Diversity is great. However, the sad truth is that people will most usually have preference for their own. That shouldn't be said as an excuse to be racist toward everyone who doesn't look like you, so don't get that idea. It's just a realization that most people will/should come to understand.

It's only souls-like when it comes to surface shit. You level up by collecting amrita (souls/blood echos) from enemies. There is a stats screen and progression system similar to soulsborne. There are shrines/bonefires, in which you can rest at to restock your spells and estus flasks. You can summon other players to help you.

That's pretty much where the main similarties end, unless you wanna include that there are different weapon types and it's 3rd person view, which hell, you could include pretty much any 3rd person game at that point.

Nah, he's right. Nioh suffered from poor level design, not enough enemy types, a horrible loot system, and some really bad bosses. The combat is probably the only saving grace of that game.

The DLC corrects most of that, and I assume TC will be getting the complete edition which includes all of the DLC.

I enjoyed most of the levels. There're shortcuts in a lot of the stages that lead you back to the shrine/bonefire, similar to dark souls shortcuts.

The end game (well you can start early but the floors are locked until you beat difficulties) has a mode called Abyss. It's practically boss rush mode if you want but each floor has buffs/debuffs. You can clear 3 randomized small dungeons to get rid of these buffs/debuffs or just go straight for the boss.

It's 4 dungeons, though. Each dungeon has a debuff tied to it, and unless you go with a one shot build (BORING) you'll want to clear all 4 dungeons before the fighting the boss. After you defeat the boss, you can either exit the dungeon, or continue to the next floor. Each time you continue to another floor, one of the random dungeons regenerates, along with a debuff attached to it.

I like both. My assumption is Nier is more like DMC and Nioh is more like Dark Souls. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I love the Devil May Cry series and I love Dark Souls. Is there randomized dungeons in Nioh at all?

no. nioh is very linear and you select stages.

there are no dungeons.

Ackshually... There is an infinite dungeon/diablo rifts type mechanic.

What's wrong with it? I mean, it looks similar to other games in the genre, like soulsborn and nioh. Lot's of evading, parrying, backstabbing. If you like souls style games, this should be right up your alley.

Nioh, if you are into a dark souls esque spinoff, with combat relating to onimusha/ninja gaiden. It's got nier beat on content, but nier has a crazy-ass story that you won't forget. You could spacebar Nioh's story and not miss anything, as it's all about the loot and leveling.

Fully coop, interconnected world (like dark souls), can complete the areas in the order you want (can make it really hard on yourself, or go with the normal progression route), weapon variety, robust character creator, leveling and progression system... Oh my!

I cannot wait to play this until my eyes bleed!

Unless you're trying to off yourself, you won't tp inside of a solid object.

If you are teleporting to a known location, but it's been years and there's a solid object in the location, you'll get like an "invalid teleport location, are you sure you want to proceed?" message, in the form of an impulse, in your brain. You could just be like "Imma tp a few meters to the right, then" and keep queuing that up in the lil tp part of your mind until the impulse goes away.

EDIT: You have, like, these extradimensional teleporation feelers, or some shit, that come out at the begining of your teleport cycle, lettin' you know if it's a bad idea or not. However you wanna explain it, go with that.

Similar to nightcrawler, you can teleport yourself, and up to a certain amount of your own mass. So, like, yourself x2 or 3 your own mass. That includes living and non-living matter.

Basically, yourself and a couple other people, plus the items they and you have on you're/their person.
