Sort of curious how much a person who has never played FF7 would enjoy the game.

Like, I'm sure the gameplay will be enjoyable to all, but the plot and the story structure.

I only played the original to play the remake and I think they'd like it fine, but there'd definitely be a few things that make them go wtf. Like one of the playable characters in the original is this animated stuffed cat toy and he shows up in this one for about five seconds and it will make no fucking sense if you don't know who he is.

They'd also obviously miss the foreshadowing about what the Whispers are doing because it's hard to know they're trying to correct the timeline if you don't know what the timeline is.

Troll TC aside, the screenshots look better than the video. Stream compression does no one any favors.

See, I love the entire concept of Aerith and Sephiroth both trying to change the ending for their own purposes. The Whispers being a literal stand-in for fans who don't want any changes from the original? The three weird boss monsters near the end being echoes of those weird Sephiroth kids in Advent Children, fighting to make sure they'll exist? Cloud suddenly going extremely super anime at the end of the game because he's channeling his future self?

Loved all of it.

The big Whisper monster being how they fix it wasn't great though, I'll admit.

I fully understand why people hate the altering fate stuff, but I ate that shit up.

I doubt they're going to change too much. I imagine it'll be like the first one where 95% of the framework of the original is there.

The way it happened is that the bad guy was trying to kill MJ. Kamala used her shapeshifting to look like MJ to mislead the bad guy and he stabbed her. So she died to save a woman she's never actually spoke to in a comic book she's in for fourteen pages about the Spider-Man she's not friends with.

Oh, everyone knows. The current X-Men storyline has them with some kind of resurrection engine on their own island nation of Krakoa so mutants don't die right now. The MCU version of Kamala turned out to be a mutant, but the comic version is an Inhuman. People are betting she wakes up on Krakoa and it turns out she's been a mutant this whole time. Bonus (negative?) points if her powers also change to the spectral construct powers she has in the MCU as opposed to her stretch powers.

The Magnus Archives - The newly promoted head archivist of the Magnus Institute is organizing the mess of files files his predecessor left behind, dictating them for the records. The Institute is devoted to collecting tales from people who have seemingly had contact with the supernatural. Starts out being very episodic, each one being a little "creepypasta" kind of thing but gets more serialized as it goes along. This was the first horror podcast I listened to and that kind fucked me over because this is apparently the best one lol.

I Am In Eskew - Eskew is a inescapable city where the rain never stops and horrors are commonplace. David decides to start making audio records of his life in hopes of reaching the outside world. Somewhat serialized but still mostly episodic. This one's hardcore horror, but it's also very dryly presented.

SAYER - This one sadly seems like it'll never be finished (I checked twitter and the writer/main actor seems to have thrown a recent hissy fit over people asking him about it), but it's a good ride. In the near-future, an asteroid hits Earth. In the devastation that follows, a corporation called rolith Dynamics launches the asteroid back into space as an artificial second moon and sets up a research station on it. SAYER is the AI that runs the day-to-day activities and each episode is him speaking to "you" through a neural implant. Somewhat horror, somewhat black comedy.

Wolf 359 - This one's not horror at all. A three-man + one AI crew on the space station Hephaestus, orbiting the distant star Wolf 359. Starts primarily as an episodic comedy and (a running theme here), gets more dramatic and serialized as it goes along.

Welcome to Nightvale - The ur example of fictionalized podcasts. Welcome to Nightvale is the radio program of the main character, Cecil Palmer. In Nightvale, the supernatural and paranormal are considered boring and mundane. No one questions that Old Woman Josie spoke to angels, but they still refuse to say that angels exist because the Sheriff's Secret Police have outlawed the belief in angels. That kind of thing. People call it a horror podcast and it sometimes goes in that direction, but it's much more black comedy than anything else.

I haven't listened to this one myself, but Not Another D&D Podcast (or NADDPod) is considered one of the best. I've seen a few of its players in Dimension 20 and they were great, so you might like this one if you liked The Adventure Zone.
