Colleges worth their salt recalculate GPAs, removing non-'academic' classes like band and non STEM/Humanities electives, and take into account the academic rigor of your high school and courses. At a selective rigorous boarding school the kids with GPAs like that are mad at themselves for 'only' scoring a 1520 the first time they took the SAT --- |

The clause eventually banning the triangle trade was something of a compromise and somewhat logical since many slave owners worked slaves to death quickly and bought more, but the system ended up reshaping into breeding a self replenishing "stock"... In general many founding fathers wanted an eventual abolishment of slavery because they felt it flew in the face of the Republican values and equality they believed in. | Doe 03/26/18 1:43:03 AM #14 | Looking from a historical view the 'militia' ie the men of the town 13 and older pretty much was 'the army' Washington had great difficulty keeping a uniform Contintenal Army together for various reasons. He had way more success raising the militia in a colony to fight a battle, then they'd all return home because there's crops to till and Indians to defend their kids from. So as long as people had these small community focused lives whose loyalty was to their state/colony before the continent, and there was still threat from the Indians that required militia houses or fear of a British return, it made sense to hold onto the militia There was also the fact that firearms and such were historically kept out of the hands of the masses in Europe to detooth them and weaken revolts and such. The American Revolution was partly won by stuff like the Pennsylvania rifle being such a good gun that everyone outside of a city had for hunting and protection, and so guns and militia got a reputation for being tools of the people against tyranny. Combining those two ideas, the language of the second amendment which is often cited as being weird or vague makes a lot more sense. Nowadays though it's hard to say imo that the second amendment still has a big role. The people don't need to fear defending themselves in a land invasion because of the location of the US and its military power. And the military is not going to listen to politicians and fire on US innocent civilians. --- |

| Doe 03/26/18 1:08:43 AM #27 | I use a program called Honeyview and drop in the Colored Adventures and it works very well imo Physical is certainly the best medium but for all you know you'll be dead before they get to the anime or English print of Steel Ball Run and Jojolion I would at least give colored Vento Aureo a shot. VA seems to be either loved or uncared for depending on the person, so if it doesn't grip you, skip to Steel Ball Run. SBR broke the weekly chapter format among other things and it shows by being really fucking good, and it's an alt timeline so you don't need part 5 or 6. --- |

| Doe 03/26/18 1:03:18 AM #43 | Notice the lack of citation + wikia article tho I believe Old Joseph or Avdol describes Jotaro's stand as representing his fighting spirit but more generally theyre a force that draws inspiration from a person's psyche and soul. See Cinderella, Superfly, Cheap Trick, Moody Blues, Highway to Hell as counterexamples. In Part 6, White Snake can remove a stand from a person's body as a CD disk, and put them in other people for them to use. From what I understand Kenshiro's sensing ability is being able to see the 'fighting aura' of others but that seems to be an attribute exclusive to FotNS characters and their 'fighting styles'. When a stand is created its appearance and abilities may be inspired by the user's fighting spirit, but after that, they're divorced from it. I think there's a lot of precedent for this, the strongest probably being Notorious B.I.G., which is only created upon the death of the user and afterwords is independent. Or Foo Fighters, which is even stated to be its own, tangible intelligent creature, made out of a colony of microscopic plankton. Then there's Superfly, which is just a property given to an electrical tower that represented the opposite of what its wielder wanted afterwards. So this is a big nerd post, but my point boils down to being that saying "Kenshiro can sense fighting aura in his series, Star Platinum looks like that because Jotaro likes fighting, Kenshiro must be able to see SP" seems to fall apart under scrutiny. I dunno I just get really annoyed how the Death Battle videos give themselves the appearance of grandeur or of sporting rigorous analysis when in reality they often make pretty big mistakes. And not saying my nerd post is the end all on the discussion, but they've made plenty of outrageous decisions and calls in the past. The animations are similarly often filled with holes and when someone complains about the inaccuracies, the response seems to be, "Well, the animations are just for entertainment." ...like the cross-canon 'analysis' isn't? I don't think I've ever watched an episode of 'Death Battle' that didn't feel contrived, although I admit I generally can't sit much of the way through them due to their presentation. So I'd like to just ignore its existence, except it and Rooster Teeth / ScrewAttack are very popular in surface-level nerd culture. So I inevitably come into contact and get upset because I can't suspend my irrational fanaticism for IPs I enjoy --- |

They've gotten a couple 'redefinings'/reworks since Part 3 really, especially stuff like part 6 letting people That's really one of my big issues with the 'death battle' series, I don't really care who 'wins' because it's fanboys comparing different universes and canons, but when they have shitty research or stretch the truth it triggers me. For example in Scout v Tracer they used the oft-re-worked item effect that Bonk has in TF2 gameplay instead of its actual canon effect on people >_> When you're comparing stuff as ambiguous as people's souls that leaked out of arrow wounds and being able to feel 'fighting spirit' I'm probably gonna roll my eyes --- |
