There are some isekai where the past life matters a lot (like Ascendance of a Bookworm or something similar). Then there are others where it's just a lazy way to info-dump the setting because the character doesn't know anything about the world. The Faraway Paladin is just an especially pointless case of making something an isekai. The guy is raised as from a baby and has to learn about the world just like anyone else anyway. And the people who raise him have out of date information, so when he goes out into the world he has to learn everything the normal way again! Plus he literally never does anything with his knowledge from another world. Nothing would be lost by just making him a regular person from that world.

The reason it has that 0.00001% Isekai is extremely valid.

Having the tag will improve the sales.

I mean for me it's unquestionably the best game of the year and nothing else even kind of comes close really. I would sacrifice every other game releases if it was between them RE4R, just cancel all of them.

All the DoT character want the new 4 piece relic set, so yeah it's a tough sell to try and argue building Relics that are going to be tossed in a week and a half.

In terms of people wanting a 4 piece, it's going to be the most universally applicable DPS set in the game.

Although that's mostly because they've already filled out the DoT type pool.

Yeah there's really no reason to Kafka + QQ, there's no synergy there. You can't always just go by the elemental weakness as the primary decision maker.

QQ either wants to be a Hypercarry or a Main DPS. Kafka typically only wants to be a Main DPS.

I see Starfield brought up and beloved by a lot by deep industry tech folks who are in awe of specific interaction types within the engine and what wierd things it can do. Which, you know, that's their field and they have every right to be excited about that stuff, but it usually has nothing to do with whether the game is good or not.

Like, wow you're really impressed by this combination of a hover jetpack and being able to snipe while this other talent is procking at the same time, to the point where you're saying it makes Starfield the most important release of the past decade......OK......you do you.

The Board 8 topic about Sea of Stars seemed fairly negative to me but maybe the game did better elsewhere.

It was sitting at over a 90 on Opencritic for a while there, but it's dipped to an 89.

It just...really didn't feel like that.

We've got SO2R now too filling the same niche, and there absolutely no way those 2 games compare. Of course that's a quality of life coat of paint on an old game, so it's not like it's going to have the same type of impact.

Forget being nommed, if were talking winner I literally can't see a world where BG3 doesn't win this. The conversation is for what's going to be alongside it.

And to be clear it's not my GotY. I'm going to get back to it but I kind of fell off there just before Act 2.

I'll admit I only got around 6 or 7 hours before letting it slip away but it really just didn't seem to be....super great. Fine maybe?

Chalk this one up to me just not getting it I guess. Maybe it's the opposite if Chained Echoes and it starts off mid but gets really good later on in the game.

Unfortunately the only Alan Wake game I've played is Control, so I have some homework to do first.

Hogwarts sold really well but a loooot of people who got it barely, or in some cases never, played it.

Fighting games definitely have bias against them in these things. A fighting game has yet to be nominated once.

Of course, if any game was going to make the list it's probably SF6, but I would still be surprised.

Dead Space will definitely not be on there. Not an issue of quality, it just won't, I think a lot of people forgot that even came out at all.

I don't see AC6 being on there. Obviously a bigger splash but I don't think it ended up with that kind of reception.

I won't be surprised if either Starfield of XVI end up getting snubbed off the list and it causes a big hugubaloo, but probably not both of them.

RE4, Mario, and BG3 are locks. Spidey and Zelda are probably also locks even though I don't think they should be there personally.

Been going for Quantum pieces and I am in awe of how many 4 line EHR/ERR/Def%/HP% pieces I've been getting for the Guard set.

I mean it's not an exciting set to grind for, but I certainly won't be left wanting for the characters that do want it.

And it's not like the PSP version isn't good also, it's just that if you're GOING to play enhanced version, there's no reason for it NOT to be this one. Especially since the PSP version has some pretty awful character art.

So it's the PS1 version for nostalgia and the new version for quality of life and a huge visual upgrade. I think the only thing you actually wouldn't get with this version of the game is the very terrible but very funny combat barks.

Almost all the P4 characters suck in basically everything outside of the original P4 and the original P4 anime. PQ in general is just unbearable. Nearly every character turned into a parody of themselves.

I would say even their new scenes in Golden aren't good.

Oh, yeah, naw it's Planars. Best to grind are definitely World 6 and 7 for now. World 3 is still valuable but not as valuable with the upcoming world, and worlds 4 and 5 are basically worthless. I don't think the Break Effect Orbs are even worth it for a Break Effect build, it's easy enough to get EHR without the EHR orbs, Vonwacq is good but there's gonna be new one with the same main effect soon, and the Crit Damage Orb is a fucking joke.

Star Ocean 2 is not an easy game.

I mean you can make it easy. Hell if you fuck around with getting certain abilities early you can break it.

But a casual first time player or someone who hasn't played in a long time (me) should probably do normal.
