I think you're just basing this off of Internet and nerd culture and that's because of anime and video games. In real life I've seen plenty of enthusiasts of cultures from all over the world and Japanese enthusiasts are treated the same as any other enthusiasts (weeb is a hardcore Internet term and I haven't seen a single person who isn't extremely socially maladjusted use it irl)

Right, and I think thats a perfectly normal response. I feel (or did feel) the same, but the more I contemplate it, the more I keep coming back to one unarguable fact: a doll that looks like a child, a man, a woman, an animal or anything else is still an artificial object that is not actually the thing that it looks like. I mean we (gamers at least) get angry at critics of video games who cant seem to tell the difference between a game character and a real life child or a real life adult, yet here we are with dolls, just assuming that an inanimate object should be viewed with disgust or outrage. It seems we might not be able to distinguish what is fantasy from reality, as well.

Interesting observation actually.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same people feeling revolted at the mere idea of child sex dolls turn around and complain about censorship in video games. If the "it's not a real woman" argument holds, then so should "it's not a real girl". They should at least be consistent with their ability (or inability) to separate reality from fiction.

Another funny observation is that most of them are for physical child abuse or "discipline"

There's a small, inconspicious building called "Padraic Willoughsby and Co." in the industrial district of Birmingham, UK.

Most of the time, its doors are locked and the windows are draped. When you knock on it, a voice will ask "What makes a man become exalted?" and you must respond with the phrase on the back of the card: "The blood of the innocent."

The door will open and you will come into another room, a kind of lounge. Inside it you will find around 5-10 people, depending on the night, sitting around smoking and drinking brandy, all in late Edwardian period dress. There is absolutely no conversation at all in this room and, it is nearly silent except for the phonograph which plays the exact same record over and over, ad infinitum. If you attempt to speak to one of the patrons, they will promptly ignore you and pretend as if you were not there.

Towards the south wing of the room you will find a large, round table, slightly different from the others. On it will be a quill pen and a document. The document shows all of your personal information: name, birthdate, place of residence, criminal record, greatest fears, etc. At the bottom of the document is a long line that asks for your signature. No one knows what happens after you sign it.

No one cares if they changed up the minor henchmen of olaf (which I'm sure they did, they probably got rid of a bunch altogether)

I know you will claim I am making abritery cutoffs that are convenient for me. but it is based in science. sperm cells and human eggs are not a human being until they merge together. a sperm cell is not going to turn into a human, not till it meets an egg. the whole reason I want to protect fetuses is because they will grow into humans. I see anything that will grow into a human as already a human. sperm cells and eggs do not fit that. also, millions of sperm cells die every day that go unused. even if you don't do anything, they don't just sit inside you forever, they expire and get replaced by new ones. that's why people who say things like "back then I was still in my dad's sack" are wrong.

Embryos aren't human beings until they go through the whole gestation process and be born either. All sperms and eggs have the "potential" to become human too. It really is just an arbitrary cut off.
By the way your Spider-Man scenario was just that because MJ wasn't even pregnant.

I've never read the series or watched the show, but he's a grown ass man who can't outwit a few plucky orphans that he is literally related to despite being old enough to, you know, hire a lawyer. How savvy could he be?

Olaf in the books was a cruel, cold, and calculating bastard who never broke character for an instant.

Again, how calculating if he is constantly outwitted by someone literally in diapers.

I really wouldn't consider it "outwitted" when the three main characters are only barely escaping by the skin of their teeth each and every time. Every guardian they had wound up dead by his hand; they once had to resort to burning down half a hospital to escape him.

Again, though, he is evenly matched by children, then.

tbf those children are prodigies. Violet builds a hot air balloon out of paper, Klaus reads dictionaries or something, and the baby makes gourmet food and holds her own in a fucking swordfight with a grown adult with her teeth.

So suspension of disbelief is in effect that these orphans are all literal geniuses, but when an antagonist facing off against children over the course of a series is inept, it breaks immersion?
