| _BlueMonk 10/12/17 2:55:39 PM #3 | Giant_Aspirin posted... what does constantly opening new lines of credit do to your credit score? serious question its slightly negative short term, but really good long term. short term, adding a young, new account and a hard pull on your credit will cause your score to go down. however, as long as it stays positive (no missed payments, charge offs, etc.) the more accounts you have, the better. and having more accounts prevents future accounts from harming your score. in 5 years ill have 10 credit accounts with an average age at about 4-5 years. getting a new card won't hurt that as much as it would if i only had 1-2 accounts (they average their ages) for the record, i've been hitting new credit card accounts hard this year and my fico score is only 693. that's thats not to bad. --- One in a Million, TWICE!
