For me, the key for Malenia was going naked except for Rennala's hat and a crappy shirt for the light roll. With her damage, the extra armor wasn't doing much anyway and being hit because I was too slow just made the fight longer which meant I'd take more damage.

And as for Waterfowl, her big fuck you there is that her final flurry always targets directly behind you. So when you're dodging away to avoid the first two, you're going to be hit by the lady one of you keep going.

Shouting out names is one thing, each enemy having their own specific name is another.

Well....it's kind of the first thing you see in the game. It's hard to tell without knowing what's going on but the first visual in the first cutscene is Marika breaking the Elden Ring and then Radagon trying to fix it.

Aside from that, I don't remember anything specifically mentioning it before the hammer. There are clues that point to it, but I definitely wasn't smart enough to figure it out myself.

Radagon and Marika aren't so much the same person, it's more like they share custody of a body. It's also highly likely that they were separated for a time; Radagon, after all, waged a war and fathered three kids with Rennala while Marika was being queen.

That's where Elden Ring uses specific definitions. The outer gods are formless entities that exist outside the Lands Between. Gods without the outer are more-or-less avatars of those gods that walk the land.

• Marika was the vessel of the Greater Will, seemingly the outer god of order.
• Mohg sought to become the vessel of the Formless Mother, the outer god of blood, pain, and masochism.
• Malenia was the vessel of the god of rot against her will and fought its influence her entire life. It was only when Radahn seemed to be serving her an asswhooping that she embraced its power and "bloomed," blighting Caelid. In her second phase of the fight, she blooms again and becomes a full-fledged god.
• Ranni seems to have become the vessel of the god of the dark moon.
• The yellow-eye-laser folks serve the Frenzied Flame, the outer god of chaos.
• The Fire Giants seem to serve an outer god of fell fire.

Ranni is essentially the atheist ending lol. Or that's how I personally interpret it anyway. The way it works in the Land Between is that there are outer gods like the Greater Will and the god of rot, then they have their avatars which are just called gods. Marika was the avatar of the Greater Will.

Ranni's plan is to become the new godqueen, but she's going to be the avatar of the god of the dark moon or stars or whatever. And then instead of ruling over the Lands Between, she fucks off into space. Since her god has "jurisdiction" over the world, the other ones can't get in, but without her being present, her god can't get in either. So it's basically just a godless world.

If nothing else, this was so lazily done that Blizzard would have been caught doing it before now if it was standard practice.

Took me a number of tries, but nothing huge. Maybe 12. At the end I actually found his first form more annoying cause it has less openings.

That I do agree with, the Clergyman gave me mild trouble. It was the Black Blade that died in about ten seconds. I'd seen someone mention that the best way of fighting him was to be really aggressive and uh....it worked.

I felt bad for Malekith. People talked about how he was so tough, they spent hours on him, and I oneshot him lol. He just melted.

Because doing that with his eye is as natural as extending his neck to him. It might even be less effort on his part.

Yeah, the only way it works is if you base it only on the first game. It would also have to be a show, you're not doing any sort of JRPG justice in a two hour movie.

You soooort of have one, but in what I believe is traditional for Fromsoft games, it's not in your face about it. If you want the explanation: long ago, Marika removed the Rune of Death (also called Destined Death) from the Elden Ring. The Elden Ring sort of governs reality in the Lands Between, so removing that Rune just completely removes death from the world. That's the in-world reason that enemies respawn.

So while you've burned the tree, it can't actually die until you recover Destined Death.

I don't know if it really ruined open world games, but going directly from Elden Ring to Horizon: FW certainly did Horizon no favors.

This has been a debate since they first created the token like eight years ago, but I don't think Khloe is right about this. It sounds straightforward, you're buying in-game currency, of course it's P2W, but gold-buyable gear in WoW is either outright trash or just basic starter gear. Getting the best gear requires either raiding, PVP, or mythic+ dungeons (and the last one isn't in Classic).

The only argument you can make is that you can pay a guild to run you through a raid and give you all the gear, but that's both assuming the right gear will drop for you and ignoring that this was happening without the token. People were just buying gold from third party sites.

And even if you do that, it's sort of a big so what. The purpose of gear in WoW is so you can raid higher difficulties to get better gear to raid higher difficulties. If you "bought" the gear, then you've completed the game without actually playing it. The only people who should care about that are epeen watchers.

I think it costs more to put a game on consoles than on PC. I know Steam and the like take a cut, but I believe you also have to buy a dev kit for the consoles so you can get it working on that specific hardware.

It's times like these I kinda wish it was even more like Arkham and there was a gun disabler gadget.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is a skill that lets you disarm enemies by holding triangle.

While the newspapers are completely hidden, one of the final suit powers do show photo locations on the map.

I think you might be doing what I did for a couple of years: mixing up Outer Wilds and Outer Worlds. The former is a puzzle/walking sim, the latter is apparently Fallout in space.

So the White Sun Station just teleported me to the surface of Bitter Hollow, not to the Black Hole Forge like I was expecting. It's pointing me towards the power station on the Ember Twin, but the pathway is (1) very quickly filled with sand and (2) seems to always be blocked by falling sand which pushes me down whenever I try to jetpack over. I think I remember seeing the cord in the Stepping Stone path, but it also fills up very quickly.

I tried Dark Bramble. Fucking hated it. Aimlessly wandered through fog until my fuel ran out, but I did just dodge an angler fish. My only thought right now is to fire the scout through the seed at Timber Hearth or scan for a distress signal.

And then either the game or my controller broke, disabling my left trigger. Turns out it's not possible to land on Ember Twin without a left trigger.

Alright, I'm a little stuck. I'm pretty sure I need to use this warp tower at the White Hole Station, but I've sat here through an entire orbit and it has done nothing. Am I missing something?

I figured it out. Turns out the downstairs had a purpose and you aren't just supposed to sit there for ten minutes >_>
