I think Marvel/Disney could pull off a more streamlined and enjoyable take on the X-Men. Which seems inevitable at this point.

Nah. While I don't care for swearing and bloody violence, it was nice to see Wolverine actually use his claws in Logan when they gave it an r rating (similar to the director's cut of the wolverine). Same for little girl wolverine. While r ratings are not necessary to tell a story, it's nice to know that any fictional story is not constrained to try and fit a movie rating at the box office. Similarly, no use in being gratuitous with violence and swearing etc just because you have the rx rating or whatever. It's all about what the story needs without having any impositions.

The one that actually follows the manga feels like fanfiction? O_o

Something I've never quite understood is the mentality that something is automatically good if it follows the source material, even if the source material itself might be pure garbage. It's an utterly ridiculous and bizarre internet-only notion I've noticed. Note, not that I'm calling arakawa's work bad, but just as an example for such an illogical standpoint. A quality of work is good because it's good, irrespective of anything else.

the original had better intors and endings, especially the first fucking ending which is GOAT level.

brotherhood has better characters, like Lee and doesnt recycle fights like Glutony and Lust a billion times.

first anime has cool shit like I AM THE FUCKING PHILO STONE.

Second anime has Lee.

ya know, brotherhood having Lee makes everyhting moot, brotherhood takes it.

I actually liked the introduction of the new characters like ling and the concept of alchestry, I thought the story was going to change and offer a whole new dynamic. But they don't really do anything with these new elements. They're just these foreigners, these "easterners" who join in the story. We don't get a real sense of scope, especially since we always hear about amestris wanting to expand and is fighting with all other nations.

And I find mei annoying because of the giant ball of cliche that she, scar and the other doofus make up.

Gawd... rewatching and it really is the greatest anime of all time. I'm tearing up at times, laughing at other times (actual well placed moments of comedy to break up the tension instead of brohood's highly misplaced comedic elements) and sighing in relief or gripping the edge of my chair. Just the opening alone sets the tone for the entire series and I absolutely love it, Al's opening narration. It's 10/10.

And I feel that with most purists, they're just vinegary that the anime handled the concept of the homunculi way better than Arakawa did, especially thematically. The homunculus representing humanity's hubris was a great theme for the show to demonstrate the abuse and over reliance on alchemy, being failed transmutations of humans.

How about minigames with a mandatory jrpg lol FF 8 lol.

Anyway yeah they're always bad, and are more of a ps1 rpg problem, they're the real offenders. By ps2 that was phased out for the most part.

Don't get me wrong I hate the original's ending, that I won't argue, as it completely negates the entire experience and journey we just witnessed. And I similarly dislike the movie that came after, although I was into the concept of alternate worlds and it being our world. Pretty cool concept, but execution left something to be desired.

Not that Brotherhood's overly cloying ending is better, they're both the extremes that are not ideal and an ending somewhere in the middle would be better.

Not only is Logan not an X-Men movie, it's not even a comic book movie. It's a dystopian semi post-apocalyptic like setting (not unlike The Road, which Logan heavily reminds me of) that just happens to have people with supernatural powers.

And I enjoyed it as its own thing, without paying attention to how it fits in with the others because the awful you-know-which movie made me finally realize they don't really give a crap about continuity or even have a well thought out plan for the series.

But without any heart to the series, it loses a big part of what makes fma so great. The original is a story about the 2 brothers and their journey to reclaim what they've lost, that was the heart of the show.

Brotherhood doesn't have that. It doesn't even have interesting villains, which usually make or break a show.

That's not to say those fight scenes or boss battles aren't "cool" because if you're into that more power to you, but interest in said scenes is lost when there's no real motivation to care for the characters. The villains are neither compelling, nor entertaining to watch. So the heroes' triumph over them seems hollow and not really earned on a cathartic level.

Emo as in like when someone is emo. A friend was arguing that it's actually pronounced emo, but I thought that was strange because I've always pronounced it as emo, like electronic, since there's no basis for the ee sound in front of a word (that's not hyphenated like say e-mail)

So even 20-30 years later, the dude is still going through depression and still working? That's impressive. I don't know what Japanese culture is like but I wonder if he seeks ongoing professional help and like, takes time off to relax. I hear they have a very strict culture and high work ethic which can be very draining on a person, I would think.

Whatever because this game is gonna sell alot because of desperate 20-30 years old like me and probably the rest of us wanting closure

Closure? They already beat all the villains in kh 2 and got back home and reunited and lived happily ever after. It's only the recent shitty retcons that make it so oh no the villains are actually alive because when you kill them they become more alive or some shit like that

So the closure is there if you ignore the retcons and just kh 2 which has them live happily ever after on destiny islands.

I just felt like the train for my interest in the series as a whole left a while back and I don't know if it is going to come back again. It has been 11 years since KH2 and I didn't play any of the spin offs at all.

There is also the age factor to consider, for a number of different reasons. I was already pretty old when kh 2 came out and actually disliked that it was basically fanfic self-inserts of my favorite disney movies/storylines with sora and co inserting themselves into said story. That was over a decade ago so I definitely would not be able to tolerate it now.

And yeah it's been so long that any interest died down ages ago.

I know that goes without saying, but the thing is that even though KH 2 was also really cheesy and had excruciatingly cringey cutscenes, a lot of it was tolerable especially as it was only the second console game of the series. Also the gameplay improvements (hell just simply moving camera control to the right analog stick) just made it super fun, even without the drive forms.

I don't know if KH 3 will be as fun gameplay wise, especially if they add literally anything from ddd or the annoying minigames from bbs (which had a bunch of gameplay elements like a cooldown system for magic) or bring back a fan (un)favorite the gummi ship levels.

Not to mention really frustrating especially if you're paying for the internet out of pocket.

Speed is so inconsistent. The actual router is a wireless internet type that uses cell towers so despite being directly connected to it, it's not like it's a fiber line or even dsl line for relative consistency.

I pay $40 a month for what's basically 3mbps when they advertise speeds "up to 50 mbps" and I was thinking I'd get speeds half that at 25 mbps. Hell I'll even settle for a quarter of the advertised speed, rounding down to 10 mbps. But nooo, it's 3 mbps and like a ping of 20 ms on a good day. smbc...

I'm trying to look back at every bit of adaptation of the X-Men, from the cartoons to the movies, and while some I like, and even some I really like (X-2) none of them really strike me as wow, must sees or fantastic.

Maybe the whole humans vs mutants thing needs to be dropped because it feels super played out now? Maybe get more into the mystical stuff or general fantasy/mystical/alien stuff like guardians of the galaxy or dr strange does.
