I'm not here to win or lose some internet discussion. Most people said I was dead wrong in my lootbox topic. I simply stated my opinion regarding loot boxes.

A key factor in deciding if that line has been crossed is whether in-game items acquired via a game of chance can be considered money or moneys worth. In practical terms this means that where in-game items obtained via loot boxes are confined for use within the game and cannot be cashed out it is unlikely to be caught as a licensable gambling activity. In those cases our legal powers would not allow us to step in.

http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/news-action-and-statistics/news/2017/Loot-boxes-within-video-games.aspx

There's more information in the link.

I told you lootboxes are not gambling.

Shitty microtransaction and anti-consumer lootbox implementation really needs to stop. Games such as Battlefront 2 and Destiny 2.

Like I said in my other topic, Overwatch handles lootboxes extremely well and fair. You can earn lootboxes without paying a cent. It's optional and the game never encourages the player to buy them. This method allows Blizzard to continually update Overwatch with free maps, modes, heroes, and patches for everyone.

I wiped off the battery acid around one of the battery posts.

I haven't jump started it but do you guys think I'll need a new battery?

I don't consider it gambling, but people have different opinions. I see many people calling it gambling and using the excuse 'think of the children' to get rid of lootboxes. That's a silly argument because there are many parental controls people can use on their PCs and consoles. Plus they can password protect anyone from purchasing content in games. People shouldn't use children as an excuse. Parents shouldn't use children as an excuse for poor parenting.

Lootboxes are no different than trading cards, mystery toy boxes, crane machines, etc. I guess all of that should be banned as well?

People are saying games with lootboxes should be rated as Adults Only, but guess what? No retail stores carry AO games and console manufacturers don't license AO games.

If anything, games should keep their standard ESRB rating but should have a description along with them saying 'contains microtransactions.' Publishers could be required to show the odds of winning too on their site or whatever.

In addition, people buying pre-paid currency cards/gift cards for Xbox Store, PS Store, Eshop, Steam, etc. should be carded (18+). An adult should accompany children buying those pre-paid cards/gift cards.

I feel like a lot of people are attacking Overwatch with this lootbox controversy. Overwatch is one of the few that does lootboxes right. You can easily get lootboxes without paying a cent. Everything you obtain from lootboxes is completely cosmetic. Obtaining cosmetics through lootboxes makes each item more unique and special because you get them at random. If you have a duplicate, you'll get some gold coins instead. If you have enough gold coins, you can exchange them for any item you want (if you have enough coins).

See? It's all cosmetics in Overwatch and it makes getting them fun because you don't know what you'll get. If you could directly buy what you wanted, it wouldn't make the cosmetics special and I personally wouldn't be too interested in them. Just for the record, I have only purchases $2 worth of lootboxes in Overwatch. I wouldn't mind spending more to be honest, but money is tight.

Last but not least, the main reason lootboxes work well in Overwatch is that it funds regular updates and new content such as maps, heroes, and new game modes. Other games sell expensive map packs that separate the user base and makes it smaller. Did you know Overwatch gets updated every few weeks? Sometimes it's a minor patch, and sometimes it's a big patch. They always try to balance the game and add something new. This wouldn't happen if they sold everything in packs. And again, best of all, lootboxes can be obtained free in Overwatch and everything is cosmetics that gives no one unfair advantages.

I'm fully aware there are many games that shit microtransaction and lootbox practices. Those are the companies that should be targeted for their shitty anti-consumer practices. Oh, and I know there are people who are addicted to gambling and that's unfortunate. But it is impossible to supervise every single person out there.

I watched a video showing how to replace the HDD and it looks a little complicated. I don't have the tools and I doubt I want to bother going through all of the little steps to replace the HDD.

I still haven't looked into my iMac yet. Maybe this week.

I shut down the iMac and turned it back on just to see what happened. After turning it on, the screen went black and nothing happened. I didn't press any keys to boot to recovery or anything yet.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

My iMac has a Fusion Drive or whatever it's called. Not sure if those are easily replaceable. Even if they are, it'll probably cost a ton of money for it and to get it repaired in a shop. I think the motherboard of an old MacBook Pro I had no longer worked and the shop told me it would cost like $1000 for the repair and part. That's almost as much as I had paid the damn notebook. xD

I haven't watched it yet. I usually wait for movies to come out on DVD.

But I don't care about reviews if they're negative. I mean, I'll be aware of it, but it won't stop me from watching a movie. If I hear positive feedback about a movie, it'll increase the chances of me watching it. I don't read actual reviews so it's usually feedback that I look at. Even then it doesn't mean I'll watch every movie that has positive feedback or that I'll agree with it. If it interests me, sure, I'll watch it.

So for the past 2 years almost, I've used Windows 10 exclusively because I do a lot of gaming on my computer now. I bought my high end iMac in late 2013. It was before I switched to PC gaming. Yes, I could have spent the money I used on the iMac to build a great gaming PC, but again, I wasn't too interested in it at the time and I didn't like Windows as much back then.

Anyways, I haven't used my iMac in weeks, but I have it in sleep mode. It'll update itself and all that.

Well, I just noticed a black screen with a circle and a line across it (). I don't know know what it's called. I hope my iMac is not bricked. It may have updated to the newest OSX by itself. But I doubt it considering I set my iMac to boot to Windows everytime I turn it on. Maybe it updated Windows by itself too, which I don't mind at all.

I'm looking into this right now and I really hope it is not bricked. I'm broke right now and can't afford a new PC. It would probably take me months with a part time job to buy a new one.

If it is bricked, I won't buy an iMac anymore. I'll just build my own PC or buy a high end gaming PC. I don't think I'd feel comfortable building my own PC to be honest. The reason why I won't buy an iMac anymore is because I switched to PC gaming, Apple products are ridiculously expensive, and I no longer dislike Windows. I only disliked Windows for a few years and had gotten bored of it.

Any advice? Do you think my iMac is bricked?

tl;dr: My iMac appears to be bricked.

I don't like how Overwatch gets blamed for loot boxes. The way Blizzard does it in Overwatch is great because you earn loot boxes by playing the game and all the contents from loot boxes are cosmetic only. They do not alter the gameplay at all.

I've been playing Overwatch for about 5 months now and only spent $2 on loot boxes as a way to support Blizzard for updating the game frequently and adding content to the game for free.

I'm actually going to sell it at retail price. I have no interest in selling it for more money. In fact, I doubt I can get a decent amount extra and I wouldn't feel right about doing that anyways.

But yeah, I'll probably try that and using the money from it to buy him Minecraft for 3DS or Switch. He might get a Switch for Christmas. If so, I'll get him Minecraft or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (just remembered, he likes going to my niece's to play their Wii U; MK8 iirc). I haven't watched Ch. 1 so no spoilers please.

I heard great things about John Wick and it was on my list of movies to watch. I saw it was gonna be on HBO so I DVR'd it.

Today I watched Ch. 2. I didn't know much about this movie. I found a few things about the story a little confusing but the story was pretty straightforward. I'm guessing a few things were explained in Ch. 1 and expanded in this movie?

Anyways, this movie is action packed! Not the typical mindless crappy action that has taken over Hollywood. Ch. 2's action scenes are pure quality action. It's extremely well done. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I love how the action scenes show everything in the frame and it all flows perfectly.

Something I hate about modern action movies is how almost every scene has that terrible shaky cam, quick cuts, zoomed in shots, and how none of the action makes any sense. I have no idea why the majority of Hollywood film makers use this style and why casual movie goers like it too. I'm not a movie buff or whatever you call them, but I hate action movies like that. I actually dislike s lot of movies lol.

I remember making a topic not too long ago complaining about action scenes in today's movies and how I despised that style. I think a few people suggested John Wick having great action scenes and now I see why.

John Wick 2's action scenes are some of the best I've seen. I was literally smiling at how awesome they were. More filmmakers can learn from it. That's how you do kick ass awesome action movies!

I'm definitely going to watch John Wick Ch. 1 when I get the chance. Feel free to recommend action movies that are very well done. I saw a clip of Atomic Blonde a while ago and I'm going to watch it one of these days. How was it? I'm also going to watch Mad Max Fury Road again because I fell in love with that movie when I first saw it in January.

p.s. I have a habit of making my posts long.
tl;Dr version: I really liked John Wick Ch. 2.
