because iirc, he's supposed to be one of the eighth smartest people in Marvel, but I don't think that he was smarter than Tony

If a white child genius was introduced as smarter than the canon smartest character, I'd still be annoyed. It has nothing to do with being white or black or male or female, it's that you don't debut at the top. And it's pretty evident that she's being toted as the smartest simply because she's a minority character.

They should've introduced her, let her develop her own following, and casually allowed her to surpass Tony Stark in a manner which felt organic. Instead, they threw a 15 year old girl into a metal suit, called her Iron Man, and proclaimed her smarter than the original. That's not a good way to make friends.

I wouldn't want to meet the 17 year old who could outfight Batman.

I guess it's slightly more justified in a film universe because you don't have as much time for the audience to get to know movie characters as you would with a comic character who's gonna be there month after month.

I said I wouldn't want to meet the teenager who could outfight Batman, but I wouldn't exactly get upset if a James Bond movie had a Japanese teenager who knew gadgetry better than he did.

out of the smart characters in the MCU, who isn't though?
IM2 - whiplash and hammer were both around tony's intelligence with whiplash perhaps even moreso
IM3 - killian was smarter
Ant-Man - pym can do things that tony can't
Spider-Man - peter had built some stuff that tony hadn't
GotG - rocket is obviously not human and in another galaxy, but he seems to be on par
etc.

Having Tony admit that she's more advanced than he was at her age would've been fair. As for her being more or less intelligent, that's not so much the issue as them coming out and saying it. When you're going up against time tested characters, you earn every scrap you get.

We've got a boxer named Muhammad Ali. He's a four time world champion, the only person who can claim that. Now we've got an amateur boxer who's just made their debut and we're already making the claim that they're faster and stronger than Ali. Do you see the problem with that?

You're setting someone up for failure when you're telling people right at the starting gate that they're objectively better than their predecessor. If there were any truth to that, it'd be the audience saying it. Let people meet Riri first. Let them admire her own accomplishments. And when it comes time to state that she is matter of fact more intelligent than Tony Stark, make it a claim that people will accept because they've seen how her work compares to his.

no, but its getting at that this character not being liked my the Marvel Universe or something? making it sound like the character made herself that smart, and that would lead to her not being accepted. it was not the actress or the character's choice to be written how it was. and if you're talking about the writers (who are writing FOR the marvel universe), who do they need to "make friends with"? this is part of the universe, and it happens that this smartest person is a young black woman. Which is a problem, apparently. But it wasn't a problem when the rich white man became the smartest character. He had no problem making friends.
