She wants commitment. A ring is the standard symbol that, but a ring itself is unnecessary for a proposal.

A guy without commitment can leave on a whim. Is he waiting for something better to come along or? Is he still unsure about spending the rest of his life with his woman?

A married guy can't leave on a whim (without repercussions). A ring is a decent enough "buy in" but fielded by an unnecessary middleman.

I'm engaged with no ring. Talk (of marriage) is cheap but sufficient, hooray for a spouse who doesn't want a ring because they're afraid they'd lose it.

kinda.

In the absence of big government either subsidizing cleaner (and more expensive) energy and food production or regulating/penalizing cheaper energy/food production that has more environmental impact, the only way for sustainable energy/food to be a thing is being directly supported by environmentally-conscious consumers that are capable of paying the higher premiums.

Alternatively, one could argue that "big government" is also propping up less-than-eco-friendly industries so the leaner government approach would be to simply stop said propping.

Indifferent, for the most part.

I'm not a completionist who needs to 100% everything, and if I'm capable of beating the game without said missable then it's really whatever. Neither adds to replay nor is it unfair. Zodiac spear specifically is more RNG manipulation than a legit missable imo. A legit missable is something like Mog and/or Golden hairpin in FF6 world of balance.

Compare this to, say, a Sierra adventure game like Police Quest. Sure, I'll go into court and testify about a dude I arrested. Wait, what? Evidence or gtfo? What do you mean it's game over because I didn't open the glove box of my cop car about 4 hours of gameplay ago?

I can't figure out from a stat point of view which weapon/shield arrangement works better -
- 2x1h handed
- 1x 2 handed
- 1x1h+ shield

If you go all in on one ability for most of your fighting needs, the chest does the heavy lifting so gem-wise it rarely matters if you have 6 gems in one hand or 6 gems in 2 hands.

It mostly boils down to which abilities you're planning to use, lol. Like the movement skill "shield charge" obviously needs a shield equipped in the first place, while some others call for daggers or maces or swords to be specially equipped in your main hand. And then there's "double strike" which is only usable while DWing and I'm pretty sure there's a 2H-only ability (Sunder and/or Earthquake?)

Some skills are something like "attack with your main hand" which is where the major tradeoffs are:
- dual wield has your offhand weapon being a glorified stat stick offering things like damage up or crit chance up or something
- shield in the offhand boosts your defense in both raw armor/evasion/energy but also defensive passives like resistances up or increased life or something
- 2H weapon precludes the passive boosts for more raw damage and often slower attack speed

Some skills are to just merely "attack", where you attack with both weapons simultaneously in intervals relative to their individual attack speed which can go either way between DW or 2H.

And, yeah, there are indeed passives for both general perks "increased damage and armor while equipped with a shield" and weapon-specific like "increased damage from maces"

if an item has 3 sockets linkedtogether like this:

A-B-C

Would socket A be linked to socket C, meaning that a support gem in A would affect a skill in C?

Correct.

fyi:
1H weapons and shields cap out at 3 sockets
Helm/gauntlet/boots cap out at 4 sockets
Chests and 2H weapons eventually reach 6 sockets

4 sockets are a thing starting in about chapter 4 (level 35-40ish). 6 sockets are not to be planned around since getting not only 6 sockets but also 6 links involves about a thousand orbs of fusion which'll occur after a lot of grinding in endgame maps.

Which is partially why the general suggestion is to aim for defensives on the skill tree on endgame builds because getting a 6th gem slot will skyrocket your dps by >20% which is the rough equivalent of like 10+ skill points at that point.

And, yeah, there are indeed a LOT of build options. Be mindful of checking out the forums for build options, as many builds are reliant on having a 6-Linked chest and at least one piece of unique equipment that is the basis for the build in the first place.

But in general you'll want to go hardcore into one or maybe two abilities as the game progresses; something with decent AoE for clearing out mooks and then maybe something with a strong single damage component for boss types. Or, your AoE skill will also be sufficient single target damage. Almost any ability is viable through 98% of the game, but it needs to be well built in terms of skilltree and stuff.

Then it'll be a bunch of support skills -- a totem and/or curse, a golem, a movement skill, and then 1-3 auras and each of those getting various support gems.

Like, my Ancestral Warchief totem also has a maim support gem. In addition to buffing me and acting as an immobile turret, anything it attacks also gets a debuff that lets me hit it more. Or my movement ability also has Fortify support, so while I'm zipping around I also get a bonus to my defenses for a short while.

~

Other misc tips

- Pick up all the scrolls of wisdom and portal scrolls. Selling an ID'd rare is worth much more than an un-ID'd one. Portal scrolls can be sold for wisdoms. I tend to vendor almost all gold-quality drops.

- When using scrolls of wisdom (or other items like armorer scraps), if you hold down shift you can repeatedly use the item instead of continually going back to the stack for a single use.

- Pick up any skill gem that has the word "superior" attached to it, even if you never plan to use it. They can be sold as a cluster to any vendor for a gemcutter prism which can either increase the quality of a gem you do use directly, or can be used to grant them +20% quality if the skillgem is at max level.

- There are 3 different kinds of Two Stone rings. Ones with fire-lit resist, lit-ice, and fire-ice. If you sell one of each of these to the vendor, you get a resist-all ring in exchange.

~

Edit - Supports can also double-dip. Like if I have a 4-Linked chest with the following:

A - Bow skill that fires projectiles
B - Projectile support - damage down but more projectiles
C - Support gem - Increased critical strike chance and crit damage
D - Spell that fires projectiles

Both A and D are supported by B and C. This is usually suboptimal but there are plenty of scenarios where it's worthwhile as well.

evolution or natural selection? is there a difference?

Yup. Natural selection is one half of evolution, which says that the environmental conditions will cull some and benefit others. This can be inner-species variance such as height differences which cause shorter organisms as more likely to thrive over time, for example. Or conditions that will favor one species completely over the other.

The other half of evolution is random variance, which is the result of reproduction in general, but sexual reproduction moreso due to chromosomes mixing and matching and, yes, sometimes just outright having more or less chromosomes as a result.

Waaaay more often than not, random mutations are a bad thing but those are dead ends (both literally and figuratively) while the one random mutation that's highly beneficial is sure to have offspring which also inherit the mutation until it's the new baseline. It's easy to see in retrospect and almost appears to be a straight line, but in reality every single evolutionary node is a 3D explosion but almost none of those mutations were desirable.

gravy posted...
I don't think we're able, as a species, to wholly prove or disprove the issue.

We are. The trick is to use something with a very quick lifecycle (like bacteria) and observe change over 60,000+ generations.

- whenever the game prompts you to save, do it on a 2nd file. Game-prompted saves denote a series of battles and there is no "escape" option so if you're SOL you may need to restart the game instead of just grind a bit on a previous save
- Squires, Knights, and Archers suck, for the most part. Just get enough JP in those classes to unlock other ones. Ramza Squire is his unique class and he gets a better skillset/stats/equipments as the game progresses, notably at the start of chapters 2 and 4.
- Class-based stat growth is almost non existent. Leveling up 1-20 as a wizard and then being a knight will result in almost the same stats as a 1-20 knight also being a knight. There are class-based multipliers (ie, a wizard has way more magic attack and MP, and a knight has more HP and physical attack)
- Males are better fighters, having about +2 more physical attack than females which instead get higher magic attack
- Inner-party zodiac compatibility is huge for anyone who uses the defensive Punch Arts, white magic, or any other buffings. Access your starter squad and remove anyone who has bad or worst compat, at the very least. I tend to avoid using specials altogether (but I'm a vet), instead opting for Ramza + 2 male generics + 2 female generics all of whom have neutral/good/best compat with each other.
- Enemy zodiac is also thing in this game so it sometimes pays to scope out what everyone's sign is before running at them and then realizing you can't kill them, or they'll immediately kill you, or something.
- Calculators/Arithmeticians are OP as balls and I strongly suggest just avoiding that class completely because they're that good and the game is more fun without them.

Evolution is a combination of random mutations/gene expressions coupled with natural selection as dictated by the environment, which affects the fitness of both themselves and their offspring.

Of course! It's very easy dating someone that's patient, thoughtful, caring, supportive, intelligent, self sufficient, sexually attractive, and personable.

Nah. Started with 1, although I'm far more fond of 4-6 than 7-9 and there's no doubt nostalgia is a factor to that.

Maybe not nostalgia, but there are some commonalities so first exposure matters more than something that's old hat. Like, I'm sure Aeris dying in FF7 was heart wrenching but as a FF4 vet it still paled in comparison to Palom and Porom's sacrifice.

I trim them about every 3 weeks or so; they get a few passes from my guarded beard trimmer. I'm blessed to not warrant tweezers; no excess hairs on the X axis.

idk

I say "Happy holidays" because it's much simpler than saying "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"

lol

The conspiracy is "the moon landing is fake" not "was the moon landing fake?"

So that's bollocks.

nah.

Broadcasting isn't my thing and I'm pretty sure whomever I've seen pics/vids to hasn't uploaded and shared.

My pic got 7k views and 400ish likes. My wife in face down ass up position wearing only a little thong got 39.1k views and nearly 3k likes.

I guess the first pic had a little bit too much of my dick and not enough of her ass.

Pretty much. Females get a lot more positive attention but such is the nature of (most) dudes. I mean, going to any gender-neutral subreddit that allows lewds/nudes and the upvotes are heavily in favor of female pics.

The only sitcom where the cast is so unintentionally unlikeable.

imo most of Friends and all of Seinfeld are high grade sociopaths.

Always Sunny is as well, but they're intentionally terrible peoeple.

Yeah. It's usually in a positive manner -- if they consume the same media or genre that I do, I tend to like 'em.

If they don't -- it's usually more neutral. I don't dislike someone for watching a given show, unless that's all they do or talk about. So I'm not judging them on their taste, I'm judging because they're an insufferable fan.

The few shows that I'll actively dislike someone for: multiple, simultaneous prime time "reality / eliminate a contestant" shows and/or binging Fox News (any 24/7 'news' channel, really).
