I have several conservative friends, and while we had different opinions on things, we were all still cool with each other.

Ever since Trump got elected they've all been fucking batshit crazy. They keep bringing up liberals and how great Trump is and it's fucking annoying. Their Facebook feeds are 95% pro-Trump conspiracy theories, 5% shit I actually give a damn about. So I just unfollowed most of them so that garbage isn't clogging my feed.

Other than that, my black wife gets called bad names far more often in public than before. Which could be totally unrelated but that'd be weird.

Well, it's Oklahoma and we're determined to fuck up here regardless of what Washington does, whether that's defunding the schools to give oil companies tax relief, or passing laws allowing adoption agencies to discriminate against potential parents who happen to LGBT+. We were always resistant on the ACA, I'm kind of fortunate that my employer had the sense to put together an insurance packet we could all work with. Given the aging work force in system, it's probably best that they were the ones who helped design their own insurance. So yeah, Oklahoma governance was shit prior to 2016 and it stands up with time. But now there's no sense of inevitability that things might will get better. Instead it feels like all our bad decisions are just in freefall.

I'm a climate activist now, and trying to get involved more on the advocacy side of Planned Parenthood, because Oklahoma's poor really do need those services. Planned Parenthood is where a lot of gay men go to get tested too because they'll do it for free; so it's not just about women's health. I'm drinking more, and need to control that. Cooking at home more, and that's probably a good thing. I've always been a politically-active insufferable know-it-all, but I'm really leaning into that now, because that's always been important to me, and I'm no longer willing to setting for mere civility from people I call friends.

I'm rediscovering anger. When I see kids do well in the current situation, I feel proud even when they aren't my kids. I really love the sound of people laughing.

Its the complete opposite on mine.

Nothing has really changed at all, just a bunch of people pretending to care about stuff that 2 years ago they couldnt have cared less about.
