I could see SD as Network only moving the needle in the sense that some more people might actually want more WWE wrestling in any given week-- particularly if Raw also drops to 2 hours.

Like me at least if there wasn't a SD I'd more more likely to watch NXT regularly or 205 when I have the network. As it is, on any given week I've pretty much had my fill so it's rare for me to bother with them.

Is the explanation for Shane McMahon turning on Bryan given by Owens and Zayn on SD (assuming they're telling the truth!!) plausible or is that still too Russo a twist for that match?

I love Russo so I will accept either answer graciously, of course. Though I will note in this instance I was trying to not be so much Russoey, but create an out that A. Didn't turn Bryan heel because that's stupid. B. Didn't have Zayn and Owens lose because I didn't care for that. C. Didn't have Bryan lose cleanly his first match back. D. Didn't arbitrarily make Shane come off as dead weight cause that's inconsistent.

But looking at it, when you take into consideration that Shane was just brutally assaulted by the two of em it doesn't make sense for em to straight up be in cahoots either so you gotta twist some stupid explanation.

Yeah I know that's probably more thought than anyone reading gave to any of it. Work with me here!

Owens and Zayn are in the ring... they launch into a story explaining the events this past Wrestlemania. Shane had come to them after Bryan made the challenge for the tag match at mania, that challenge being after Shane was brutally mauled by Owens and Zayn. Shane told them he'd wished Bryan had just fired them properly, but making a tag challenge when Shane was not only assaulted, but also bedridden with diverticulitis... it was total garbage. Shane now looks like a coward if he doesn't fight, but he shouldn't have to fight when he's this beat up. He has a wife, he has kids. He still doesn't like Owens and Zayn, but wants Bryan to pay for putting his livelihood at risk with this reckless matchmaking, and will gladly allow Owens and Zayn to win and get their jobs back by staying out of the match if they just take it easy on him. So they "took him up on the deal." Then, when the match came, well, it was a nice thought, but KO and Sami Zayn still hated Shane's guts, so they beat the hell out of him anyway. And NEITHER ONE OF EM ARE COMING BACK. EVER. WE RUN THIS PLACE NOW!

Orton interrupts em saying he's sick of this yapping, that he's been ending careers for 15 years now, and that he's going to punt some skulls to show them who really runs this show... then AJ comes out as well to denounce Owens and Zayn, and a tag challenge is made for tonight! (86)

Asuka vs Natalya, unofficially for the SD Women's title. Natalya looks uncharacteristically driven here, perhaps finding some appeal in trying to end the streak, but falls nonetheless in a hard fought match. Asuka gives Natalya some props after the match, however. (73)

Bobby Roode is in the ring, he calls out Rusev, saying he wants a proper 1v1 for the title, as a gift for this most sacred of holidays, Rusev Day. Rusev barges down the ramp from the backstage area with a mic. "RUSEV TURNS DOWN NO CHALLENGES ON RUSEV DAY!" Aiden English following him, tries to calm him down a bit, insisting Rusev must be a bit fatigued after that grueling match... Rusev will have none of this calmness! He storms to the ring. (86) Informal US Title match. Competitive throughout, about 10 minutes in Roode begins to show some command of the match, threatening to hit his finisher-- Aiden English cuts off his momentum with a US Title shot to the back of the head. Roode wins by DQ.(72) Aiden puts the boots to Roode-- Rusev stops his attacks, shouts at him for costing him the match. Aiden apologizes, Rusev nods, they head to the back (80)

Owens and Zayn vs AJ Styles and Randy Orton. Orton gets upset mid match when AJ Styles (tactically, not dickishly) tags himself in when Orton is whipped into the ropes. Orton bails on the match. AJ's like "what the hell, man?" as this clearly seems an overreaction. He fights valiantly against Owens and Zayn, lasting a good 10 minutes in a handicap match, but eventually can't keep going. KO and Zayn win.(78)

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn continue with the momentum from their win after a beatdown on AJ Styles, and begin to literally tear the building down. They roam through the backstage area, start destroying random pieces of the set, wrecking wrestlers they encounter. They beat down the New Day, beat down Bobby Roode, beat down Shinsuke Nakamura, and continue their warpath as we fade to black (78)

Smackdown Live! From Puerto Rico!

Carmella starts the show, giving herself a pat on the back for becoming the new champion. Randy Orton interrupts, comes in the ring, and while cornering her says that while she holds that... he can't be responsible, for what he is forced to do... woman or man, he'll show... no mercy. He corners her a bit more aggressively to the point where this becomes a bit uncomfortable. AJ Styles comes out, tells Orton to chill a bit. He has no love for Carmella either-- she used to hang out with that clown Ellsworth after all-- and won't take it easy on her if they get a match, but there's no need to go quite so intense either. Orton still intense, is calmed down a bit and he and AJ both leave. (82)

Renee Young comes out, says that with both Shane and Daniel Bryan out of action and no other matchmakers present this show is going to be a bit freestyle tonight, but asks who Carmella would like to face as her first opponent for the title, if it were all up for her. Carmella thinks a bit-- she thinks Sin Cara is a real bang up guy and a great wrestler, and she'd be honored to face him first. Sin Cara, long thought to be gone, comes out and ~POINTS !!~ at Carmella. Carmella is like "oh you want some right now? WELL I CAN'T MAKE A TITLE MATCH BUT YOU'RE ON." (56) Sin Cara vs Carmella. Cara starts slow and "gentlemanly", hits some armdrags. Well under control. Carmella knocks him off balance and he stumbles into the ref-- she kicks him square in the balls as the ref is stumbling around, then small packages him for the win. She does an over the top celebration. (56)

Primo and Epico Colon are backstage standing in front of a random door, trying to sell Breezango some tickets to Puerto Rico. Breeze shows interest but Fandango tells him to not be so eager, as they are already at Puerto Rico. Rusev then blows through the door, bowling over the Colons, shouting RUSEV DAY!!!! RUSEV DAY!!!!! and parading with his newly won US Title, totally oblivious. Breezango try to give them some fashionable orange safety jackets for their own protection-- the Colons are livid about this mockery and challenge them to a match! (70) Breezango d. The Colons (44)

- I have no event CEs aside from Chaldea for schools, but have a healthy selection of friends with +2 LB CEs
- I don't think the Vitruvian Man currency is really worth it (only really care about warhorse horns cause I have very little, and even then not really because I am unlikely to need many)
- I do want the Self Portraits for claws and grease
- I do want a lot of Mona Lisas for a bunch of secret gems and the roots + tearstones

Is it more efficient to farm Nobu node (drops all 3) or Assassin + Caster node for the self portraits and Mona Lisas + Hearts.

Let's ignore clearing efficiency for now (though it's clearly Caster >> other two)

I make no priority to burn Bronze though-- to me those are the most practical apple and something I don't mind carrying along for non-event times for times when I just feel like playing a bit more.

The problem with splitting it to prevent exhaustion is:

1. HoF and NXT exist. A lot of the fans are following this. Do you then need to make the entirety of the festivities 3 days?
2. People must book their trips and stuff to stay for an additional day to get the whole show.
3. People are going to have some amount of burnout from X consecutive days of wrestling shows I think, even if it's ultimately lessened compared to a 7 hour marathon.

Well my point is that Roman basically has Hogan's match paradigm without the charisma of Hogan's character. You need one or the other. Plausibility or likability. If you don't have either you have Hogan when the fans were starting to turn on him or Roman Reigns pretty much all the time. Cena never had it that bad because you could always believe what he was doing by some stretch because the guy at the very least had the feats of strength and match structure to back it up-- even if you didn't particularly like Cena you could begrudgingly accept that he earned his wins.

The festival boost is real for some huh.

Anyway I just realized I don't have a clear choice for the pre-selected set anymore. I got Lightning's Burst making the XIII set, my previous choice, pointless... so like... uhh, what do I get now?

FF1 - Shield is dupe but one I don't mind having. FF1 is a scarce realm for synergy.
FF2 - Think that burst for Firion is decent? Minwu SSB is +10 MND on my favorite most used healer.
FF3 - I have the burst but having a 6* Wind Boost isn't bad I guess. Most of my wind sources can't or don't want to use spears though. SSB seems good.
FF7 - Burst is the only one I don't have, but it's a good burst on a character I like on a Dark Boost Katana.
FF8 - This is still the "cool but impractical" choice I'm strangely tempted about. Having none of these items helps. The SSB is ironically probably the most useful item here.
FF14 - First fire boost rod (have Vivi's staff and Terra's sword already though)
FF15 - Have almost no synergy in this realm. I also have Noctis's LMR so this might have some use?

I have no problem with Roman's look btw I think that's one of the few things that are relatively okay about him.

1. I don't know a single thing about what actually drives him aside from wanting to win.
2. Doesn't really get upset about anything.
3. Usually is beat up a lot more than he dishes out.
4. Overuse of Superman Punch. It is not an impressive looking move. This is half the reason you can't believe Roman's victories. The other half is point 3 combined with the fact that he just kicks out way too much.

Those are the issues. It all combines to create a guy that not only strains suspension of disbelief, but a guy you don't want to strain it for-- it's pretty much the worst problem. Guys in the past with issues were usually one or the other. Like Cena's offense aside from the STF generally looks more or less credible. Hogan for most of his run had an overwhelming personality that you couldn't help but root for despite most of his offense and in match mannerisms being total nonsense.

I think "takes most of the match, loses to a couple of moves" is a problem that plagues WWE matches in general right now, not just Braun matches. Even the main event level stuff. It's really lazy. Used to be something that mostly occurred in Triple H and women's matches but it seems to be spreading more and more these days.

If you believe the narrative presented, Roman has legitimately earned more of his opportunities at the title than not. He's had to win number one contender matches or whatever.

So then if those people aren't going to believe that, why are they going to believe another storyline you present them?

I mean the whole thing is seeing the forest for the trees anyway. People wouldn't care if Roman was "the chosen one" if he had an actual compelling character to go with it. Like people would cheer for Strowman to beat Brock not just because "he's not Roman" but because he's actually had fun car crash shenanigans to make people enjoy him. Roman is just some guy with greasy hair that wins a lot. There's nothing really compelling about him whatsoever.

I know preaching to the choir here but this is seriously the dumbest storyline in a long time. This is Goldberg refusing to follow the script levels.

And Meiko Satomura was in Stardom in like 2015 as a sort of invader type I guess since she's mostly from Sendai Girls pro wrestling or whatever, where Stardom was regarded as roughly a bunch of jokes she refused to laugh at, which was a funny contrast to all the wacky characters there.

She had a good feud with Kairi Hojo where Kairi had to use GRIT AND DETERMINATION to basically force her to take her seriously as I recall it. Voltch can probably correct me on some details there but yeah she was possibly my favorite on the show, even if she's not really from it per se. Guests, ya know!

Well I personally don't like Yoshiko and would immediately fire her in every game if I were to use Stardom

But I also don't really watch enough Stardom to have much attachment to her (or Act) as a fixture of the show. Everything I watched was after she was out-- though I did see the incident itself. I'd probably keep Act because I liked her look and gimmick-- uhhh, but... anyway...

That in mind I think the comparison to Sexy Starr (and a lesser extent Chris Benoit) is an apt one. But sticking with Sexy Starr, as someone who does watch a lot of Lucha, while I also dislike Sexy Starr I wouldn't want to cut her because she's an important terrible part of the show's mixture. So if Yoshiko was a fairly important part of the show, I would oppose cutting her. Now if she was just some random filler low card that had a tantrum and wanted to shoot on someone half her size one day then I wouldn't be opposed to cutting her, really.

Well, new Cruiserweight champion Cedric Alexander, who says the Cruiserweight division is coming back to Raw, and he'll kick as much time wasting ass as he needs to to make it happen. (65) Cedric Alexander's quick offense catches Elias before he can really get set, and he manages to get the upset win (52)

Alexa approaches Dana Brooke. She's sure to clarify that Dana has no enemies first and that they can talk civilly. Dana nods. Alexa successfully psyches Dana into fighting Nia Jax without much selling needed. (54) Nia Jax d. Dana Brooke in a squash. Alexa Bliss goes in for the post match attack, but Nia isn't even winded, so Alexa shrieks and runs away instead. (50)

Rollins and Balor are backstage discussing the match. Balor chastises Rollins for losing to Miz tripping over his feet and falling forward with Rollins. Rollins corrects him, that he's pretty sure that he lost to Miz's Skull Crushing Finale. Balor insists that's what he just said. Miztourage come in to mock them and extol Miz's virtues. Rollins and Balor challenge them to a match and the Miztourage accept. (76) Rollins and Balor d. The Miztourage. Axel and Bo last longer than you'd expect but the match isn't really ever in doubt. (79)

Miz vs Roman. The Miztourage are not present, but Miz uses a combination of cheating and scouting Roman to keep it competitive. Miz stuffs some sort of object in the middle turnbuckle pad early and constantly-- eventually Roman spears that turnbuckle, then Miz rolls him up and grabs the tights to win. (78)

Miz gloats about how he doesn't need to hit Roman with 12 finishers to beat him because he's smart and he'll always be one step ahead of DA BIG DAWG. Miz leaves. Roman who wasn't down long, gets the mic, and to an avalanche of boos from that wacky post mania crowd goes into some monologue about he's going to get that Universal Championship back if it's the last thing he does... BUHLEE-- out of nowhere, Samoa Joe blindside attacks him! He gets him in the Kokina Clutch... Roman struggles and struggles, but eventually is choked out. (75) Samoa Joe in a frothing rage, cuts a promo, saying as long as he is here, this punk ass fake Samoan disgrace Roman will NEVER get a title shot again. NEVER. BELIEVE THAT. He drops the mic on the unconscious Roman to raucous cheers from the crowd as we fade to black (89)

It's still Monday in Hawaii, which is where this Raw is being shown in front of. It's fair.

Monday Night Raw

Roman Reigns starts the show, complaining about how Carmella's contract can't be used to cash in on his title. He calls out Kurt Angle to rectify this. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S interrupts him-- she asks him if he's actually stupid enough to think a guy who got his head smashed with a sledgehammer would be here tonight, then she says she knows he's an idiot because he doesn't know how Money in the Bank works. She didn't do anything the contract didn't say she could, and if Roman wants a rematch he can have it ANY TIME-- after tonight-- since she's not even sure she should be here since she's a Smackdown talent, and she leaves. Roman starts to call out Triple H instead-- Miz interrupts him, says if he wants a title shot he can have one against him for the hands down most prestigious title on Raw, tonight. He'll even leave the Miztourage backstage, since he's sure he can handle a guy who lost to Carmella of all people-- Carmella who is passing him, gets all up in Miz's face for this, but Roman accepts the match. (86)

We see Matt Hardy walking backstage... he says... AH KNEW YOU'D COME. We pan over to Jeff Hardy, who is... just normal Jeff Hardy despite his appearance in The Ultimate Deletion. He deadpans a "hey Matt" like nothing's wrong. Matt then shouts at the nearby Dash of Wilds and Daw's Son, saying they must battle immediately to finalize the REVIVAL of the Hardy Boyz. (75) The Hardy Boyz vs The Revival. Jeff tries the usual Hardy Boyz tandem offense-- Matt's wackiness isn't quite gelling with it right but it works well enough to get the win. (70)

Backstage, Alexa approaches Sasha Banks, says Sasha should really try to turn around her fortunes in last night's Battle Royal by giving Nia Jax a sound thrashing! Sasha considers it, as Bayley enters the frame... Alexa starts to give her the exact same pitch but is cut off by Bayley screaming a warcry and Sasha and Bayley brawling with one another. Sasha throws her hands up and walks away as they continue to fight (76)

The Bar d. Slater and Rhyno (70) Backstage, Triple H arrives at the arena, obviously distraught. Curt Hawkins sees him. Curt Hawkins is a dick. He says Triple H should FACE THE FACTS-- he lost last night! H doesn't take this well, and does the mad Triple H face and says MY WIFE IS CRIPPLED as he begins to assault Hawkins. He pulls out his sledgehammer-- Braun Strowman flies into the frame shouting that that's his tag team partner and yeti mauls him. He carries him atop the limo, then dunks Triple H into the Limo's Sunroof. Then tips over the Limo. The mightily struggles and pushes it over a ledge. It falls about 10 feet-- BAH GAWD THERE'S A HUMAN BEING IN THERE. WHO IS LEFT TO RUN RAW NOW!?! (98)

Kane doesn't care if no one is here to run Raw, he just wants to hurt people. Apollo answers the call. (74) Kane d. Apollo (56)

Alexa Bliss continues her quest to get someone to fight Nia, muttering to herself about where Mickie is. She tries to convince absolution. Before she can get far, screaming Alicia Fox shouts about how it's payback time(??)... the three brawl! Alexa sighs and walks away (58)

It's not that weird when you think about the progression of who has carried the company. Bret Hart was really your only long time fixture that had a chance to try and overlap with a non-American. I guess Edge vs ??? never appearing is somewhat surprising but blame Cena.

NXT you had Owens, Neville, and Nakamura controlling at different times so it was easy to amass quite a lot of them.

Sure. I'm just saying I would disagree those units were actually bad for it. They're bad units for SI that got demoted but really they're a net neutral to what the pool was, which is pretty much the story for all the pools-- you weren't using many 3*s for SI at this point in the game aside from a very small number, and that ratio is probably improving with the good demotions. If you're a new player, yeah maybe those "bad" ones demoting will matter a bit because you're gonna have a harder time getting repositions and stuff but eh.

Yeah I know what he's saying I'm just saying I disagree with the general assessment because the ratio of stuff demoting that's good for SI is about on par with the current 3* pool for SI. Like you could say the reds that demote are bad at a 5:1 ratio, but I would argue that 1 in 5 current 3* reds are actually good SI units so it isn't hurting anything.

Then again my perspective is probably pretty skewed because there frankly isn't a single 3* character that I find worth spending feathers on for SI at this point. I've got plenty of Fury 3s and Repositions, and uhh... well I'm sure there are some other good 3* skills in there.

See like, I don't really agree with just taking it in terms of total numbers.

Like you say "Priscilla demoting is bad" but it's like... why? She's on par with the current pool of 3* colorless units-- it's only diluting the pool if the pool was any good to begin with. If anything I'd say her demoting is good because I don't have to fear getting another 5* Priscilla now.
