If they're going to make a 3DS-sized Switch, that sounds like something several years away. If that is in their plans, I doubt it would affect what they're doing with the 3DS, seeing as 3DS titles have been trickling in slowly lately. Most of them were probably already in development before the Switch came out.

If the Switch is anything like most of their handhelds, then I would say it is more likely to come out next year, in fact they might announce it at the Nintendo Direct around E3. They really only have to reduce the size by half which isn't that much of a technical feat, especially for a console that is already over 6 months old.

Face it, the 3DS will be dead soon. Not much point in Nintendo continuing to support it now that they have the Switch, though I agree it is better at being portable.

They are probably waiting for a Switch Mini (Basically a Switch the size of the 3DS) before they completely kill it off. At that point, the merging of their handheld and home console markets will be complete.

They are simulation racing games. That is opposed to something like Need for Speed which is an arcade racing game. The difference being that Need for Speed has simpler mechanics and less customization (and also a faster feel in the racing).

A driving simulator would be something like Euro Truck Simulator or Ford Simulator.

Ultima 5 and 6 had pretty good battle systems, it was turn based but it also felt like a battle could be waged anywhere. You didn't need a special battle screen like Ultima 4 (which a lot of early JRPGs based their system on) yet it wasn't as confusing as the first 3 games. Fallout 1 and 2 are also pretty good.

I hate FFXII, 90% of the game is basically watching characters perform actions based on however you setup their gambits. I have no idea why everyone complains about the "auto-battle" in XIII yet somehow this game gets a pass. The most difficult boss in the game can literally be beat with proper gambits and leaving your console on for 12 hours, zero actual interaction from the player.

Resting metabolic rate will differ slightly from person to person, yes, but this difference is almost completely negligible. IIRC, the difference between a person among the 'slowest' metabolism and the 'fastest' metabolism is something like 600kcals. And that's comparing the best and worst (depending on how you look at it) case scenarios.

The vast majority of people fall into a range within roughly 300kcals of each other. That's about the amount of calories you'd get out of a 20 ounce soda.

So no. There's no such thing as 'not being able to put on weight' anymore than there are people who 'just can't lose weight'. It's almost invariably due to a diet they fundamentally do not understand. They're either greatly underestimating the amount of calories they eat, or overestimating if they're fat or skinny respectively.

You'd have to vibrate like a god damn sex toy 24-7 to burn off an excess of 2000 calories if you're not busting your ass exercising.

I should also add that there are incredibly rare scenarios in which people can't put on weight or cannot take weight off. But those are extremely rare cases and often have very serious physical ramifications. In order for that to be true with what's his face, he'd have to have diarrhea almost constantly.

While that all sounds nice, it isn't substantiated by any scientific facts, for example:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2955913/
https://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/nutrition/why-some-people-can-eat-a-lot-and-stay-thin.html
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/discoblog/2009/03/17/why-do-some-people-never-get-fat-scientists-may-have-the-answer/

Yes, there are people who claim the same thing you do, but they also don't have any scientific studies to back up their claims. Even in the conservative estimates, people say that you can burn almost 1000 more calories then someone else based solely on genetics.

That doesn't always work, especially if you have teenage metabolism. I used to eat a ton when I was in high school (like about 2X to 3X as much as I eat now), and I couldn't even break 110lbs.

That's really not how it works man. Unless you're running a marathon every day and not eating the calories to make up for the energy expenditure, then you're eating less than you think you are/were.

Just like everything else, calories have to adhere to physics. They don't just disappear into the ether.

It sounds like you have no idea how metabolisms work.

It is absolutely possible to eat a ton of food and not gain any weight, some of it is due to working out a lot, but when you are younger it can be because you just naturally burn calories faster then someone else. And this does change with age, usually once you get into your 20's.

And it doesn't "disappear into the ether", it leaves your body through waste, typically urine.

I do recommend doing the pre-cooking, not because you end up with under-cooked chili, but because the ground beef ends up clumping together if you don't.

Yes, and?

How does a majority of people taking a principled stance against this business model help with the small number of people willing to put five-figures into a single title?

I don't think you've thought through the economic scale.

It doesn't, and it doesn't need to because those people are insignificant to the bigger picture.

GTA Online makes more money in a day then most games make in their lifetimes. And the reason they do it is because they have this business model. It isn't because they are exploiting a few gambling addicts, it is because it works for them. A handful of people aren't spending millions of dollars a day on one game, it is literally millions of people spending a few dollars here and there. That is what makes this model work, not a few people who don't know how to spend money properly.

I pick the race that gives me the best bonuses for the class I want to play as, then customize them to look the most like me while still retaining what makes them their race. Best bang for the buck as far as gameplay is concerned, but probably boring as far as actual role playing.

That attitude breaks down when you have a fraction of a fraction putting ten grand into a single title. We've reached a point where games are platforms for reaching those people. It doesn't matter if most of us take a principled stance, because these systems are designed with the knowing intent that they will ruffle the feathers of most people.

That is like saying because a fraction of a fraction of men can't control themselves when they see a woman in a mini skirt that women should never wear mini skirts. Hell, even the "ruffle the feathers" stance fits in as well given most of the social media stance on dress codes nowadays.

They are doing it to make money, and if they stop making money then they will stop doing it. This is literally the fault of the kid and/or his parents, not the company that is implementing micro-transactions.

It's happened before, that is how John Quincy Adams became president despite being the 2rd favorite candidate in popular and electoral votes.

I like Arby's, they are just in a weird part of town (not bad, weird) so I never go to them.

How is Arbys able to buy anyone else when it doesnt seem like anybody likes Arbys...

o.0 I've never met anyone who dislikes Arbys. The food is delicious, it's just expensive.

Growing up, it was always the opposite for me. My mom always got the 5 roast beef sandwiches for $5 deal. Basically an easy way to feed 2 adults and a child for $5.
