Report Square Enix abandoned all of CyberConnect 2s work on FFVII Remake and started fresh

The issues with Final Fantasy 7 Remakes development are apparently due to Square Enix abandoning all work completed by CyberConnect 2 (well known for producing shovelware licensed anime games) and restarting from scratch.

Square Enix partnered with CyberConnect 2 for assistance with the action gameplay and video quality. However, in 2017 development shifted back to Square Enix internally and ceased to be a cooperative production.

With a change like this, its expected that there will be delays as staff are caught up on the project and work is transferred, but according to one source, the delay was much more significant.

Dan Tsuka is a game designer, living and working in Japan. In a recent Reddit thread discussing the Remakes Art Directors comments, Tsuka posted some eye-opening comments.

Tsuka wrote that Square Enix doesnt have 4 years of work, [it has] 2. He explains that Square Enix didnt take CyberConnect 2s two years of work on the Remake and continue, rather Square Enix started it again because cyber connects(sic) work was just so useless and not far enough along.

Tsuka also claims that CyberConnect 2s work on Final Fantasy 7 Remake was unusable.

I spent some time perusing r/The_Donald recently and noticed that its posters use one particular word a lot as a term of praise: based. (Well, they use several particular words a lot, including ****, *****, and ****) This post praising Vladimir Putin as "Based Putin" for understanding the dangers of the global sharia conspiracy.

Complex: What's your definition of "based," because you say that with everything. What does that mean?

Lil B: Based means being yourself. Not being scared of what people think about you. Not being afraid to do what you wanna do. Being positive. When I was younger, based was a negative term that meant like dopehead, or basehead. People used to make fun of me. They was like, "You're based." They'd use it as a negative. And what I did was turn that negative into a positive. I started embracing it like, "Yeah, I'm based." I made it mine. I embedded it in my head. Based is positive.
