eh, i wouldn't say "not remotely important." he was the villain in amazing spider-man #50, for instance, which was one of the most famous spider-man stories (and a huge inspiration for the spider-man 2 movie). he's not a top 3 spider-man villain, though.

well, in the infinity gauntlet comics the story is based on, all the big marvel heroes that exist (the ones that are left after thanos kills half of the universe's population, that is) fight thanos. that's basically what they're doing in the movies too, even though they call them "avengers" movies. wouldn't make much sense if it were just the guardians fighting him, especially because thanos is supposed to be the most powerful character ever when he has all of the infinity stones.

the second half of guardians 2 actually does feel pretty new to me. it's slower paced and more serious than what i'm used to from this franchise.

but yeah, the first half definitely feels like both guardians 1 on steroids (they pretty much bombard you with jokes and old pop music) and a poor man's version of guardians 1. kind of a weird comparison but the first half almost feels like blues brothers 2000 to me in the way it compares to its predecessor. in that movie they throw tons of car crashes and CGI ghost riders at you, but it completely misses the charm, wit and appeal of the first movie.

and yeah, i do think there's a pretty big overlap between trump supporters/the alt-right and ron paul supporters. not that the alt-right gives a crap about paul's actual policies, they just like the idea of supporting him. vlado is usually a pretty good indicator of what the alt-right is like and he definitely praises paul every now and then. and if you point out that trump couldn't possibly be further away from paul policy-wise he goes "WELL I'M NOT SAYING I AGREE WITH PAUL ON EVERYTHING GEEZ."

hell, you could even argue muffin is part of the "supports both trump and paul" movement.

I recognized that economically his policies were more right wing than mine, certainly, but I genuinely did want him to win the primary cause hey, candidate that doesn't oppose gay marriage (unlike Hillary and Obama).

uh... i don't think you have your priorities straight when you support a candidate with disastrous economic policies just because "hey candidate that doesn't oppose gay marriage." and several of my close friends are part of the LGBT community, including my best friend, so i certainly recognize how important the issue of gay marriage is.

(everyone should use "it's happening" image memes, though. those are awesome.)

scarlet was making the point that he doesn't participate in a save my character contest anymore because he gets too invested in those contests, but he phrased it in an unfortunate manner which made it seem to many users as if he thought his own opinions on characters were objectively better than other people's (or something like that). this caused several users to lash out against him with accusations of pretension and elitism, which made him respond with defensive posts. drama drama etc. now we're all cool again, though (i hope).

don't entirely agree with cly's post but i do agree with some of it. i thought the party scene was cool too, and seeing vision for the first time was hype. for me there was definitely more good stuff in the movie than just thor.

yeah, age of ultron is certainly plagued with problems and obviously worse than the first one, but i still enjoyed it. decent movie.

ultron was kinda bad and pointless but not nearly as bad and pointless as the mandarins in iron man 3 imo.

for now i'll just say that i would have been pissed if they killed off hawkeye and i didn't care that they killed off quicksilver, because i wasn't a fan of this interpretation of the character anyway. gimme the fox quicksilver all day. (maybe he can even show up in the MCU if the disney/fox deal goes through, though having two canonical quicksilvers would be pretty weird, i guess.)

I don't think watching someone playing a video game from a few rows back seems the most fun.

i would, especially when it's a speedrunner or game i care about. would have loved to have been in the crowd during the super mario bros. 1 race, for instance. being in the crowd must have been way more intense than watching it on a computer screen, especially during moments like when one of the runners died. not saying i'd love EVERY run - i don't need to see a run of some game i don't give a crap about in the middle of the night when the hall is nearly empty. but there are some runs i'd definitely love to see in person.
