Despite MGS2 being mentioned several times in this topic, I don't think it's an example of legitimate improvement. The people who like it back in the day still do, for the same reasons, and the people who disliked it still aren't fans. It's just the former group still extol its praises while the latter has moved on. To put it simply: MGS2 hasn't gotten any stronger in a contest setting.

Most of the game mentioned in this topic so far seem like that to me, actually, except for Majora's Mask and Nier 1.

It's all anecdotal but I've seen several people change their minds on Raiden in particular.

Oh shit, I just realised: I took my nearly-3-year-old niece and nephew to see Hey Duggie a few weeks ago.

It's a kids TV show but they put a bunch of episodes together for a cinema version. It's about an hour long. The twins were starting to get antsy after like 45 minutes, so we left. They did pretty well considering it was their first time in a cinema, but I guess that would technically be the first time I left a cinema before the "movie" finished (even if it wasn't really a "movie" of the kind TC meant).

Djokovic did some shitty stuff and I'm less of a fan than I was, but ultimately he is not Nadal, who has plagued my interest in the sport for years. I can't stand the man.

I don't think Nadal has much claim to being better than Djokovic even if Nadal does come back and win two more before he retires - he is too concentrated around a single surface and has a multitude of early GS losses in the other three slams that help put him below Federer, never mind Djokovic.

But it's a bit like Messi vs. Ronaldo. Messi was so obviously the superior player to the majority of people that watch football; there is and was such a gulf between them. But Messi winning the World Cup removed any doubt, and that is now a finished discussion. Similarly, there's not much avenue to say Nadal > Djokovic now, but there'll be one if Nadal overtakes Djokovic's GS total. I don't want it to be inconclusive.

Just seen it

I didn't love the first half - it felt unfocused and I felt uninvested in the Rome chase which was overlong (though obviously shot well and with great sound design, particularly Grace's crash). I think the American duo was probably one interested party too many. Probably the highlight there was the desert shootout, another example of fantastic sound.

Ilsa was so wasted and had about 6 lines the whole movie

"This isn't Benji," "no, but you are Dunn" was great

It won me over once they left the club and then the whole train finale. Was unconsciously gripping my shirt a few times, particularly the carriage sequence which was insanely well shot. That brought it up from like 3* to 4*. Not as good as Fallout.

I just want bcs to win one. Even like sound mixing. It's criminal to be some of the best tv ever and not win even one

Obviously the hope is for Rhea to finally get what should be her 4th but it's doubtful

Ermine's post was definitely an escalation but it was true and personal. It's shitty to treat that with such...sterility, and to make posts like Aecioo's. It also came 50 posts in, at which point he'd seen x number of posts dismissing the issue. I'm not surprised he was annoyed and broke that out.

Also he had a personal and very current life experience relevant to the topic, so I'm not sure why he's not supposed to post it

Red > Black > Platinum > Scarlet > Emerald > Sun > Gold > X > Sword

Enjoyment doesn't start seriously going down until X and Sword but I agree with a lot of what Inviso said about 2. SM was fine (I agree the handholding was annoying and I was fairly unimpressed with the new Pokemon on the whole). I liked the exploration of 3 - checking out the dive spots, Sootopolis is the best city in the series (maybe Castelia comes close), and then the way they leaned into that in the remake with soaring.

I can't deny my love for RBY so I'm not going to. 5 and 4 are both fantastic though. 4 has my favourite lore, 5 has the best story and Themanitan

Incidentally PLA would come in right around Platinum, probably just below it but it's close

Like I played XIII, the remake, before they patched it. That had certain dialogue or scripted events just refuse to trigger causing the level not to progress and me to be stuck. I fell through floors, stuff like that. That to me was "unacceptable". And if there was ever a game I'd want to defend, it'd be XIII, but there's no defense for that stupid mess.

SV I only ever encountered comparatively minor graphical stuff. "Completely unacceptable" doesn't jive with my experience at all and comes off as hyperbolic. I would even say Sword fits that description better - with SV I feel I got a complete, albeit glitchy, experience but Sword was so empty and most of its ideas so badly implemented that it to me fits the bill of "unacceptable" far more in my eyes.

X/Y was by the numbers but it was so cool seeing Pokemon in 3D and stuff that I gave it a pass
