the uber and the travel credit (to buy giftcards) are the only thing really going for it for me. and for the first year, the global entry fee credit. thatll bring the af down to what, 50 bucks? thats good. but after that first year im not sure if i can get a lot of value out of it.

You already have the CSP and have a gold amex. Screw both and get an Amex Platinum. it's been revamped really good and it is now fancy and made of metal, it's basically a Centurion-lite!

yeah. i got an email inviting me to do it, but only for a measly 60k points. i kinda wanna hold out for a 100k offer, but those are pretty rare.

ive gotten 75k to pull up sometimes on the amex site, so i may just go with that.

my Chase Sapphire Reserve is $450 a year, my SPG Amex is $95, my Chase Ink Preferred is $95, my Chase Sapphire Preferred is $95 a year, and my Premium Rewards Gold Amex is $195. but the only ones ive paid this year is the 450 for the CSR and the 95 for the CIP, since the others all have the annual fee waived the first year. I'm going to cancel the Amex PRG after the first year (and sign up for another lol), and im going to downgrade my CSP to a no annual fee card.

but im not afraid of cards with annual fees, so long as rewards/value>>>>> fee.

like for my sapphire reserve. yes i had to pay 450 dollars but i get
-300 dollar travel credit (which is very broad. bus tickets count).
-3 points per dollar on dining and travel
-guaranteed 1.5x redemption rate for my chase points
-priority pass with unlimited guests (airport lounges, which have free food AND free liquor)
-travel insurance, rental car insurance, etc.

My Chase application got accepted last night! I followed the flowchart and it switched to 7-10 days, so I called the rep line and she was like "yeah let me confirm your identity" so she asked me a few questions and was like "okay great you're approved!"

Credit limit of $7k which is preposterous to me, I can't even imagine spending 25% of that in a given month.

Also a bit concerned that I got the wrong one -- I applied for Freedom Unlimited, which is the one that is 1.5% cash back on everything, but when she told me I was approved, she said "congrats on being approved for your Chase Freedom card!" (without the unlimited part). So I asked and she was like "I honestly don't know, you'd need to call customer service."

So we'll see. Hard to complain either way, both cards seem nice, but if they gave me the wrong one, I might see if I can get it switched. Might do a trial run if they ended up giving me the wrong one with the 5% bonus on quarterly things.

If changing is a huge pain in the arse, I might just stick with it anyways (depending on the quarterly bonuses - if it's something that I would absolutely never do, then I might make a fuss about it (especially since it was their mistake)).

lol yeah i remember my first card was the chase amazon with a 400 limit. then last year when i applied for a credit card with my credit union, i got a 15,000 dollar limit lol. i was shocked. then amex gave me 13,000! its crazy. but the more limit you have, the lower your utilization will be percentage wise so its always good to have high limits.

and dont worry, even if you got the wrong one, you can just send them a message or call them to change it. its called a product change. they might say you can't do it, but you can. a lot of employees dont know the rules so you have to keep asking. i would just send a secure message on their site.
