Oh yeah I racked up big damage with her once I figured that out, but I didn't find it particularly enjoyable. I didn't enjoy the feedback from the game somehow. Like in ff7r I loved using Starshower, Overcharge, Triple Slash, Counterstance, etc. None of Yuffie's felt that good to use.

I can't not vote for BvS, because that movie doing what it did was a historic crime. WW84 was just a fairly bad movie, but BvS infuriated me.

I found Yuffie in general not that fun to use. Got used to her a bit by the end but she was a marked step down from the playable characters in the main game. Didn't really like Intergrade that much in general. Had some fun running around sector 7 again near the beginning though.

I love this show just because my mother watched it with me, and she is completely not into anime/manga, or cartoons/comics in general. She loved it, and we both enjoyed bonding with each other over something I've enjoyed for years but she had never understood why.

The actual show is maybe a 8.5/10 in my book quality-wise, but it gets a 10/10 in terms of personal feelings just for that.

Anyway. I watched the rest and I'm sad it's over. They Return of the King'd the ending of the season a bit but it set up a lot of stuff. I really wanted more scenes of the main cast on the boat together bantering with each other. Those scenes, usually at the beginnings and ends of episodes, were the ones I enjoyed most. I suppose because they were already condensing so much into such a comparatively short space of time, but still - hope to see a little more of that in s2. The show was almost always great when it was the main guys talking and then it cut away to Coby or Zeff or Buggy and it lost something.

I guess I'm somewhat into One Piece now? Like I've been watching clips on youtube and stuff. But it seems impenetrably long. It's weird to have a growing obsession that I'm not likely to cultivate further.

I was completely into and absorbed by the scene at the end of ep7 and almost crying, both Luffy and Nami's actors were doing a terrific job, great music, looked great

Then Luffy screamed "OF COURSE I WILL" a third time while reaching his arms up and all the air fell out of that balloon. Fucking why. Iaki has done a great job but he's been let down by script and editing on a few occasions and that was one of them.

Yeah that was Ragnarok's deal. If it is that I'll probably just go digital. We'll see.

I'm fundamentally lazy, so digital, but I like the feel of physical. Feels more special. I'll probably get ff7r physically if I can because of the novelty of two discs.

I watched episode 4

I agree that Usopp's acting is the weakest thus far. Also, in a show that features green hair and an axe for a hand, somehow the butler pirate was the most anime looking motherfucker. That hair. Jesus.

Some of the shots in episode 3 and 4 were weird. There's a scene early in episode 3 with Luffy and Zoro talking and it looks like it was through a fish eye lens or a gopro or something. Really strange

The action is great though I guess I'm surprised how long it took Zoro to beat those two grunts.

Nami, Luffy and Zoro are all terrific. I like virtually every scene involving them, and the show suffers when they aren't on screen (Garm is pretty good. Koby kind of has one facial expression).

More than anything it feels very light and fresh and fun. Looking forward to watching the rest.

Also weird trivia that I enjoy is that Zoro is played by the son of Hattori Hanzo from Kill Bill. I literally rewatched Volume 1 like two weeks ago.

It's camp and a little cringey but just the right side of cringey that I can still enjoy it. Actors are clearly having a good time. Zoro being done with the lunacy is helping to balance stuff nicely. Some of the visual effects are pretty great, thanks Netflix budget

Like three years late. Finally got round to it. But the ending has been playing on my mind for the last 24 hours so I'm making a topic about it

I chose to kill Shimura. It felt like a richer story that way, and having seen both endings I massively prefer the kill one - the spare one feels very anticlimactic. I think Shimura was probably a dead man if he'd failed anyway? And killing him was more for him than it was for Jin.

But that's not the point I wanted to make. The discourse around it seems to be that spare is the "correct" choice because by sparing Shimura, Jin fully embraces his "Ghost" identity and abandons his honor completely and his adherence to the Samurai code - but that's completely at odds with how I played the game, and what the game encourages you to do.

You're given Ghost weapons and tools, absolutely. But you're also constantly encouraged to challenge your opponents to Samurai stand-offs. The 3rd act shows the negative consequences of using ghost tactics what with the poison being everywhere. The final duel with Shimura featured no Ghost tactics at all. You initially duel Khan without using them. Jin hadn't "completely abandoned" anything, he was just no longer solely adhering to it. He always maintained some aspect of his Samurai self - even if you did everything in the game using stealthy tactics, the game forces you, time and again, into honorable one-on-one duels and purposely restricts your use of Ghost tactics right up until the end of the game.

If that's the message they wanted to send with the endings, they could have taken the choice away from the player, and run some sort of analysis on how the player used Ghost tactics; compare use of standoffs, Ghost kills, etc. Or even have a longer, more varied battle with Shimura where you get the chance to use Ghost weapons if you so choose, and if you do that, you spare him.

Because, and this is what's bothering me the most: Jin can't fucking say "I have no honor" as he does in the Spare ending having just had a very honorable duel. If that statement were true it would have come after hurling Kunai and Sticky Bombs at your uncle to end it in seconds. Having a full-on, totally honorable, one-on-one fight with Shimura, then to be told that you're abandoning the Samurai code completely by choosing Spare, then being able to continue challenging Mongols to stand-offs in the postgame, feels a bit incongruous.

And all of that is avoided if you choose to kill him.

I get why people choose Spare. I admit I hesitated for a while making the decision - but looking up the comparatively anticlimactic other ending and seeing the justification for it afterwards has only made me happier with my decision.

Ghost of Tsushima

After putting it off for a while having only played the first three or four hours, I binged it and platinummed it over the last couple of weeks. The combat and side-mission design got repetitive but I did like it regardless. The feedback from the game, both audial and visual, was so satisfying. Perfect parries never stopped feeling great. There was one side mission where you climbed the mountain while getting from campfire to campfire to ward off the cold, and I was so relieved to have a different mechanic like that used so late in the game after so many repetitive side-missions.

Samara in Mass Effect 2 compared Justicars to Samurai, and that made for two comparably bland characters. Jin was very stoic. But that did mean his little moments of humour or rage were worth paying attention to, and playing as him was undeniably a fun power trip. I liked him in general and he was definitelyw well-performed, particularly in the ending. The peak of the game was Act 2 generally, with the Yarikawa mission where you get Ghost Stance, and the entire ending of that act leading up to the horse dying were all superb. Act 3 wasn't great by comparison, with the attack on Khotun Khan comparatively short. The finale was fantastic though, what a terrific choice to end it that way.

In the end, I chose to kill my uncle. Was ranting about that here but I'm gonna make a topic because it's been on my mind.

Love and Thunder with a bullet. I was actively angry at it for being so shit.

It's also the only MCU movie I'd call actively bad. I've rewatched Thor 2 on tv a couple of times and it's more bland than terrible.

Eternals had a lot going for it imo, but I saw someone here say it would have been better as a D+ series and I agree.
