Lucasfilm and management let a complete fuck-wad direct the middle movie of a trilogy, knowing full well the ideal movie he wanted to develop, was one that divided a fanbase, and was controversial. Johnson literally has an old interview where he states the kind of movie he would want to make if he had the chance to do a Star Wars film is one where when people left the movie theater, half the people liked it, and the other half of the people hated it. He literally said he would want to divide the fanbase...google the interview. EDIT: (heres the interview, YouTuber reads transcript of interview starting at 1:40)  After that mess that was TLJ, the fans were fed up, especially because instead of coming out and saying ''Hey, sorry, we took a chance that we shouldnt have taken, and it backfired...we wont inject real world politics and social agendas into these movies anymore''--they doubled down, and attacked the fans, calling the people that didnt like it ''womanizers, scared of strong women, racists/bigots, a bunch of basement dwelling neckbeards'' etc etc and continue to blame everyone but themselves for this hot garbage they're pushing out. Even now, with Solo failing, they're doing everything they can to blame memorial day weekend for the low ticket sales. I've legit never seen a company dodge taking responsibility like this before over something so blatantly their fault. The people that pay them have literally told them how to fix this mess, and they insult them, and say their opinion doesnt matter. Normally, Disney and/or Lucasfilm would have found a scapegoat to put all this on, and fired those people/person. If i were shareholders, i would tell Kuckleen Kennedy she needs to re-direct the franchise or step down. Episode 9 is going to be a failure at this rate, and that is a main installment in the franchise--not some side story. Star Wars is about taking 2 hours to get away from real world bullshit like politics and social agendas--we fucking deal with enough of that bullshit on a daily basis as it is, we dont go to the movie theater to see that integrated into our Star Wars films. This just goes to show that SJW ideas and agendas do nothing but ruin entertainment. 90% of the people who would bitch and complain about a lack of diversity or strong women arent even the ones who would contribute to the sales to begin with. She married the love of her life, and they adopted a baby boy 2 years ago, and are great parents. If they wouldnt have been able to get married or adopt that little baby boy, I wouldnt have thought it was fair. Not sure what that has to do with anything though. I think youre the one who doesnt know any gay people. Just like any regular grown adult, they dont concern themselves with, or seek to destroy other peoples lives or reputation just because they have differing views, like thinking being gay is gross, or not wanting their kids to end up being gay etc. Maybe my classification is wrong, and thats what youre butthurt about. The things I listed arent really even anti-gay or intolerant of gay people, but you highlighted the words anti-gay specifically. Tons and tons of normal people are against gay marriage, or find it taboo, and statistically speaking there would have to be considerably more normal (what the populace consider to be normal) people against it, than weird people. Especially with how people are shamed for their views, or have their careers/lives ruined because people find out about their views, people that are normal, and anti-gay etc. arent going to be voicing their position on it, because of how immature and sensitive others are about opinions and views that differ from theirs (and yes, its obviously like this on both side so of the aisle). Same deal with conservatives in general. The media paints all conservative types to be alt-right, or at the very least, have used the alt-right to define what it means to be a true conservative. This is objectively wrong, besides frame rate being a prioritywhich is multi-faceted anyways, because of the choice between 30 and 60. Developers up until this generation almost always chose 30 over 60 not because they couldnt achieve 60, but purposely, to achieve the best graphics possible. When a developer does this in todays games, they are criticized and treated like theyre doing comitting a crime against humanity. If you thought my post was Excusing the lack of visual fidelity improvement, then you misinterpreted my post. Increased resolution does help with image quality, but resolution also comes down to what size TV you are playing on. 1080p will look good on most all sets, except the very huge ones, like 75+, to which then 4K comes into play as a more viable option. Tv is broadcast in 720p/1080i (interlaced) and is plenty acceptable. Games have not maxed out image quality for 720p, otherwise they would look acceptable even now. All increased resolution does for us at this point, is give an advantage in some games because you can see more detail, and while making the picture more clear, makes graphical flaws clearly visible. I game in 4K every day, and have for over a year now, and some games in 4K end up showing their flaws that I had failed to see prior to upgrading to a 4K set. One of the biggest drawbacks I see in games I play in 4K is draw distance, and LOD (level of detail scaling and blending). Pop in becomes painfully crystal clear pretty much across all games that have big open environments, and even in ones that dont. Graphics and graphical advances are still not polished and ironed out completely for 1080p, let alone 4K. | N3xtG3nGam3r 04/22/18 6:49:23 PM #18 | Well, I agree, nobody has been pushing the envelope graphically as of late...mostly this whole generation for the most part, but that is pretty much wholely because the fan base for each platform has been going to warso to speakover resolution and frame rate, which in turn has caused first party developers (the devs who DO typically push the envelope) to focus on hitting target frame rates and keeping a static, solid, resolution. The jump between Ps1 and OG Xbox were huge because render resolution stayed the same, but the hardware improved. Then from OGXbox to the Xbox 360, it was mostly the same dealyou went from SD to in between SD and HD (some call it SUB-HD)...but majority of people were not on the 1080p train yet, so HD back then was 720p, which isnt a huge jump from SD...but big enough that it was visibly better. Enter X1 and PS4, and the console war has devolved into which version of each game has 60fps average instead of 58fps, or one game running at 1032p instead of full 1080. The difference between 720p and 1080p is similar to the difference between 1080p and 2160p (4K). So if I were someone waiting for a big leap in graphicsit aint gonna happen on whatever new console comes out with next, because the hardware will be built to utilize 4K, which is 4x 1080p, and the framebuffer alone requires massive amounts of ram and raw power to fill and render all those pixels. This is what everyone supposedly wanted though. When the main focus of each new game is resolution and frame rate then graphics will ALWAYS be compromised. The kids that did columbine were taking certain medications as well if i remember correctly.
