I mean, they're basically an Atlantic Hawaii. Difference being, Puerto Rico actually used to be a big coffee exporter until a hurricane came through in the late 1800s or so and knocked all the trees down. Coffee doesn't grow on trees, but the plants require the shade of them so that pretty well killed the industry since trees by and large aren't fast growers.

Let's stop pretending this war or any other war has a moral high ground. The overall point of war is you kill as many of the other side as possible until the other side either stops existing or surrenders. War only determines who is left. Not who was right.

It's the detection of adblockers that may be illegal under EU privacy laws, unless informed consent has been given.

The industry is aware of this and trying to find ways around it.
That was also noted. Someone else tried saying that blocking adblockers at all is illegal because of laws in the US, EU, UK, and Australia that say you have the right to determine what information you view.

Like I said, take it with salt. The US one in particular looked more about not seeing porn if you didn't want to, but I only glanced over it all.

Funny enough I was just reading a reddit thread pointing out that even the FBI recommends using Adblockers.

Highlights included:
  • YouTube's ads are typically for scams or outright Malware
  • Google does not regulate its ads in any way, shape or form, which the above makes fairly obvious
  • Blocking the use of Adblockers could conceivably be against the law, particularly in the EU (I'm taking that with salt personally, everyone online thinks they're a lawyer)
  • Googles ads in general, on their own own search engine, are being overtaken with "sponsored links" to phishing and other scam/malware sites.

Beyond that, it's really just a basic "FOMO" or "Fear Of Missing Out" marketing campaign. And the way I figure it, they time this so everyone who bought it before forgets they didn't like it, sort of like how I don't like eating Butterfingers because the end effect is like cement on my teeth, but after a while I'll be in line to check out and go "oh hey, Butterfingers, those are good" because I've forgotten the immense displeasure I get from eating them even though the taste isn't terrible.
