I'm kind of surprised that the reaction to "Paul Manifort has been served an arrest notice and was wiretapped" is

"Aha! Trump was right, Obama was wiretapping him."

Like...rewind for a minute; why was wiretapping even potentially a scandal? Cause you can't wiretap without a warrant, that would be illegal. But there was a warrant. So this wiretapping was legal.

In order for there to be a scandal here, the FBI would have to wiretap someone else (like Trump) for whom they did not have a warrant. If something like that happened, yeah, that's illegal and would be a scandal.

This surprises you?

We laugh at people burning MAGA hats because they're upset Trump isn't being evil enough

I just literally never took Spicer seriously, I don't mind "normalizing" someone who's existence is just as a mouthpiece. Spicer's just an entirely insignificant being to the "Trump administration", he never steered anything on the policies, he's basically a messenger. Meanwhile his presence to me, in context with Colbert's whole intro blasting Trump, Spicer's appearance if anything would get under Trump's skin more.

If this were Bannon or someone that actually meant something I could understand, but Spicer's nothing.

The mouthpiece is important though. He was basically tasked with a national gaslighting campaign and went along with it.
