Wish they'd just leave it on the menu but oh well.

I can't help but think the McRib is actually awful to mediocre, but McDonalds just keeps bringing it back like people want it to make people actually want it and increase sales. Like, the McRib isn't the goal here, it's the advertising from the internet going "It's back!"

I know it's nothing special but do like it for some reason. Not enough to buy it more than a couple times per Fall though.

Exactly. They're just piggy bagging on the marketing fad that should have died out years ago. Now they're just artificially trying to create demand by giving out the illusion that they couldn't supply due to shortages. No, it wasn't because the cost of imports was higher for Mcdonalds from their suppliers; because it wasn't. They could have sold Mcribs anytime throughout the year.

I thought they said last year they were retiring the McRib permanently. I knew it was just some publicity stunt. A really bad one.

It's not the first time they've done that stunt either.

There are not enough humans born into the world to justify the continuous recycle of the McRib. Everyone tries it once hates it and never eats it again. Who is buying it the fucking aliens

I mean, that goes in with what I was saying. No one actually wants the McRib back, but they tell everyone that they wanted the McRib back and therefore it's back. And for some reason it keeps working.

Beyond that, it's really just a basic "FOMO" or "Fear Of Missing Out" marketing campaign. And the way I figure it, they time this so everyone who bought it before forgets they didn't like it, sort of like how I don't like eating Butterfingers because the end effect is like cement on my teeth, but after a while I'll be in line to check out and go "oh hey, Butterfingers, those are good" because I've forgotten the immense displeasure I get from eating them even though the taste isn't terrible.

That's part of it. One reason I made this topic was watching a brief history of the McRib on YouTube and checking to see if it was back. Apparently this time of year, pork prices are at their lows. Which is when it usually comes back. Once prices start to go back up, they take it off the menu.

Yeah, but like @TodorokiHayato said, there's no way McDonalds is paying that much more than anyone else. Which really makes it feel like an ultra cheap cash in.

I mean, I have to admit, it's clever marketing on part of the McDonalds Corporation that they keep doing this successfully.

Im curious of it, it has never been in Swedish McDonalds.

Pretty sure I had it on its second relaunch in the 80s
Even as a kid I felt it tasted like spam and too sugary ketchup with just enough chemicals to pretend it was BBQ sauce.

Plus it was sloppy.
I haven't had one since.

I'm not saying not to try one if you're curious, and get the chance. But with your pallet I can tell you, you aren't missing much.

McRib and a Shamrock Shake are the most disgusting McDonald's items I've ever had. Shamrock shakes seem to be made of toothpaste and pencil shavings. McRibs are like vending machine sandwiches
