Mainstream media has always been stagnant. The past just seems better because there was more time for gems to emerge; if you look at any decade as a whole, there's more formulaic lowest-common-denominator than stuff that is worth while.

It might even be a category mistake to say media can be stagnant, because ultimately, humanity has always been entertained by very basic and common motifs. Masterworks of art and entertainment are just the perfection of these common motifs, and it's ridiculous to expect perfection at all times. EDIT: What I mean by this is that instead of saying media is stagnant, it might make more sense to say it's static* because what underlies media never really changes.

The story isn't as good as the way the story is presented (small things like bumping into Isamu and Chiaki); the story is definitely not as good as Persona' stories.

Random battles are pretty annoying. but about halfway through the game it gets to the point where you can just auto everything

Ok, so it's untrue. But how do you feel about the fact that what you're spending on the !ilitary (a lot) could be spent n healthcare?

When over 50% of all your taxes go towards entitlements, there's a case to be made that throwing another 10% at the problem isn't going to fix it.

I don't know how you tax people in the US, but if you're not vertaxing low income earners then universal healthcare should save them more money. What about a mixed system with private and public healthcare?

What percentage of the federal budget is the military? Hint: it's not "most."

It's probably more than Japan spends on healthcare, but that's just a guess :)

That's the sad & frustrating part. Some people are strong enough to still have a semi fulfilling life even with a lot of pain involved. Optimism is a strong mother fucker that not a lot of people here know about. Dying isn't a cure to most sick people, its defeat. Its easy forva healthy person to treat unhealthy people like a monopoly cause it's not a reality to them. To them it's just something that happens to people. The amount of thought you put into sick people is pathetic

So just answer the fucking question, then: Do you support euthanasia? I'm not saying I support a "monopoly on health".. I'm asking if, along with your support for government assistance to life, you ALSO support government assistance to death.

I honestly don't know the depths of euthanasia so Im not gonna state a half assed opinion on it.

That's fair. You understand that there's nuance to that debate and that it's not as simple as "either you support people's right to die or you're human garbage." All I ask is the same level of consideration when people talk about healthcare. The people arguing against universal healthcare aren't all bad people, and you do yourself a disservice by labeling them as such. There are real consequences to implementing a program like that, and real debates can be had on "how many people are we willing to push into poverty to save people who can't afford their own healthcare"? Everything costs money, and giving healthcare away means we're going to have to take from something else. A lazy person just says "take it all from the military" or "tax the rich", but they're taking the same surface level understanding that you recognize as insufficient to form an opinion on euthanasia.

EDIT: The reality is that someone is going to have to suffer to ease another person's suffering, and at some point there is a recognition that you can't end all suffering, so then it becomes a debate about which suffering is to be allowed to reduce someone else's suffering, which is an EXTREMELY difficult question.

No one in Canada is poor because of healthcare tax. we don't even tax poor people very heavily.

Speaking of Gundam, where should I start?

I'll list the ones I've seen.

For UC timeline:

0079 > 08th MS Team > 0080 > 0083 > Zeta > Char's Counter Attack > Unicorn Re: 0096

If you don't mind subtitles, you could add ZZ after Zeta, F91 after Unicorn, and Victory after F91. They all follow the same continuity and that is the chronological order.

If you want to branch out of that, I've seen and liked these:

G Gundam
Gundam Wing
Gundam 00

I haven't seen Seed, Seed Destiny, Age, X, Turn A, or Iron-blooded Orphans yet.

X is pretty good, SEED is underrated and Destiny isn't as bad as people say. Turn A is slow going but the animation is fucking gorgeous. Honestly, F91 is actually a strong candidate for a first title if you don't mind bad pacing.

i agree that language shouldn't be absolutely forced to change over night. but there has to be a group of people advocating a change in language if it's going to happen at all. people don't randomly decide to change things one day, there's always a group of people behind it.

i'm more interested in talking about how intersectionality has become a category equivalent to society or economy in terms of concepts we use to organize our world

I wouldn't say there's a group of people behind it either. In fact I'd say the opposite. If you need to promote the change, then its unneeded. Just begin using the language, if it catches on, then it was necessary. If it doesn't, then obviously people found no use for it.

And the issue with trying to categorize these, I guess I'll call them gender distributions, is that I don't see anyway to categorize them in any meaningful way that again, doesn't just continually divide down to the individual. I mean really, the absolute most I can see working is a something along the lines of Masculine male, feminine male, and something like a neutral male, and then the same for females. People already kinda use these, like saying "manly man", but even those distinctions aren't entirely necessary and are more used to add flavor than anything else. I mean people argue against the binary genders because they don't want to be put in a box, but making even further divisions in those genders just puts you in a smaller box lol. Being under the label "male" gives you so much freedom in what that means, and I think thats best anyways since people's "label" can really change with their disposition or just how they're feeling that day. So what use would it even be to make a distinction like that that changes with the wind?

Look man I'm not saying I'm right, I've just had this discussion a bunch and never run into someone who's explained a logical or rational reason to think any differently. Its why I don't really agree with the color analogy you used earlier, there's a use for labeling "mauve" as something other than "purple", but genders aren't colors, and they're not used in the same way either, in fact I'd say their differences support the notion that there's no use for any further division in gender labels.

If you've got some knock out point, I'd love to hear it. I'm legit open to other points of view, I really just haven't heard any that don't always resort back to "But what about how people feel?" which just isn't a good argument to me.

what if it was the case that we discovered that masculine men are best paired up with masculine women and neutral men are best paired up with feminine women? wouldn't you want to know what 'complex' gender you're most compatible with?
