"lol @ comparing slavery era problems to segregation era social problems"

How cute, you think today and the 50s are remotely comparable. Never taking you guys seriously again. And just to preempt you, don't really care if you took me seriously to begin with.

"how cute, you think the 1950s and the 1850s are remotely comparable"

You think what you're doing here is poignant, but it kinda falls flat on its face when there is demonstratively no institutional racism going on anymore.

It's almost like different states/countries have different laws about marijuana or something. Also, you're assuming a racial divide that doesn't exist.

this is such a non-response

i'm sure you would probably find that in states where cannabis is illegal, blacks are incarcerated more. i don't know what you mean by 'racial divide' in this context, i'm just saying that it's obviously one social problem that some minorities face. at the very least be charitable and grant that there is -at least one- discernible issue- most people already agree on this point, are you just being contrarian?

ok. so because there are no (explicit) legal or policy problems, there are no problems at all? it's not even potentially possible that legal and political issues still exist, even if they are not written on paper?

Not the ones touted by most race activists, no.

There is no epidemic of police violence against black people if you adjust for the black population's violent crime rate.

Black poverty is better explained by black single-parent household rates than by some nebulous "discrimination" explanation.

There is no problem of underrepresentation of black people in the media when you adjust for the country's black population size relative to other races.

Can you name an issue facing the black community that is unquestionably the fault of the government or other state institutions?

i don't think a social problem has to be the fault of the government for there to be a movement organized around ending that problem. but i guess one example everyone is aware of is the difference in cannabis culture. if you look around the internet, there are tons of articles about well off white people "using cannabis for yoga, how quirky", while black people are incarcerated regularly for the very same activity.

i don't have facts on hand, but maybe you can check to see if white and black people are arrested evenly for cannabis use? we know that usage rates aren't too uneven, so they should get arrested at the same rate, right?

so racial profiling policies don't exist at all?

The only "racial profiling policies" on the books are to affirm that racial profiling is not acceptable. Find one PD where racial profiling is part of the code of conduct.

jim crow doesn't sound as bad as slavery, how is that any different from contemporary problems not seeming as bad as jim crow laws?

Because there aren't any laws or policies in place right now that target black people, or any other minority for that matter (except asians getting screwed over by AA).

so racial profiling policies don't exist at all? you're also not refuting my central point, that the problems of today might not be as dire as those in the past, but they are still problems that need to be addressed, and are often problems people like to pretend don't exist because they are not the target of those issues.

Feel free to name some problems even remotely comparable to the Jim Crow laws.

also even if i did name some problems (that i have personally experienced), you would just say they don't exist

There's only two governmental policies I can think of that target specific demographics based on race or gender: the draft and affirmative action.
