But he doesn't though.

Joker makes it pretty clear that it's a win-win situation for him.

Natalie Portman was a well-recognized actor outside of Star Wars. Hayden Christensen and Jake Lloyd were unknowns before Star Wars and they got so much backlash for it that they pretty much tried to escape the spotlight.

It's a shame too because what went wrong with their characters isn't necessarily their fault. Jake Lloyd was a kid at the time and what kid WOULDN'T leap at the opportunity to not only be in a Star Wars movie, but a Star Wars movie as the most important role in the entire saga?

And Hayden Christensen wasn't a bad actor, he was just given some shoddy dialogue and directing. You can see flashes of a great Anakin Skywalker throughout the trilogy (most notably in RotS) when he's given the proper material.

If you're more creatively minded, I'm going to assume you're less logically minded. Your creativity is a strength, but it may make the business end harder. To start, try setting up a finances spreadsheet, doing some market research to create a market gap analysis, or a business plan and see how painful it is for you. To succeed, you'll need to carefully and regularly manage mundane things like expenses and slacking off because it's boring and repetitive will lead to failure.

The finance and business side is definitely something I take to less naturally than the creative side, but lately, business and finance fascinates me and not even necessarily as an entrepreneur. I think part of that is because my mom has a financial background, so some of that rubbed off on me. I've been going to her for questions when I'm unfamiliar with certain terminology or concepts.

On a more personal note, don't overestimate your skills. I understand your frustration in having less creative control, but to be blunt your ability to make things pretty means nothing in terms of layout. Whole degrees like marketing exist to understand how to structure an image even if they don't learn the art end, and you'll burn yourself in the long run thinking you just "get it" without a formal education just because you're creative. Before you branch out, do a real critical assessment of what you're actually trained and educated to do and what you feel you're good at by nature of exposure or intuition. Don't treat those two lists the same.

I know there's always things that can be learned and areas to improve on, but as far as going into, say, Photoshop or something, I have gone to school and received a formal education on that, although I would like to learn more.

You say you want more voice, that's something that can be achieved in a job working for someone else. Having your own company doesn't really mean you have all this freedom. Just because you're able to make the big decisions (which is difficult already) but you do have people relying on you to make them well.

Well yeah that's true and that's definitely more difficult than simply showing up to work and doing your job everyday but for now, I wouldn't do try to do anything that requires me to have actual employees anyway. Gotta crawl before you can walk, and gotta walk before you can run.

Unless you're talking about customers, of course.

Protip: working for yourself is often far more work than working for someone else. I'm not saying don't pursue, but just be aware that statistically you're far, far more likely to fail than you are to succeed and that is in part because most people aren't aware of just how much MORE work it takes to work for yourself.

A heavier workload is something that I would definitely need to adjust to, but I don't really have a problem with working hard.

I think what kills working for someone else for me is that, at the end of the day, your voice is kind of dampened. I'm a creative-minded person. I like coming up with ideas, then executing on that idea and seeing the end result.

My current job has me working in creative software, but it really doesn't involve much thought from me because somebody else has already specified exactly how they want everything to look. I just don't see a point in that for me.

They let it be known that my experience in Adobe Creative Suite was my leg up on many other candidates, but that's basically like hiring an artist only because they already know how to use a paintbrush. What's the point in that?

I felt that review was a bit... "try hard". I mean, obviously the developers, did, in fact, release a game that wasn't even anywhere near 100% and scammed people...

But at the same time, it was a scam. The game wasn't complete. So...they never really were trying anyway. Like, should I be surprised a game the developers weren't even trying at....is awful?

Or is it more surprising when developers try their ass off and fail? For that reason, I'll never consider Big Rigs as the worst game ever.

I think that makes it even more funny.

The developers gave so little of a fuck that they put it out in its broken state to begin with.. That's way funnier than someone trying to make a good game and it just sucks.
