The problem is that there's no genuine appreciation for it. Rap music, even trap music, was birthed from the black community and relates to the black struggle (mostly, not always; again, Eminem).

Then one of these aforementioned "culture vultures" comes along and sees they can profit from it, strips away its soul and sells it to a bunch of people that don't fuck with the black community or black music, but they'll buy it simply because there's a white face attached to it this time.

The biggest standout to me is Taylor Swift. Nothing about her rap songs feels genuine and it honestly sounds like she's just playing off of the rap stereotypes that her primary fanbase seems to think most rap music consists of, mostly for a laugh.

Eminem fans are guilty of this too. They were the same people condemning gangsta rap because they "couldn't relate to it" and "it's nothing but selling drugs and fucking bitches" but turn around and think Eminem is a lyrical mastermind when he talks about fucking his mom and ODing on vicodin.

Girl was doing country and pop songs full-time then all of a sudden decided to hop on the rap bandwagon the minute she realized she could make money off of it.

And what makes it pretty bad is that actual rap fans aren't the ones buying her shit; she's selling rap music to people that don't like rap music and take every chance they get to talk shit about the genre. It's the same reason people didn't like Eminem for the longest, until we realized he's a real one, even if many of his fans aren't.

I like Finn. He's the everyman hero that this series needs to balance out all the Jedi and war heroes.

In defense of Holdo's actions (not that I like the character, she's very much a non-character for me):

Perhaps the reason she didn't tell Poe was out of fear that information would leak out to the First Order. Up until that point she had no real reason to trust him (especially given his demotion) and even if not him, somebody else could have leaked the information. I mean, hell, Poe is best friends with a literal former Stormtrooper and while we know he's a good guy, Holdo doesn't know him.

I will say that I think all of her scenes could have been given to Ackbar and absolutely nothing would have changed, but perhaps they were trying to invoke a bit of Mon Mothma with her character.
