I skipped almost every sidequest that wasn't a + or a hunt after the timeskip, and I still feel like the plot and pacing cratered after Bahamut. The terrible instagram filter they put over everything didn't help either. The entire last area dragged, especially once they run out of new enemy types and you're pretty much fighting the same things over and over.

It is literally just too much game with MMO padding which needs to stay in FF14. It's actually handled better in FF14 because they're doing even more to flesh out the world. This game needs to be like 30-50% smaller honestly, then it'd be the perfect length.

yeah at this point it's clear a lot of the long-term grind of this game is simply "you need to build a variety of characters" which is actually a huge expense. even before grinding the stats that will be required to full clear the highest floors of MoC with all stars

Yeah March 7th is one of the few Preservation characters that LC even makes sense on

So IF this Herta Nihility cone leak is accurate, we don't have numbers but it has a buff to Break Effect, DoT damage, and energy regen on kill, so this is probably going to be a good F2P option for Kafka. Definitely worth saving for just in case.

The standard passes are fairly worthless because you just don't get them quickly enough to add up. ONE pull every 2 weeks? One 4-star is 20 weeks. No thanks.

Yeah there's leaks more will be coming in the future. I think Nihility is on the lineup at the very least. Also the Preservation one seems fairly useless to me, I'd rather max out The Hunt.

Meanwhile I have to decide if I want to buy Tingyun from the monthly store (I don't have her) even though it'll set me back big time on my way to a 5* light cone...

5 star versions of 4 star characters is pretty standard for MHY design, although there's a bunch of archetypes missing in this game so they have a lot to get through

it is very funny to see shareholders ask Capcom to their face "why the fuck are you sitting on this huge legacy IP?" and I'm sure they'll put out something but given how middling MM11 was I'm not enthused

In comparison, FF7 Remake sold 3.5 million. FF15 had a big marketing push, much bigger than FF16, and the long dev cycle ironically created a lot of interest for it. If FF15 had actually been a good game, it could've brought the series to new heights. Instead it just damaged the brand, whoops.

If this game is as successful as FF7R, I don't think we have too much to worry about. That game also had to deal with timed exclusivity at launch

I was thinking of building March for her aggro generation but I'm thinking of how long it'll take me to build TWO more characters instead of one and dying a little on the inside

I binged both seasons over the weekend because I was sick. It's good stuff! Episode-for-episode, season 2 is the stronger season since 1 drags a bit in the middle, but I still feel like 1 is stronger overall because the beginning and end are SO good, basically perfect and could have just ended the show there.

Christmas episode is an all timer and the finale is excellent too.

My only complaint is that I really do not like .the love interest they introduce for Carmy. I get what they're going for, but she is just so much flatter and less "real" than literally every other character and the actors have negative chemistry with each other. Maybe this is part of the point there going for, but I just find her impossible to care about, she is pure fodder for Carmy's arc

Got Clara instead which. I was complaining about not having a use for her Light Cone I pulled so ok! I'll take that W.

Some, half at best. It's incomparable to the original, especially since the ones that were bad were legitimately bad, instead of just "not as good".

To me, 50% of episodes being okay to good still sounds like a big success for a long running sitcom. The lows were just VERY low. This isn't like other shows I watched where after a certain point you're lucky for 10-20% to be watchable

3DL may be kinda forgettable but I know I enjoyed playing it more than I did Sunshine

god you know, I think it really might be the sound design playing a huge part. the visual aesthetic is still a little "inject a soul into NSMB" but they're clearly trying and there's plenty good things about it. but NSMB's sound design is so fucking annoying and a lot of it is in here: "doos" instead of "bah"s, wacky powerup music, and on top of that I immediately hate the fucking yelling flower.

And in retrospect the reason I'm being nitpicky about this is because the 3D Marios have such a good mix of personality and recognizability, even the ones like Sunshine that I don't really like I have to respect.

Despite not really playing a NSMB since Wii I want to give this one a chance, it's got an uphill battle though.

I'm this way too, drops to or under 30 piss me off but if I'm hovering in the high 40s-60 I don't mind nearly as much

IDK how people are looking at Mario Wonder and thinking it looks like NSMB. The sound design seems a little similar but this looks completely different.

I suggest people look up some videos of NSMB and compare it to the Wonder trailer and you'll remember how bland NSMB was.

Yeah it probably looks better on a bigger screen (I watched it on mobile) so I'll reserve judgement. I will easily admit the animation work looks fantastic, it's just something about the overall visual style that looks too neat? Despite trying to come across as very chaotic?

Instead of writing a big post about Mario's aesthetics I'll just leave it at that lol

I do think it's a better ending if they end it with Gwen and her dad and her leaving to go find Miles. Don't show any of Miles in universe 42. Let the movie start and end with Gwen and her Dad. I think that is a more satisfying conclusion to this movie and the universe 42 stuff would be a better start point for the next movie.

Because there's no post-credits stinger for this movie, it kind of feels like this was the "ending" and all the universe 42 stuff is like. A stinger reveal that got fleshed out into being part of the movie. Which is fine, actually. When I think about it, I'd much rather have all the stuff as a long reveal tacked on to the end than as a brief stinger with less character development or just thrown into trailers to hype the third movie.

The trace requirement for cones doesn't seem to be nearly as bad for the ones for characters so I'm not too worried about that. I'm more worried that I don't have enough weapon exp cans because I kinda neglected them in favor of character books.

I am about 1000 account XP away from 60 so I should be hitting that today or tomorrow, and then I'll probably burn a lot of fuel doing traces. So I'll find out!

Yeah Wonder looks like it's improved everything about NSMB except the art style, which is a real shame. Despite all the weird shit there's somehow this kind of samey-ness to everything that annoys me.

I got Asta to E6 from this banner so I figured I should shore up her build. Just found out her lightcone (which I have 2 of) boosts ALL fire damage on the team, not just her own. I've been leveling Memories of the Past with her, not as useful now that she's got ER passives from eidolons.

I will MAKE Himeko be good, lol.

I could build Hook too for the mono fire meme but. My energy.

I think the gist is like, "as the amount of DEF you have goes up, the amount that level reduces damage goes down". But your Preservation characters are taking more hits so... who knows who you should level first.

Yeah now that I'm looking at it, this seems accurate. Enemy levels matter for your character's DEF, but you outweigh it with your own DEF stat...except, because most characters don't build DEF on purpose, leveling up your character and light cone are really the only way to keep up with that. Meanwhile enemies are comparing your character's level vs their level for the amount of damage they reduce when you hit them.

I've been leveling DPS > shielders/healers > supports but I suppose I will have to invest a bit more evenly in my supports than I thought. Doesn't really matter if Gepard can throw out a 1.8k shield on my supports that gets torn through because they getting hit harder

Between this and FF7R-2 being on two discs, this does makes sense if AAA games are just gonna embrace being super luxury experiences with the latest tech. Which is absolutely what CDPR is going for.

It's not GOOD but like, yeah makes sense, I expect to see more of this until something breaks

Honestly I don't feel like the stats from actually leveling are all that important in 10 level increments.

I don't really know the details but there's level scaling in the damage formula that affects both how much a character deals and takes. It feels pretty major, though I don't have any numbers to back it up.

Im at TB58, and at the very least, anyone at level 60 who I havent ascended yet is staying there until next equilibrium level. Looks like I have two characters left that could get EXP books and then itll all go in the bank. Then Ill be at nine level 70 characters, thats not bad.

Yeah I'm TB57 and have 6 characters at 70 which isn't really cutting it, my supports at 60 occasionally just get deleted so I'll need to get like 8-10 chars there for type coverage in addition to hoarding books to get major units to 80.

Looking into the details, the exp book grind isn't quite as bad as I feared because the blue books add up fast. But it's still 3-4 days of max level calyxes to get enough for 70-80, and about the same for 0-70.

Still pretty hard to justify using energy on much else besides hoarding books right now, but at least I can work on boosting some other characters too while I wait.

yeah much like how I was with Elden Ring, I don't even need to hear anything besides "new AAA FromSoft game" at this point

Very few of the 2-pc sets seem to be getting used right now. The ones from SU3 (that buff individual and team attack) seem to be the most universally good, I've been spam farming that one every week. The others are all niche or bad. The crit damage one seems awful. The effect hit rate one seems good for Nihility units.

For the most part you're gonna want elemental damage on globes (besides some supports that don't do much damage) so you can probably scrap almost everything with a different main stat. Chains I think ATK and energy recharge are the ones to save

Oh also: incredibly stupid FF14 style item descriptions are CONFIRMED so anyone worried the game would be completely humorless can thank Koji-Fox

I really liked the tone they landed on here, I know people were concerned it would be too much dark and edgy Game of Thrones shit - and it is - but also it's like the anime Hot Topic version which rules. At the end of the demo when the countess starts doing her anime villain routine and signals to have her servants executed I actually yelled, that shit was so brutal but still hilarious.

The Eikon battle I wasn't impressed with in terms of gameplay but it was a cool interactive cutscene. They are REALLY leaning into the mecha inspiration, we are already at one Evangelion reference.

I don't think it'll break any barriers on originality but if this holds up it should be a fun ride.

I think what fucks me up is that the Trailblazer does actually seem like a person who would just yell "AMONG US" for no reason

Miles also goes through a complete arc that just becomes immediately complicated because he's in the wrong universe. There is so much dedicated to his relationship with his parents, his family's fear of Miles leaving for college/Spider-Society (same thing), the villain literally tells him "you don't belong here" which leads to Miles confronting his fears directly and deciding to reveal being Spiderman to his mom. Miles has grown as a character, it just doesn't neatly resolve the plot. But so much of this movie is emotional stakes.

The Answer kind of presents a problem with the FeMC in that, I don't really think they're compatible with each other without some rewrites (i.e. Shinji's new scenes, the party is much friendlier with each other in FeMC's story so The Answer's conflict makes less sense) but I don't really think that's a deal breaker for including both anyways...

You've got to be kidding me

I knew this was a part one of two and I seriously expected the movie to end like, five times. There were so many scenes it COULD have ended on but it just kept going. That's maybe my only real complaint, it felt like a complete movie after the big confrontation and then there's like 20-30 minutes of even more stuff lol.

It's fine though, I think it's a good cliffhanger just because I'd like to see what happens next. I don't necessarily need danger or a mystery - something remarkable about this movie is that the second trailer basically gave away the entire movie in broad strokes, minus the reveal at the end, and still the character writing and visual direction was strong enough to make it feel completely fresh. That makes me feel extremely confident that the next part will be similarly tight even if it's pretty by the book.

If anyone saw the new Dune movie, that one was waaaaay worse about not feeling complete (and yet was still a pretty good movie), and in that case NO ONE fucking knew, they hadn't even confirmed the second part internally yet. So maybe I'm giving this one some extra slack.

And anyways I don't think it's going to be as simple as Miles blasting Prowler and getting out of there - the Sinister Six are being teased which should complicate things. Actually, my prediction for that is this is a universe where the "villains" are actually antiheroes (JJJ is complaining about the Six on TV and it's basically a given he's wrong) and they'll ultimately end up teaming with the Gwen-punk team to take down Spot and/or the Spider-Society. Provides a nice thematic counterbalance to the theme of canonicity too.

Even if I think this is the completely obvious swerve to go for, I really want to see where they go with things.

Does the save transfer because if not I'm just gonna wait for the whole thing in like...a week. It isn't like the Remake demo that launched a whole month beforehand.

My hottest take is that P3P's menu based exploration is actually an improvement. Makes the game so much quicker to play. FeMC route makes up for the VA and cutscene omissions.

People who haven't played P3 because they think they're missing out on stuff because of P3P's cuts are just shortchanging themselves one of the great video game experiences I think. Just play it!

So much of Persona 3 is aesthetic, atmosphere, and vibes, and that's what P3P is lacking. No amount of QOL and writing improvement will make January hit as hard in PSP mode.
