But an equally plausible case can be made that the Clinton campaign itself was so convinced it could not lose that it missed the danger signs emanating from the three Clinton firewall states (Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) that eventually awarded Trump the presidency despite a 2 percent deficit in the national popular vote. Focusing on what happened in Michigan, Politicos Edward-Isaac Dovere provides a wealth of anecdotal evidence of a national campaign that could not believe and thus did not pay attention to distress signals about base turnout and defections to Trump.

It is illuminating to compare Doveres piece to a September Politico article by Shane Goldmacher in which Clinton campaign operatives celebrate the transcendent genius of its data-analytics arm, anchored in what worked for Barack Obama in 2012. Clinton analytics chief Elan Kriegel was the hero of the story, and readers came away with the impression that nothing could happen anywhere in the U.S. electorate without a Kriegel-developed algorithm instantly kicking in to adjust campaign resources and sustain the flight path to victory.

Unsurprisingly, as Dovere found, this all-knowing analytics system and the iron self-confidence it inspired made Brooklyn (Clintons national headquarters) largely impervious to feedback:

Now the Clinton campaign was not unique in its reliance on a model for understanding election dynamics. One of the big trends since 2012 among political practitioners and observers alike has been the gradual displacement of random-sample polling with models of the electorate based on voter-registration files, supplemented by tracking polls of this fixed universe of voters. This approach tends to create a more static view of the electorate and its views, and probably builds in a bias for thinking of campaigns as mechanical devices for hitting numerical targets of communications with voters who are already in your column. You could see this new conventional wisdom (and the pseudoscientific certainty it bred) in pre-election models published by Bloomberg Politics and in an Election Day modeling experiment conducted by Slate. Having invested heavily in its own model for what it needed to do when and where, the Clinton campaign was naturally resistant to conflicting signals from the ignoramuses on the ground.

Shocking video shows man kicking librarian at Richmond community meeting

Mounties launched an investigation after an individual was witnessed kicking the librarian during a community meeting on a modular housing project for the homeless that was taking place at the librarys Brighouse branch on Minoru Gate.

The suspect, who is currently outstanding, was described as an Asian male in his early to mid-thirties, who was clean shaven and wearing a black puffy three-quarters length winter jacket, dark pants, dark Converse-style sneakers, wearing glasses and possibly carrying a blue backpack.

This was an isolated incident that was not racially or ethnically motivated, said RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

Australian Muslim millionaire turned humanitarian Ali Banat dies

Ali Banat was a young wealthy businessman from the Sydney suburb of Greenacre, renowned for living a lavish lifestyle, earned from owning a security and electrical company.

But after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer three years ago he said he decided to distribute his wealth.

He was told he had seven months to live but instead lived for another three years. In that time he says he got rid of his cars, watches "even my clothes, I took them overseas with me and gave them to a lot of people," he said.

He went on to set up 'Muslims Around The World', a charity aimed at "providing financial assistance and outreach to those in need". His projects were aimed at helping people in a number of countries including Togo, Ghana, and Burkina Faso.

In a video recorded shortly before his death, the 32-year-old asked people to continue his work. "As you can see in this life we had the cars, we had the money, we had everything."

"So during your life brothers and sisters just try to have a goal, try to have a plan that you work towards. Even if it's not you personally funding it, and you are funding someone else's projects just do something because Wallah you are going to need it on the Day of Judgement," he said.

"And for the brothers and sisters that are chasing this life .. my advice to you guys is this life is becoming .. before we used to say five years ago, ten years ago certain things were happening, now it's every month things are changing. Wallah, we are following our desires more than we are following Islam these days."

His video Gifted With Cancer in which he described his wealth and reasons for giving it up for charity went viral.
