While it's certainly a fascinating scenario for anyone wishing to write historical fiction you'd be stretching her dates for the 1st crusade (let alone the 3rd, which is when the Robin Hood myths are set).

Might also be noted that whilst Moor was a term that was used for North African peoples at that time, she's sub-saharan (that's the really unusual part).

It's pretty interesting certainly, an unusual find in rural England for the time period.

Wouldn't personally read too much into it, Wessex was one of the more powerful kingdoms on the island at the time. Isn't too hard to imagine a traveller or trader visiting. Her being a slave isn't necessarily impossible (the Vikings certainly traded slaves and did journey down the African coast, but their Irish operation was so much closer) but it was more common at the time for Saxons to enslave locally, sometimes for sale abroad (maybe she was here to buy?)

I note the story is from 2013, so probably no one has learned any details of her life. One of those little mysteries.

Overall my assessment of Obama would be centrist (for the US) technocrat.

It's slightly more complicated than that.

The tax in question only applied to luxury baked goods, which didn't include cakes or biscuits, unless the biscuits were chocolate coated.

Hence the need to establish the Jaffa as legally a cake.

Get past the headline and it's a lawsuit about a company (successfully) avoiding tax.

I actually work in the wine industry and so I've blinded with somms from Intro level to Certified to Advanced.

In these blinds, I've pulled very specific wines and vintages for them to taste and it's actually wild what Advanced level (not even Master) will get right. At that level they will nail the grape, vintage and often the literal region (sometimes even the vineyard).

You have to understand that people that go beyond Certified are near psycho and have made wine their entire life. These people have tasted most wine that exists, have stupid genetics for smell and taste and insane recall.

Personally, I'm Intro and decided not to keep going down the path, but even I'm at about 60-70% accurate on varietal and country.

Almost need to be in the industry to get to master.

Old friend of mine did a few of the levels, but said he'd never get that far. Partly because he could never afford the wines you need to have tasted to reach that level.
