Which is why groups like Hamas are generally funded by nations like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

It's basically politics and gamesmanship, and always has been. It's like the proxy wars fought between the US and USSR during the Cold War (or the "Great Game" back in the 19th century between Britain and Russia) - it's almost never about the a actual conflict or the people suffering in it, it's about the overall big picture and being used as pawns in a larger game.

Also, there are more mechanistic explanations for how it works (depending on the setting) if you actually read the books, but that would require you to actually read the things you're complaining about, and no one does that anymore.

Only partly. It also includes anyone who spends way too much time on social media, which includes the perpetual outrage machine of places like Twitter, the festering boil that is Tumblr subculture, and people who can't stop scrolling through TikTok. You could probably even throw people who communicate almost exclusively in memes into the mix.

Hell, even people who spend multiple hours a day reading and posting on GameFAQs would fit the bill, so there's a few people here that maybe need to look in a mirror.

7th Saga is hard as ****. I've done the first dungeon a few times (barely), but I don't think I ever got past the first NPC battle.

I never found it as hard as people always say it is, but maybe I just got lucky with the rival apprentice fight (the main part where the glitch in the US version makes the game difficult to beat).

Then again, I also beat Silver Surfer on the NES, and I've been repeatedly told that was literally impossible, so maybe I was just a gaming savant.

(Though I doubt that's the case, because I could never beat Zelda II as a kid, because I could never beat the final fight against the shadow until I was nearly in my 30s)

At some level, I can appreciate the whole "I'd be as bad as they are if I were willing to kill them" philosophy, but it gets pretty ridiculous when the villain has killed enormous numbers of people and has proven multiple times over that simply imprisoning them isn't enough to stop them from killing even more, such that not killing them effectively sacrifices dozens or hundreds more innocent lives.

There's an aspect of it that most people miss, however.

It's not just a case of "If I start killing bad guys that makes me bad", to some degree it's also "If I start killing people, the public will consider me a killer."

It's the difference between Batman and the Punisher - Batman is generally tolerated by the public and police because he doesn't kill (even if the fact that he's beating the ever-living shit out of people should be seen as being nearly as questionable). He can work with them, and they don't start a massive manhunt to track him down. But the Punisher is a straight-up criminal, and police will go after him (and there've been multiple attempts to go after him in-universe).

Batman can interact with other heroes relatively easily - Punisher has trouble getting other heroes to trust him (unless he's dealing with other heroes who similarly skirt the edge of the law). Innocent civilians are rarely afraid of Batman, but pretty much everyone is terrified of the Punisher.

It also depends on what universe you're talking about - DC tends to be much less cynical (or it used to be, before it became mostly shit), which makes it harder to justify heroes who are nearly as bad as the villains. Whereas Marvel is cynical as fuck (which is why the average citizen kind of hates people like Spider-Man and the X-Men in spite of them literally saving the world dozens of times).

Which might be why Marvel's version of Batman (Moon Knight) is both a killer and straight-up crazy.

I'd never be able to eat an entire rotisserie chicken, because I hate chicken wings.

I enjoy breasts (no jokes), and I'm willing to eat drumsticks, but I'd throw the wings out unless someone else wanted to eat them.

It's why if I ever buy rotisserie chicken at all, I only buy the separate breast-only ones.

For certain definitions of "old", Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I actually own a copy of the game, but because it's a PC game (which I hate) and an MMO (which I hate), I've always procrastinated actually setting it up and playing.

The main reason why I still wanted to play it was because I loved the KotOR games, and people have said it's possible to solo most of the actual story content in SW:TOR (just like you can solo the story content in Elder Scrolls Online). Which is all I mostly care about.

Other factors that have sort of led me to procrastinate it is the fact that you can't romance any of the female companions with female main characters (which is how I like to play), and the fact that I'm not sure how many character slots you can have saved without a paid subscription.


I also have a copy of Deadpool I bought for the PS4, which has been sitting on my shelf for pretty much forever. Maybe someday I will crack it open.

Oh, and I've also got Agents of Mayhem that I've never played.

I am but I haven't watched any Futurama past the original run. Like how I haven't watched any Simpsons after season 9.

Pretty close to this for me. I have seen later episodes, but I hate most of them. For me Futurama ended perfectly with The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings, and bringing it back after that bordered on atrocity.

For The Simpsons, I'd probably agree that season 9 is a good cut-off, though personally I started seeing the cracks as early as season 7.

Every reality show is fake. About the only one that was ever really "real" was The Real World, and that only in season 1.

And even that was edited to high hell so even that wasn't entirely real.

This is ridiculously untrue for the vast majority of human beings.

Sugar can contribute to a number of diabetic-related problems, along with just increasing your caloric intake and contributing to overall obesity (and all the problems that come with it).

Aspartame is really only a problem if you have phenylketonuria. Or if you're drinking more than two dozen cans of soda a day (but in that case, you've probably got bigger problems)

If Coke Zero, and diet sodas in general were serious about providing a healthier alternative to regular sugar-filled sodas, they would use stevia, an actual healthy alternative to sugar.

Because most people who have tasted stevia (at least in the US) complain it isn't sweet enough. Which means either people won't buy your product, or you have to supplement the stevia with something else (usually aspartame) anyway.

And even beyond that, stevia has a much lower threshold for "acceptable dosage per day" than aspartame for most governing bodies. Something like even three cans of soda a day would put you over the recommended limit.

Okay, missed that because it was a quoted response to Sunny, and I've got Sunny on ignore.

That being said, I'd argue that "he didnt have anyone else to petsit" isn't really a good answer anyway. Because it's not really your responsibility to bail other people out just because they've made life choices that have left them without other options. Especially if it isn't even a really good friend or a family member, but just "one of your students".

If you're that bad with pets, you probably shouldn't be petsitting period. Both for your own sake, and the sake of the animal.
