this when he was king. Specifically he named Bran Prince of Winterfell, but he declined to actually name Arya/Sansa any lands or towns. That said, they operate well enough the part for me to allow them. You can debate more at the end, but for now I am leaving them in. I'll revisit it later.
