It's about shining light on the lack of comfort women (And to an extent, men) feel during certain interactions, and trying to create a more mindful society. Sexual harassment is obviously a huge part of it, but not every "metoo" story is about someone who was sexually harassed, and not every metoo story is about a man who needs to change their behavior.

If you're not actually reading up on it or engaging in discussions its very easy to see it as "women ask men to stop being men, men reluctantly agree without argument" because those are the types of stories that are the loudest if you're not participating in the discourse.

Then there are also cases of men making women uncomfortable despite them not doing anything malicious or sexual, these are of course important stories for acknowledging and changing male behavior and opening up discussion, but if you're on the outside its very easy to hear a fractured more extreme version of the basic moral like "It's never ok to comment on a woman's looks" or "you should never acknowledge a woman you don't know walking on the street"

Also, other games will have cute continuations of stories in other games post game scenes, that sort of hint what the cannon ending of each game is, but it's mostly for fun, and if you like the nis games you'll enjoy the way they weave things together, and it will point you in the direction of more games to play. For instance, I started playing disgaea after seeing laharl in a bonus stage of phantom brave, and started playing makai kingdom after seeing zetta in a disgaea bonus scene.

Yeah all the Nis games are in the same universe to some extent but you don't really need to worry about it unless you're confused about the bonus characters you unlock (mostly postgame, but disgaea 2 gives you disgaea 1 characters during the main game.)

All of them are playable without playing the other, except for disgaea d2, which is a sequel to disgaea 1

I think it was the cutscene where the player is tasked with staring at a Slowpoke that turned me off to the game.
Kudos to Gamefreak for trying to add more in-game events and interactions with Pokemon in the overworld.
But this cutscene is literally the player being asked to stare at a Slowpoke. Followed by a 10-15 second clip of the player doing just that.
How is that supposed to be fun?

I think this is the big misunderstanding when I say "look at what pokemon looks like for the next 15 years"

It's not the throwing the pokeball, it's not the lack of wild battles, it's the fact that game freak has consistently shown they don't understand what makes their game fun, and more important, what makes their game tedious as hell.

Look at the jump from s/m to us/um what did they give us? They just jam packed it with more interruptions, more ways to artificially slow down the game, the game has been jam packed with so many tedious forced cutscenes about friendship, teamwork, and how to play pokemon. USUM had 10 different cutscenes that had a guy stroking his mustache talking about "hmmmm... light is a good thing....more research needs to be done...." The last trial in US/UM is literally "uhh I dunno just fly around and do all the trials again I guess"

The games are constantly rounding down edges, which is fine for a lot of games, make them playable for beginners by all means. But pokemon has been doing it so long, there's just no edges left. Even in a nuzlocke run, I suspect this is going to be more of a Kanto Walking simulator than anything else.

It's not just that let's go looks boring, it's that it looks soulless. Remember my Kanto topic? Things can change in regions. Things can grow with their hardware. There are thousands of opportunities to explore by remaking Kanto, but to just recreate it on a 1-1 grid, completely flat, with the same four buildings in every town? It's just a good way to say "Eh we don't really care" Pewter town is on the top of a mountain, and pallet town is at sea level, is it really THAT hard to give a sense of elevation between the two? I'm all for game freak trying to make bold changes, but if you watched the actual interview in the treehouse the focus of the game was "to make it easier for people, help long time fans ease back into the series" bitch I was 10 when these games came out, and I figured it out then without someone stopping me every 10 minutes to explain the mechanics, you think I can't figure it out as a 30 year old?

So yeah, this is absolutely what we're going to see in future games. Maybe not mechanics wise, but certainly content and overall effort wise, pokemon is done being fun.

By the time we return to kanto 20 years from now there will probably just be an "auto" button that runs through the game for you

I notice a lot of us got married and have kids, but I only really have a side view of who is in what situation. Let's keep each other updated!

Personally, after buying a house last year with my wife, she decided she didn't want to have kids ever while she was pregnant. This lead to us getting a divorce, me moving out, and buying a new, much much smaller house. Me and her are still on good terms and pretty good friends, but even the smoothest divorce is pretty darn rough.

Divorce is really an incredible thing, I spent my entire lift dreading it because of my parents splitting when I was little, but now that I'm starting to come out of the other end, there's a lot of positives. The process itself is devastating, being a divorced man is akin to being a man in a mental institute and trying to convince yourself you aren't insane. The thoughts that go through your head are almost cartoonishly villainous, and they are completely relentless. For a few months it it was like having an audio recorder strapped to my head that said things like "You don't really deserve love" "do you REALLY have a reason to stay alive" "Everything you love learns to hate you" To anyone who gets to the area, the key to overcoming is to just change the wording of these phrases to positive critiques "You need to become someone who deserves love" "You need to better yourself for the sake of everyone who has ever helped keep you alive" "You don't get to stop loving just because other people hate you" These phrases, instead of being cruel and heavy, have pushed me to improvement.

Which brings me to the positive side, I've become such a productive person because of the dark cloud of gloom constantly strangling me. If every time you leave dishes unwashed you're reminded of your failure as a partner and husband, you start to wash those dishes!! I've spent the year learning woodworking and Mandarin, and I've become fairly proficient fairly fast just because I'm using almost all my free time to meet these goals.

I decided to do try international dating, a common tactic for divorced men. I felt a little embarrassed about it at first, but I like it a lot! Technology makes it so your relationship is 90% the same whether your partner lives with you or is across the sea, plus culture and language exchange is such a great foundation to start building a relationship on. She's coming to visit next week, so I guess we'll see if she's planning on murdering me and stealing all my stuff (if she does the jokes on her, I have no stuff!)

Anyway you guys don't have to go as in depth as me, I just started typing and this turned legit real. I guess I haven't been able to collect my thoughts about the past few months until now
