Yeah I love the whole Norman Bates thing he has going, and he's a unique villain when put up against the scientists, mutates, and CEOs of the rest of the series. Alfred is a true weirdo creep and manages to be quite the thorn in your side throughout the game despite his seeming incompetence. I like a mentally unstable villain who can be scarier than the literal monsters around you.

The Evil Within 2
B+
Starts off with a strong first half but I will admit it drags a little in the 2nd half. Way better story than the first game (as in, you can actually follow what's going on), and the gameplay was much improved too. I think I still liked the first better though, I think it had more charm and was more of a breath of fresh air the survival horror genre needed more than this one.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
A
A wonderful cap to a great series, even if it's the easiest and most like a movie. The characters and the way everything is presented pretty much sets the standard for modern gaming.

Until Dawn
A+
A delicious horror film with slasher and supernatural trappings wrapped in a fun adventure game skin that makes your choices actually matter as you feel nervous about the situations you're in. It's the closest to actually being in a horror film that you can get.

Thumper
A+
Probably the most mechanically satisfying game I've ever had the joy of playing. A pulsing rhythm and non-stop tension makes you grip the controller like a clamp and forces your eyes to stay open and vigilant at all times. Psychedelic backdrops from hell and Lovecraftian entities induce horror, unease and dread into the player at every turn.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
B+
A satisfying return to series roots that takes the best elements from classic RE and retools them to fit in a first-person perspective. It has its weak points but its obviously a terrific step for the series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
A
I liked this campaign a lot more than I did when I first played it back in '09. This time, I recognized the more satirical elements of it and the incredible stakes the campaign holds over your head especially prior to the "aftermath". The remastered touches add well-appreciated flourishes and details to minor things that are noticeable.

Night in the Woods
C+
I liked the story, loved the characters, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. In a way, it does suit what the game is trying to convey, but ultimately it's not really that enjoyable to play. Still, I'm glad I went through it either way.

Outlast 2
A
This is a horror sequel akin to Silent Hill 2, Fatal Frame 2, or Resident Evil 2 in terms of how it improves and advances its root game in incredible ways. It's a grueling horror trip of adrenaline and psychological terror and you personally experience every minute of it, with more involved camcorder mechanics that do wonders for immersion. The story leaves just enough room for mystery and questions to make you think about it for days after.

Little Nightmares
B-
A neat, short little horror-adventure that conveys a cool, creepy, and unique world full of mystery and wonder. It's atmosphere is just enough to carry its simplistic puzzle and platformer mechanics.

Hitman
B+
A wonderful stealth game that adds just enough open world to make gameplay and the world feel emergent without sacrificing focus on concise objectives, as sidequests and main targets become intertwined. Pulling off an elaborate assassination never felt this satisfying.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
B-
A fun but ultimately unnecessary title that feels like an also-ran adventure that would be mentioned in dialogue. It has some cute character moments and a good ending chapter, and if you like Uncharted, it's worth a play for sure.

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
C-
Hey that was a pretty interesting and quirky adventure! Too bad there's no fucking ending and is a complete waste of time.

Nier: Automata
B
Combat is satisfying and the story beautifully existential, but it didn't blow me away as much I was expecting.

If you already like the series, it's a tolerable entry. It's an unfocused mishmash of contemporary trends and ideas mixed with lame attempts at keeping the last remnants horror it has. I think it has good shooting mechanics once you start using all your moves, but many segments are plagued by bad camera issues and tedious QTEs. Across it's 4 campaigns, you'll find the game either hard-pressed to keep its attention on a single idea, atmosphere, or theme, or stretch something out for so long you'll be in tears waiting for it to end. Still, it has some satisfying story elements in that that expand the canon in satisfying ways if you're into that and there's some fun to be had for sure in the pure third-person shooting mechanics.

That was a pretty great twist that surprised me even though I had my suspicions from minor things I had read that something was up. I liked that it was more than "this is actually hell", it really caught me off guard that Michael was the architect of it all and that all the mistakes and machinations of it were planned. God his evil grin and laugh after Eleanor figured out it was so damn creepy!

This is a great show so far and I can't wait to dive into season 2. Wasn't expecting to even like it as much as I did, started off a little too generic sitcom-y with an afterlife twist but it came into its own mighty quick. Kristen Bell and Ted Danson are especially outstanding, but the entire cast is perfect. It almost feels like a lighter version of Lost sometimes with the flashbacks.

Deadly Premonition

I love pretty much every survival horror game from the 5th and 6th generations, some of which are extremely clunky or badly produced but carry enough charm with them to be very enjoyable. I also like Twin Peaks and Lynchian, quirky, weird horror stuff. Yet, Deadly Premonition is just so unbelievably unenjoyable to play with driving segments that are like pulling teeth and third-person shooting that's like playing Resident Evil 4 in quicksand. I just could never get into the story because I dreaded actually having to play the actual game again.

I main Reaper, I think he's good for a new player for kills and also for survivability. You may not find the teleport too useful at first but once you get used to map layouts and obscure routes you'll also be one of the most mobile heroes around.

I get what you're saying, and yeah looking at it now Conjuring should've scored higher in the fear factor, but I still stand by my others which I've supported in my write-ups. To me, it's less about the numbers and more what I have to say about it anyway. I promise I do not factor my overall personal feelings into the rating besides how scary I find it. I will take your feedback into account though as I want to improve the rankings and make a more fair ratings system.
